My girlfriend lives in Guadalajara, the first time I met her family I had about 80 hours and couldn’t understand shit. Today I went back with 400 hours and my progress is lining up with the roadmap, if a person talks to me with patience and a slow pace it’s pretty easy for me to understand what they are saying, even without visual context. I also dabbled in some speaking, as a show of respect towards her family, and there is definitely a lot missing there, but I was still very proud of myself for the little I could speak. I like to remind myself how much I spoke before this program… ZERO. I’m not going to continue speaking Spanish once I leave, I will return to being a mute listener.

I feel like the videos in superbeginner and beginner are higher in production and were more engaging? It seemed like they really have been trying recently to make them more engaging, but in intermediate it’s really rare that I see a video and go “yeah this video seems like it would interest me”. I don’t know if it’s that I’m getting tired of dreaming Spanish as whole and mistaking it as strictly an intermediate thing. Recently I have been branching out of dreaming Spanish to more creators on YouTube because I feel like the topics are more engaging.
