Are people here truly sincere? How to distinguish?

Hello,

F37. I have been following and contributing to this (+ r/SocialParis) sub for a while now.

I have noticed a pattern:

  1. Someone posts indicating they are looking for friends, people to party with etc.

  2. You reach out, arrange but then they flake when you make it clear you only want friendship.

  3. Next day you see those same people commenting on the posts of people who are looking for friends. Or they create new posts asking to have new friends.

I mean, what are they really looking for? Someone who is their type so that they can get laid? Obviously not a friendship, that’s for sure. How to distinguish?

Or maayyybe I am mistaken. Maybe this is only my observation. I would like to hear your thoughts.

Loved the lights at Essaim, so I made a miniature version at home (DIY Tutorial)

I really love the visual atmosphere at Essaim, particularly how they designed these huge colored air vents.

So I recreated a miniature version for my living room!

You can check out the result in this video.

Here is a quick tutorial below, with some photos and the supply list if you'd like to recreate this at home too!

📋 Supply list:

👷🏻‍♂️ Building tips:

  • I searched for a long time for the perfect air vent, but one with that many slatted lines doesn't exist at such a small size. So I opted for a flush-mount LED ceiling light, onto which I stuck strips of gaffer tape to recreate the illusion.
  • LED ceiling lights often come with exposed wires or a terminal strip (domino), so you'll need to attach a standard wall plug to use it like a regular lamp.
  • Use the grid lines on a cutting mat to cut nice, straight strips of gaffer tape. Don't try to cut strips that span the entire width of the light fixture all at once, as it will be very difficult to position them straight afterwards.
  • I started with two 1 cm vertical strips positioned at each third of the width to serve as alignment guidelines.
  • The height of the light-emitting area on the panel is about 21 cm. The vents at Essaim have 9 black bars. I assumed that the 9 black bars were twice as thick as the 10 light gaps, which gives 21 cm / (10 + 2 × 9) = 21 / 28 => 0.75 cm for the light gaps and 1.5 cm in thickness for the gaffer tape bars.
  • You can draw the spacing lines on a piece of paper and use it as a guide to trace pencil marks directly onto the light fixture (see photo).
  • At the very end, I covered the 2 initial vertical strips with a 1.5 cm strip to conceal the ends of the horizontal strips and create a clean finish for the whole piece.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and see you soon at Essaim!

==========

FR Version 🇫🇷

32F solo in Paris , where do the 30+ people actually go dancing?

32F from NYC, coming to Paris solo in December. I’m really into electronic music, techno, minimal, house, genre-bending stuff and have Essaim on my list.

I’m mainly curious where people in their late 20s/30s actually go dancing in Paris. I’m not looking for an 18–22 crowd or a super mainstream place.. much more interested in places where people are genuinely there for the music.

Also, is going out solo pretty normal in Paris, particularly as a woman? I do it in NYC and am very comfortable on my own, but I speak pretty minimal French, so curious whether that makes any difference.

Essaim seems up my alley, but would love other recommendations too for a 30+ crowd and a music-first dance floor.

Lacchesi all night long at Essaiam – first time at the venue

26 M visiting Paris this week and I’m planning to see Lacchesi all night long at essaim on Thursday 8 October.

I’m into techno and will most likely be going solo. It’ll also be my first time at essaim and I don’t speak French, although obviously I can manage in English. I have bought my ticket through RA and checked the door policy and had a few questions about this -

How selective is the door in practice for someone going solo?

Is English generally fine at the door?

Is there anything specific about essaim etiquette that a first-timer should know?

Would appreciate advice from people who’ve actually been to essaim recently.

Edit - it was actually very chill . They asked me whether it was my first time and i told them the truth ofc , they then went on telling me the club etiquette .
Overall had a fun night!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone

Merci !
