[Possible WAN Show topic] Phoebe Gates, Bill Gates's daughter, involved in alleged cookie stuffing scheme with her Phia browser extension

From Futurism.com:

>Phia is a “personal shopping assistant” browser extension, which is designed to lead users to the best deals for clothes and fashion accessories. When a shopper uses the extension to buy something, Phia earns a commission from the retailer.

>However, as Bloomberg first reported on July 9, Phia was also found to have claimed commissions on sales that never involved its product. The extension was found to open a background tab and drop its own cookie when users made a sale, while even overriding legitimate referrals.

This sounds kind of like sweet dejà vu. Maybe Linus should get on the case ASAP and warn everyone in the community lest he gets accused of being part of a cover-up.

TV Placement in GTA 5: A Prospective Study

1 - Michael's house - living room: Above the fireplace, rolling down from the roof. Sound must suck with only those two tiny speakers up top. Proof that money doesn't buy good judgement. 5/10

2 - Michael's house - master suite: It could be lower, but meant to be watched in bed, so it gets a pass. Being misaligned with the bed doesn't. Also busy surroundings and glare from the lights. 6/10

3- Michael's house - Jimmy's room: Another one to be watched from the bed, but the TV seems to be running away from the bed. 5/10

4 - Michael's house - Tiffany's Tracey's room: Too small, too high, too far, misaligned with the bed. Her TV privileges as a child will come up in therapy. 3/10

*I'm stupid and wrote the wrong name

5 - Franklin's aunt's house: Not being over the fireplace shows sense. Being on the corner undoes that. At least at a sensible height. 7/10

6 - Franklin's house: Bro goes up in life and so does his TV. More proof money doesn't buy good judgement. Some furniture issues going on too, must be cleaning day. 6/10

7 - Trevor's trailer - common area: He finally broke down and bought himself a plasma TV. 2/10

8 - Trevor's trailer - bedroom: The position from the bed wasn't bad when it did work. 8/10

9 - Lester's house: Very sensible to be watched from the bed. He probably watches most of his stuff sitting on a PC chair anyway. 9/10

10 - Mansion: 👏 Money 👏 Doesn't 👏 Buy 👏 Good 👏 Judgement 👏 What do these people have against necks? 4/10

11 - Luxury apartment: On the console, centered, solid speakers. Someone could afford good judgement, after all. 10/10

12 - Apartment: When you know the height it should be, but not anything else. Off center to everyone and that glare can cause eye damage. 4/10

13 - Casino penthouse - master suite lounge: The console was right there and you ghosted it. 7.5/10

14 - Casino penthouse - master suite bedroom: Good height to watch from the bed, small for the distance. 7/10

15 - Casino penthouse - theater: Good all around, if a little too high for the front row. 9.5/10

16 - Yacht: Height acceptable, but small, too far and to the side of everyone. 5/10

17 - Agency - personal quarters: When you want to make sure nobody's neck will ever be straight both vertically and horizontally. 4.5/10

18 - Agency - meeting room: Appropriate for its function, does what it should. Whoever sits on the chair closest to the TV will have to move. 8.5/10

19 - Agency - break room: A little too high, but otherwise fine. A company could do way worse for its employees. 8/10

20 - Facility break room: High, far and small, but centered and functional. Clearly allergic to consoles. 6/10

Was the rocket made of cardboard or cardboard derivatives?

Chinese Long March rocket failed about 80 seconds after take off on August 10, 2026.

That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point.

(I unfortunately can't post the video by Scott Manley where he literally says the front fell off at around 30 seconds).

Can we start removing posts that break Rule 1 already?

A significant number of posts here show what are clearly intentional reflections of people actually posing for the picture, usually women using thirst as a sales strategy. Those break Rule 1 (All posts must be of unintentional reflections) and often Rule 2 (No intentionally funny/artistic reflections) and never get removed.

The very sub description is dedicated to clearing that up: "Your post must be an unintentional reflection and not a staged shot. It does not have to be a mirror, but it does have to be an accidental reflection." Yet, that's rarely if ever enforced.

Curiously, as I'm typing this, there are not one, but two warnings related to Rule 1 sandwiching the text field, as seen in the picture I attached to the post (I can't post it without one). You'd imagine that indicates this is an important aspect to be observed by the moderators and acted upon.

To be clear, I'm not shitting on the posters themselves. Well, I am a little bit because they failed to abide by the very first rule of the sub, but it's not like they're rubbing their hands and cackling like a cartoon super villain as they post. I'm sure they have good intentions, but you know what they say about those.

Maybe someone should create a sub dedicated to people intentionally appearing on the mirror when advertising them for sale, I'd have zero issues with that. But I do have issues with people misunderstanding the purpose of this sub.

Thanks for surviving my Ted Talk.

For the past few days, sometimes I can't up/downvote posts on the main feed after opening a post in a new tab [Windows 10 Firefox]

It happens randomly. I open a post in a new tab, maybe leave a comment, and then I can't up/downvote anything when I go back to the main feed tab until I refresh it.

WTF?

Things I've tried:

- Nothing.

Stop showing repeated posts, especially if I've already interacted with them (my idea is)

Sometimes, the same post appears again two three posts down, sometimes the same post appears two or three days later (exact numbers do vary, of course, it might be a couple of hours later or whatever). They often appear on my feed after I've already up/downvoted or even commented on them.

That's wasted real estate, showing me the same post twice (or more) means I'm not seeing other posts that could interest me.

LTT's gold Xbox controller mentioned in "most expensive gaming things" video by Gameranx

It's number 9 on the list.

Linus said on the WAN Show a couple of years back he didn't know Gameranx. This might be a good opportunity for him to check out the channel, they're pretty solid imo. Bonus points if he leaves a comment with some inside knowledge on the controller saga (Gameranx claims it's still for sale, I believe that's true).

Updated KernelSU app and it now says the version mismatches the KSU driver, won't let me access Modules or Superuser sections

I'm just smart enough to root my phone but not to make sense of any of this. How do I fix that?

Root is still working.
