Newbie 😊 made 2 anyway 😅
I made these for fun. I got the bowls from the trash and the dirt and moss from our garden so it's nothing fancy 🙂.

I got myself a little slime mold in my terrarium, very interesting to see it grow and move around. It has disappeared now so im curious where it will pop up next.
Is there a way to propagate it? Maybe take a piece of it and put it in a different terrarium?
I make these little terrarium jewelry and mini tetrariums and I'd love to know what you'd pay. I'm planning to make diy kits as well.
(Sorry for bad English)
First pic is day1 and second pic is my terrarium today. And for context this is my first ever terrarium that I've made so I don't know much about how to take care of it, at first I tried to put it near the window for natural sunlight but it doesn't seem to be enough so I bought a lamp. Spray water every week. Then it started to smell, some leaves turned yellow, the moss super dark green and did not attach the dirt.
My question is can I still recover it? Or it's long gone. Or I'm just panicking and it's fine like my friends told me. And what did I do wrong so I don't make the same mistake on my next one.
I am redoing my IKEA cabinet and need some advice. The tape is temporary to keep things off the wood. The walls are currently carved foam covered with silicone and substrate. I don’t really like the way they look and I’m trying to figure out what to do next so they look better. I think I would like moss or vines but I’m not sure how to do it. I am open to suggestions. Any input would be appreciated!
This is a 38 inch glass chandelier that I’m going to be turning into a terrarium. I have a couple ideas, but I can’t pick one. So what would you do with it????
I have no idea what the plant is and i have no idea what kind of mosses they are as i found them in the woods.
I built the wall in the back using a mix of concrete and dirt.
I built my terrarium right before the heatwave and and my pink fittonia died and I had to remove the whole thing, I have had to prune back my ivy today as it’s started to go brown and a bit soggy. But when I look at the moss and touch the soil it feels relatively dry. It’s a closed terrarium, I would be happy for any tips, I did mist with plant feed and tap water when I watered it. I’ll add a pic of when I first made it to now, I’d appreciate any help as I don’t want it to die
Hey all, this is the first large(ish) terrarium that I've built so far. I wanted something kinda bright and fairly easy to look after, so I went with what I think are:
- Purple passion plant (Gynura aurantiaca)
- White/pink nerve plant and a reddish nerve Plant (Fittonia albivenis)
To add to this I placed a few clumps of moss and some rocks from the garden.
Really happy with how it turned out tbh. The purple passion plant was too nice not to include, even if it might outgrow the rest and need a bit of TLC.
Any tips for a first time terrarium owner? Anything you'd have done differently?
TIA!
Hello, I've lurking around here for a long time but never got to start my own terrarium, the thing is that last week I found a stand selling them already made so I thought it would be a great place to start, they said it had been going for 8-9 months already.
Anyways, I bougth this one and I've had to keep it in a pretty dark place all this week. Today I noticed the moss turning brown and wilting as well as the other plant behind with the green/pink leaves.
What should I do? Already moved it to a sunnier place but without direct sunlight and also carefully added a little water, not much. Also noticed that the lid does not close too well.
Is there anything else I should do? Can someone guide me as to what species I have so I can look for specific care? Should I make sure that the lid is airtight?
Thanks in advance, and I hope to start being around here making more terrariums in the future.
I am a plant lover but haven't ever had a terrarium before. I want my first try to go well. How would you care for this terrarium? I don't know the plant species (it was a gift) and I'm not familiar with how the dome affects the watering.
So I'm wondering:
Thank you all!!
Our 18 month old terrarium has this relatively new white substance growing between the glass and soil.
It still smell good, like a forest, so unsure if we should be concerned.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
hello! we are grade 12 students from the philippines. our teacher assigned us to make a terrarium as a group for our final project in our earth and life science subject so we can graduate high school. it is one of our major curriculum requirements. i am currently gathering rocks for our drainage layer. i read on google that we should test the rocks one by one with a drop of vinegar to see if they are limestone, which helps avoid rotting in the ecosystem. i am searching online, but i also want to get tips from people who have experience building terrariums. we are not allowed to open the jar once we close it, so we are struggling a bit with this part.
what kind of living organisms should we put inside? something that can sustain itself in the ecosystem we built? we are students, so we can't buy anything, please give us options we can find ourselves.
is it okay if we get rocks from the river? we live near a river, so we think gathering rocks there would be a great idea.
do we need to sterilize the rocks once we obtain them, or do we need to wait until we are told to assemble our jar?
what kind of soil should we put in there?
other tips would be appreciated. thank you!
I feel like this group will appreciate the find I made at Bachmans today. I'm excited to try my hand at this in my terrarium. Any tips?
My terrarium was thriving until recently, my routine is to take the lid off in the morning and during the day as it gets builds up loads of condensation.
The weather in the UK right now is 33 degrees celsius, so I don’t know if that’s playing a part. I sprayed it with water last night as the soil appeared to be rather dry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone. I built this terrarium today and I'm so happy with the way it turned out, it's airtight sealed with cling wrap.

Would love to know your thoughts or advice if any?

And yes I did add an AI edited picture at the end because I couldn't get it to remove the reflection floor or my phone any other way.
