Is there any (non-mod) working method to enter Trevor's trailer in online solo?

The method of landing a helicopter on top of the garage and pulling the pilot out still works, but that requires 2 people.

I tried glitching in the corner to left of the garage door and in the space between the porch and door on the front, but I assume those have been patched long ago because they didn't work after hours trying. Even flying a Thruster under the map as I saw in a video from 6 months ago failed, there seems to be an invisible block under the floor that impedes entering from below.

Does anyone know a way to enter the trailer solo?

(I know the question is not about modding, but I asked in the GTA glitches sub and got no replies.)

What legal provision in US law prohibits Dbrand from selling the Companion Cube skin for the Steam Machine without a license?

EDIT: I do appreciate all the replies so far saying that obviously Dbrand can't use Valve's IP, but none of them answer the question. I want legal provisions that say as much, i.e., some law or similar regulation. Something a Valve lawyer would cite in their case (I assume they'd not argue, "Your Honor, obviously they can't, duh").

Context: Dbrand is a company that makes skins for phones and computers. They created a hard plastic shell in the shape of a Companion Cube to be applied over the Steam Machine, Valve's new console-like PC. The Companion Cube is featured in the video game Portal, made by Valve.

Valve didn't take kindly to the idea because Dbrand didn't have a license to use the Companion Cube in their products, so now Dbrand has pulled the plug on the skin and issued refunds.

In another sub discussing the situation, someone argued the following:

>Isn't a skin merely something that applies to the surface of a device? What protectable IP, i.e., patent, trademark, trade secret, or copyright, would a skin producer need a license for? Please cite sections of US Code and/or caselaw that supports your argument. ELI5. Ill wait.

To me, that is intuitively BS because you can't just use a graphical element that's part of a copyrighted work without a license. Just try to sell a T-shirt with Mickey Mouse or Mario without a license and you're all but guaranteed that Disney or Nintendo will sue you to oblivion no matter how much you argue a T-shirt is merely something that applies to the surface of a body.

Can anyone provide the US legal provisions that apply to this situation and prohibit Dbrand from selling a product depicting the Companion Cube without a license?

Valve is an American company while Dbrand is from Canada if that matters.

(Sorry if I misused any terminology, clearly I'm not a lawyer.)

Friendly reminder that the normiest of normies walk among us

In the video yesterday where Linus bought Yvonne a new laptop, she wasn't able to name USB-A and USB-C. She also said she didn't know the brand or model of her old laptop and couldn't be sure whether it had a touchscreen or not.

This is not throwing shade at Yvonne, quite the contrary. She has no obligation of knowing technical details of computers because she's not a nerd. A laptop is a tool she uses for work, entertainment and hobbies, not a device she fawns over.

Mind you, she's the wife of one of the biggest tech youtubers and has worked closely with the channel for years, yet she isn't knowledgeable in these basic details. And that's fine, because she's not part of the tech staff.

So, next time you have to explain something about PCs, phones, routers, networking, TVs and whatever else related to tech to family and friends (or enemies, I don't judge), remember to go easy on them. The vast majority of people couldn't care less about data bandwidth, core counts, power delivery or any of the stats that are second nature to many of us, they just want to press a few buttons and get things done.

[video idea] Make a PC water cooled with a waterfall

[camera zoomed in on the Linus's face as he's walking]

Linus: The other day [some other host] said I should leave the house more and touch grass and he invited me to come on a hike to a waterfall. When I asked what to bring, he said only the essentials. So that's what we did!

[camera zooms out to show Linus and the other host are carrying PCs and monitors strapped to their backpacks along with battery banks]

[small talk about how they're so into some game they want to play it all the time as they hike along a river]

[they arrive at the waterfall and immediately being setting up the PCs]

Linus: Oh, no! My water reservoir is cracked and empty! [to the other host] We'll need to improvise, buddy!

Other host: Well, you're lucky I brought some flexible tubing and my tools, including my LTT screwdriver! LTTstore.com

Linus: That's very smart of you! Almost as smart as our sponsor!

[ad spot, Vessi would be fitting]

[They proceed to jerry rig a contraption using an LLT water bottle with the bottom cut off to act as a funnel connected to tubing that feeds directly into the water block with another piece of tubing directing the outflow back to the river. Shenanigans ensue, possibly with a jump scare as water starts splashing everywhere. Mandatory Linus trips over and falls on the water, but hopefully doesn't drop the case on the river. Video ends with them playing while partially submerged in the water in the most outdoorsy lan party ever.]

***********************************************************************************************

It could be a fun summer video with a typical LTT jank build based on a silly, kind of surreal premise.

Alex and Jake once water cooled a PC straight from the tap while Linus was away from the office because he wouldn't approve of the idea for being wasteful if I remember it correctly, this would be an eco-friendly variation of that.

EDIT: Removed code block formatting that caused the script to have no text wrapping.

I get this message whenever I reload Reddit on a private window. How do I disable this? I found nothing in settings. I do not want to lower my tracking protection, but I do want to reload the page. Will clicking on "Don't show again" automatically lower protections whenever I reload? I hate this.

I really hate this.

Windows, if that makes any difference.

What do yall who don't root your daily driver actually need root for?

It's very common to see comments here in the line of, "You're crazy if you root your primary phone" as if rooting should be reserved only to secondary devices people do not depend on on a daily basis. That deeply puzzles me since, in my understanding, root is supposed to afford you some features and conveniences you'd not get in stock Android and I cannot imagine why you'd want that not in your main phone.

The only reason I can imagine for rooting a non-daily driver is for pure entertainment, for tinkering with no proper goal other than the challenge itself, possibly to have a test platform because you're developing software for other rooted devices. Maybe spoofing location to reap rewards in games like Pokemon Go or even explore offerings on Tinder (or Grindr, you do you) outside your local area. Beyond that, I can only think of very shady, potentially illegal things one wants to achieve while avoiding incriminating themselves by not using their main device.

FWIW, I've rooted every Android phone I've had because I want to limit battery charge to 80% and automatically record calls (single-party consent is fine where I live, calm down). Full backups of apps too, it saved my ass when WhatsApp didn't have a proper backup feature. Some other things like blocking adds in first-party apps (thanks, Xiaomi) or adding functionality to WhatsApp are a nice, but secondary, bonus.

I'm not judging (well, maybe I will depending on the shadiness of the reasons), I just want to understand why anyone would root a phone/tablet that's not their main one.

Tip for those having signal issues with their magic remotes: Check whether your devices are connected to wifi in the 2.4 GHz band

That's the same band used by the remote to communicate with the TV, so there could be significant interference.

A couple of weeks ago, my TV started throwing warnings that the remote signal was unstable. The cursor was erratic and pressing buttons often had no effect. I re-paired the remote a dozen times, and even re-pairing would fail repeatedly until it went through. After some serious googling with no solution, I had the idea of turning off my phone's wifi (my PC is connected to the router via cable) and that immediately solved the issue. I then connected it again using the 5 GHz band and the problem didn't come back. I tested reverting to 2.4 GHz and, presto!, there was the interference again.

2.4 GHz has much better range than 5 GHz, so my phone probably connected to it first while I as still on the street when coming back home. I then started a large download and the constant data stream messes with the connection between the TV and the remote. My router also sits close to the TV, which certainly doesn't help. If you can't avoid the 2.4 GHz band for wifi, at least place the router away from the TV.

I didn't find anyone pointing this out in countless posts and videos, just instructions on how to re-pair the remote, so I'm leaving this here to potentially help people with the same issue. If you got here from Google after fighting with your remote forever, drop a comment.
