This happened to me without warning. I mean, what the hell!? The weird thing is, the watch still works. I'm no longer wearing it to avoid battery shock 😨

Was 20 minutes into a movie when I heard what sounded like a bomb going off behind me. Looked out the window to see the wall of the abandoned house next door had finally collapsed after bowing out for years. My landlord's been reporting that place to the city since before we moved in. The city did fuck all and now I'm in a motel because the fire department's worried the roof might slide down and hit us. Landlord put me and the cats up and he even volunteered to pick up some supplies for them that I couldn't bring with me.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the final straw for the wall was almost certainly the owner finally hiring people to clear out the overgrowth on the property (probably ordered to by the city). Whoever they hired clearly didn't know or care about the danger that comes with ripping vines out of brickwork. Those vines were probably the only thing holding that wall up.

I'm in the process of digitizing thousands of photos from my parents' house and found these: my dad must have been flying out of Logan shortly after the World Airways Flight 30 accident. Thought this sub might appreciate them. Threw in a few random BOS shots as well from the same batch.

This is my Dancing Wings DLG. I think i’ve yet to take this thing out for a flight session without something breaking. It’s partly down to the pilot, partly the thrower, and partly the quality of the design and materials.

the first couple of flights the wing ripped off the fuselage because the mounting was just not robust enough. I modified it to be a four point mount with the front two being thru bolted through the fuselage.

Then the whole back end came off right at the spot where the carbon tail boom stops. that happened twice. i’ve reinforced with extra balsa and epoxy and we’re good for now.

Then I took it to a highschool track meet and had some of the discus throwers huck it. After the second throw the tail broke off again and in the resulting crash the nose got bent up and the vertical stabilizer snapped off.

Today we had probably 10+ successful launches/flights until a nasty stall at about 20ft sent it nose first into the grass. we tried for one more flight and the cockpit cover flew off and the battery flew out. you can see how the landing went.

I’m pretty happy with my repairs and the fact that the wing itself has held up. The fuselage design though, not very robust.

the screen still works fine, it just detached itself from the base. I tried putting it back by pressure but it just detached itself again after awhile 😭 I can’t really tell if the battery is bloated either. should i just go to a third party and fix it or to an authorized apple store?
