Can bowling clubs solve male loneliness?

Hey! Nate here - I'm an independent filmmaker and documentarian, as well as the one pictured in the cool Hawaiian shirt.

I spent the last two months diving deep on the so-called "male loneliness epidemic," speaking with everyone from a world-renowned psychologist to the manager of an 102-year-old bowling alley. Plus: I staged a bowling tournament for 16 male podcasters.

The Rehearsal was a huge inspiration to both our story and visuals. Tried to capture that same observational, hyper-specific human energy.

I'll drop the YouTube link in the comments for anyone interested in watching. And let me know what I should investigate next!

How much of the show is genuine care from Nathan?

The Rehearsal was the first time I’ve ever seen anything made by Nathan Fielder. I thought he was genuinely like an autistic guy who HBO gave money to who genuinely wanted to help people “rehearse” life scenarios. I know, I’m an idiot.

I’m now watching Nathan for You. I see now with “poop flavored” frozen yogurt it’s all just a bit. Which is funny, just didn’t know it was the same for the rehearsal

So my question is, did he genuinely feel a connection to that one kid in the finale of s1? Has he spoken publicly about regretting a decision to use kids (outside of s2 where he talked about not using autistic kids in the airport)? Did he really care about pilot communication in the cockpit? Are there any speaking’s (talk shows/podcasts) he’s given where he’s not really in character?

Edit: I don’t want me assuming he’s autistic to be a bad thing. Just that’s the vibe he gave off. Like super detail oriented. Lacking a lot of eye contact, not picking up on certain social cues

What if Boythrob isn’t Nathan?

I mean at this point, Boythrob HAS to be in season three of The Rehearsal right? It is such a topic of conversation that if season three isn’t about Boythrob then it’s going to be a disappointment because that’s kind of what everyone wants? That’s what everyone is waiting to see right?

This whole thing has kind of set up season 3 for higher standards now. Because if it’s not Boythrob then people are going to want to see something better.
