Overnight at a Supercharger in a Model 3

Overnight at a Supercharger in a Model 3

Wanted to see what it was like to car camp. Minimal planning, just brought clothes, toiletries a bedsheet and a travel towel, headphones + lots of water.

Parked in a spot right beside the mall supercharger so it looks like I could be at the supercharger spot.

Folded back seats down was a bad idea, it was too hard and I was rolling into the trunk due to the angle. Ended up using the sheets as a cover clipped by the back seat, hook and front seatbelt + a garbage Amazon bubble packed on the hook for extra blockage. On the other side I did the same with my thin shawl. Headphones came in clutch when the mall started mowing the lawn at midnight.

Water for brushing teeth and wet wipes were great ideas.

Car on camp mode and had heated seats on.

Bathroom situation was the trickiest and ended up driving to McDonald's at 5am which was a few mins away, continued sleeping in the McDonald's parking lot for a bit.

Would probably get proper window covers next time, and learn how to use an inflatable mattress and a LoonaGo aka portable urinal.

I'd do it again but I'd have to have a better reason to than just trialing it. My friends and family definitely thought it was crazy.

First time car camping in my 2026 MYP

Finally did it! My girlfriend and I are such camping noobs but always wanted to try car camping in our Tesla with our little puppy.

The bathroom situation was what got us most nervous. Then we found out there are "ensuite" camping sites with modern private bathrooms wtf? Didn't know these existed.

I know you camping pros probably think I'm a p***y but it gave us a chance to dip our toe in and it was a great success!

Camp mode was a game changer. Felt like we were sleeping in a futuristic pod. Got some funny looks from people walking past since they had elaborate RV's, but I think mostly they were checking out the car.

Now we've caught the camping bug and I've just ordered a Snuuzu haha

First time camping with Tesla Juniper

Hi everyone! Doing my first solo Tesla camping/car camping trip next week for about 4–5 days. Going to be sleeping in the Model Y for the first time and wanted to see if any experienced Tesla campers have beginner tips or gear recommendations.

So far I have window covers, an air mattress, blanket/pillow, emergency kit, cooler, and extra chargers/battery pack.

Mainly looking for advice on comfort, safety, Camp Mode, charging, and overnight parking.

Appreciate any advice — trying to avoid rookie mistakes on the first run.

AC tent?

Hi all, I have a 23 MY with HW4 that my fiance and I have been using to adventure wherever we can when we have time off any chance we get. We’re soon looking to go to the outer banks of North Carolina and camp for the week of the 4th of July and I wanted to ask fellow enthusiasts if they’ve been able to find a way to tent around the car and have the ac work throughout. We have a MY mattress and have used regular camp mode on campgrounds before and honestly sleep pretty well with very little power usage. I’ll be plugged in so I’m not worried about that but leaving the trunk open with a tent around it, I feel like the air would just escape the tent. Is there a way to avoid this? Or a certain fabric to use?
Similar to the pics I’ve attached but using Tesla ac to keep it cool. I’m aware the photos I provided wouldn’t work at all. But this is what I’m imagining in my head. Looking for ideas/options/ideas!

Anyone try this to cover one side of the gap between the front and rear seats in a model 3

I’m prepping for solo camping with a twin mattress and only plan to flip half the back seat

Was thinking of getting this right cover (so I can still reach for things and use a single rear seat if I wanted to. )

Anyone try this arrangement ?

On the way to North Cape

It doesn't always have to be a fancy setup to go camping in the car.

Got a mattress for free, and it fits pretty well with one of the back seats down. I have been sleeping on it for 10 days now with no problems. Love how I can still sit on the other backseat and work on the computer before bed.

Alpin,TX to Santa Elena Canyon (Big Bend National Park)

Hey all,

I’m on a road trip right now in my 2026 Premium Model Y with a reported 357mi of range at 100%.

I REALLY want to go to Santa Elena Canyon in big bend but, the reality is that this location is remote as all heck. I have always wanted to go and just wade in the rio grand while looking at the canyon. Just one of those mystic settings I’ve always wanted to experience. I can still make a reservation at the national park but, I’m unsure if it is wise.

Alpine Texas appears to be the only Tesla super charger within a 150mi radius.

Has anyone done this trip in their tesla?

The Tesla m."Y" is the core of an excellent camping trip, if you choose appropriately (which: utility, size, portability, price, etc.) the accessories that make your life easier

I mention the essentials: 12V refrigerator, folding chairs, a good mattress, camping table with shelf, and stackable folding boxes. And a quick assembly tent, of course.

Camping is experiencing an explosion in popularity across Europe and other countries. Every month, new and higher-quality campsites are appearing. In this case, I apply MINIMALISM

https://preview.redd.it/by4b7sgxe91h1.jpg?width=916&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdd18c5b4f5807ffd023a9439de87854ee8f1f12

I also see unprecedented numbers of vehicles (both on the roads and in parking areas) that are suitable or adapted for camping.

I consider the segment formed by couples (two people) to be an important one, as they are increasingly excited to experience this natural way of vacationing or taking quick trips to the countryside, mountains, or coast.

It would be very beneficial for SUV manufacturers to develop their vehicles with features that facilitate their use at campsites. For example: a 12V power outlet for a refrigerator, camp mode climate control, more storage space for accessories, etc.

A removable section of the rear roof rail cover with an area for attaching a tablet holder would be a fantastic addition for overnight camping trips.

Ideal position in Tesla "Y" to watch a video on a tablet (hanging from the ceiling and rear crossbar) while I fall asleep.

https://preview.redd.it/f0fyn8b3zy0h1.jpg?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=369126a226143e583ee2dd058d95686db083245d

There are tablet stands with strong suction that you can buy online, but they cost over €40, but I prefer to develop ideas and, if possible, make them myself with simple materials.

I'll share my invention with you soon.

If you're using the rear parcel shelf, it's assumed you have it installed in the Model Y. And in that case, you'll have serious difficulties getting in and out to sleep through the rear hatch. Isn't that right?

Long-term living/camping in a Tesla?

Hey everyone,

I’m seriously considering living out of my Tesla for an extended period—or at least doing some very long-term roadtripping and camping. Before I go all-in, I wanted to reach out to this community.

Has anyone here actually done this for a significant amount of time (several weeks or even months)?

I’d love to get your insights on a few things:

  • What was the overall experience like? (How did you handle humidity, Camp Mode battery drain, and general space management?)
  • What are your "pro-tips" for daily life? (Where do you usually shower, how do you manage laundry, and any secrets for finding the best overnight spots?)
  • The Sleeping Setup: This is the make-or-break factor for me. I’ve heard that Snuuzu mattresses are supposed to be pretty cool/high-quality. Does anyone here use one daily? Is it worth the investment for long-term use, or is there a better alternative I should look into?

Thanks in advance for any advice or stories you can share!

Can you charge at superchargers with these?

Thinking of getting a cargo carrier like this so we can keep the bed in the back set up all the time. This way we don’t have to shuffle around cargo every night. The issue is can we get close enough to chargers to charge? Has anyone tried these and know for sure?

Grand Design Imagine AIM 19MLA

We have a 2026 Tesla Model X Plaid and are looking at the GD Imagine AIM 19MLA. Just thought we would check with the community and see if anyone had any experience with this unit with their Tesla. Big investment and thought we’d crowd source the good and the bad. Thanks!

Things I learned as a solo MY carport camper….

New to the camping world so I definitely wanted to do a dry run before a full send in nature. Below are a few things I was surprised about. Feel free to add to it!

  1. Camp mode was too quiet for me😅. I’m used to dogs snoring and a noise machine so it was hard to fall asleep.
  2. The stylus for the screen was needed for me! I have long arms, but reaching for the screen got old after a while.
  3. Amazon window shades didn’t block as much light as I thought. Also didn’t like the fact that if I even looked at the door wrong that they popped out. Considering the Havnby full window ones.
  4. Camp mode seat profile was needed. I didn’t realize that I couldn’t move the driver seat up from the screen. Maybe I’m missing something though? Either way, I created a seat profile to move the seat up.
  5. Official Tesla mattress was very comfortable! My only complaint was it didn’t seem tall enough( 5’7/67inch/170cm female). Not sure if it’s just because the seats weren’t all the way up or if I just need a taller mattress. I found myself laying horizontal so that I wasn’t touching the trunk door.
  6. Seat slope wasn’t an issue for me (I have a bed that I elevate the head though).

Havnby’s SnugNest Back Seat Mattress + Extension Pad Bundle for the Cybertruck Review

Hi Cyber Team -

I just tried out Havnby’s SnugNest Back Seat Mattress + Extension Pad Bundle for the Cybertruck and honestly… I’m pretty mixed on it.

Right away I was kinda let down that it doesn’t match the aesthetics of their other Tesla products. Their Model Y variant is clean white and grey with a nice custom sheet. This one’s clearly made for whatever truck they used in their marketing — it’s this weird beige/brown color that just doesn’t feel right in the Cybertruck. A custom sheet would’ve helped a lot.

Inflating the mattress itself was super easy, but the extension pad is a pain. You have to connect the inflator hose to the tube on the pad, and it’s really hard to do it from the door side. Mine ended up a little uneven because of that.

That said, once it’s set up, the mattress feels amazing. The support is excellent and it was shockingly comfortable even in the desert heat. The rear vent hits you perfectly in the back while you’re laying down — that part was legit awesome. I actually want to try sleeping without the extension pad just so I can stretch out more, but I’m too scared of kicking the rear screen.

My only real complaint is there’s no head support at all. I get why they did it, but my elbow sinks way too deep and there’s nothing good for my neck. Here’s a video example. I’m 6’1” and I already know from trying to rest on the back seats at a charger how bad that can get.

Overall I’m really impressed with how the mattress feels, but at $428 they should’ve included a custom sheet, at least offered better color options, and maybe tossed in a phone holder AND cup holder. I saw similar stuff on Amazon for a quarter of the price that came with extras like that and i can imagine it being a pain to drop your phone between this mattress and having to get out.

I’d give it 3.5 out of 5. The comfort is seriously that good — it’s just the little things holding it back from being perfect. Hopefully with this feedback they will make a perfect mattress for us taller Cybertruck owners.

Thank you to u/Havnby_Dan and u/takaiguchi for all your help with all my questions on this.
