Park anxiety but not ride anxiety??

I adore coasters. Im scared of heights but ive overcome it dozens of times just to ride, and im usually fine after a few rides. But the worst anxiety comes before ive even gotten to the car to drive over. Maybe its because ive got anxious people around me or something, but I always get really negative and worried thoughts before I go and then immediately lighten up when I enter the park. Does anyone know someway that I can chill out? Is this common for you?

Thrill Guide: Theme Park Planner

Hi everyone, I am trying to design this trip planner focused on theme parks. It is an AI-powered travel application tailored for global roller coaster enthusiasts.

The app focuses on comprehensive trip logistics, allowing users to chain multiple theme parks together (up to three for now) and customize the itinerary based on parameters, including "Budget Mode" or an "I Feel Adventurous" mode that adds local sightseeing and buffer days.

For accommodation, it uses "Flippable Hotel Cards" to instantly reveal cheaper alternatives nearby, complete with side-by-side details, star ratings, and live Google Review scores. The system also handles comprehensive budgeting, providing a real-time expense breakdown, analyzing car rental versus public transit feasibility, and aggregating "Live Deals" like promotional discount codes.

https://thrill.optionslab.us/thrill

Once finalized, users can save and export the full itinerary directly to Google Docs or PDF.

Favorite selection of parks and dates are supported too.

For now in only considers US airports as starting point and has a handful of countries/parks as destination.

Here is link for full list of features - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vo5PG-g_binjsYXfaRdNeKtxCRhBily4SjZzhwArtLc/edit?usp=sharing

Known major issues:

- live airplane ticket pricing is not 100% reliable, but close.

- it doesn't look great on a mobile phone, but it is functional.

Please, feel free to browse the app and provide any feedback.

Let me know if something like this should exist and if I'm missing any major features.

Appreciate all and any support :)

Universal UK Resort Week 15: Broadmead Road Shut, Roman Cemetery Found & Primary Construction Now Underway

The project crossed a line this week. This is no longer enabling works. Primary construction infrastructure is now actively underway across every zone simultaneously.

The road situation

Broadmead Road closed Monday 11 May until 12 June. Full closure between Woburn Road junction and Hansons Reach Roundabout. Two permanent site access points being built during the closure serving the West Gateway and Core Zones. Railway level crossing getting structural improvements at the same time.

Manor Road on stop and go until mid June while a permanent crossing is built connecting the Lake Zone directly to the Core Zone. When you see dual zone connectivity infrastructure going in like this, mass earthmoving is close.

On site

The old brickworks concrete slab is becoming a permanent operational base. Hardstanding being laid across a large acreage, permanent steel Heras fencing going up along southern boundaries, modular site offices being installed. This is Universal locking in the long term site layout.

Underground drainage trenches dug near the primary entrance, heavy duty piping laid and compacted. Permanent utility ducting concreted into the Manor Road entrance. Internal haul road through the Core Zone is largely graded but hasn't bridged the central drainage ditch yet. Temporary bypass in use until a permanent culvert goes in.

The archaeology is genuinely remarkable

This is the bit that doesn't get enough attention.

The Roman farmstead at the West Gateway has been fully signed off and demobilised. That zone is cleared for construction.

The Lake Zone has entered its active survey phase with two significant sites now being worked. The S1 site is a 0.53 hectare Roman sub square enclosure. The E1 site is 5.3 hectares and contains what appears to be a late Roman settlement and a potential cemetery.

A 2,000 year old Roman cemetery is being carefully excavated and documented before Jurassic Park rides go on top of it. You could not write this.

Core Zone scrapes along Manor Road are nearly complete with teams shifting from digging to documenting. Heavy excavator movement in the central fields has visibly reduced.

Ecology

Reptile exclusion fencing still rings the interior ponds. Ecologists actively monitoring and confirming species displacement before summer earthworks begin. Environmental compliance on a project this size is genuinely rigorous and sits firmly on the critical path.

The honest timeline read

S4 signed off. Core Zone archaeology winding down. Lake Zone surveys now active. If both zones get archaeological clearance by summer, mass earthmoving begins on schedule. 2031 still looks achievable but the Lake Zone clock is now ticking. 🎢

Which park next?

I’m planning to do a European theme park trip for the Halloween season, since I really enjoy horror mazes and thrill attractions. So far I’ve visited Europa-Park, Thorpe Park and PortAventura World. What would be a good option for this year? I’m looking for a park with both intense rides and a genuinely scary Halloween event. Thanks!

Irrational fear of coasters

So I have the silliest and biggest fear of coasters. I’m desperate to get over them so I need to start small - can anyone recommend a theme park in the uk that I could go to? I’ve watched vlogs on Thorpe park and every coaster is giving me anxiety lol they all look massive and fast and for real thrill seekers which I wish I was but as soon as I sit in the seat I have to get off 🫠

Tips for 1 day visits to these parks in July

This summer I will be doing a huge trip, due to circumstances I had to plan it in July.
Now I have made sure that most visits are on weekdays so it is a tiny bit less crowded than the summer weekends.

In most parks I want to ride unique coasters, so I will be skipping SLC's and most kiddy rides and most flatrides or even water rides. Water rides are mostly a skip because of backpacking and having to dry up everytime etc. There's some exceptions of course. However, I have currently only planned 1 day in each park. Below is a list of all the parks and the rides I for sure want to ride.

Do you think that 1 day is enough in every park with these rides that I want to ride?
Do you think I would need a fastpass in these parks?
I'm visiting most parks alone so I can do single lines too where possible.

Just wanna know what you all think, I'm visiting most parks for the first time so that's why I'm asking.

  1. Heidepark (All of them besides Toxic Garden and Indyblitz)
  2. Hansapark
  3. Liseberg (Helix, Balder, Valkyria, LisebergBanan, don't care about the rest )
  4. Kolmarden
  5. Gröna Lund (Hitting Monster, wanted Vilde Musen and Jetline but yeah RIP)
  6. LinanMaki (just going to hit up Taiga mainly)
  7. Energylandia (Want to hit Zadra, Hyperion, Abyssus, Formula, Speed and Dragon)
  8. Europapark (been before mainly want to hit Voltron, new Powered coaster, Wodan, Silver star, Bobsled, matterhorn blitz, Piraten and the river rapids, maybe Euromir because final season)

Help me decide what to do on my Orlando trip! First time visiting Florida parks with my husband.

Hi everyone! My husband (32M) and I (33F) are heading to Orlando this week, staying at a Universal resort. We’re super excited but could use some advice on how to make the most of our three full days there.

Here’s what we’re thinking:
\- One day at Islands of Adventure because we both love Harry Potter.
\- The next day, we’re torn between Universal Studios and Epcot. Do you have a preference if those are the only two parks we visit? Or is there another park you’d recommend instead?
\- For the third day, since we don’t plan to go back anytime soon, should we do a third park? Or maybe something more chill like Medieval Times or a museum? Would Gatorland be fun? Is there anything else you would suggest for visiting Orlando - especially as a couple from Minnesota?

A bit of background:
\- I’ve been to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Islands of Adventure before (like 15 years ago).
\- This is my husband’s first time in Florida and at any theme parks.
\- We love Harry Potter, so at least Islands of Adventure is a must for us, but not sure if we should do another park to maximize the Harry Potter stuff.
\- We also enjoy exploring, different cultures, and taking our time, so Epcot sounds appealing for a relaxed day.

Would love any suggestions or tips! Thanks in advance!

Energylandia Tickets

Hello! We’re traveling to Energylandia on Friday and will be staying at Western Camp Resort. Right now there’s a 2+1 ticket promotion on the Energylandia homepage.
Should I buy the tickets online now, or wait and buy them at Western Camp where a Fast Pass is included?
In other words:
Buying the tickets online = 2+1 free, but without a Quick Pass
Buying them at Western Camp Resort = 3 full-price tickets, but with a Quick Pass included
Thanks!

Europa-Park 2026 High Quality Map

When I was planning our Europa-Park visit, I missed an up to date map in jpg/png/pdf. The interactive map on their website doesn't provide a very good big picture perspective of the park, and you can't highlight stuff in it. So here is the high quality photo of park map I obtained physically on site, hopefully it helps some of you with your planning :)

If you use reddit in mobile app and it doesn't show in full quality, download the image, then you should have the 5518 x 3279 px version.

Headed to [Busch Gardens Tampa] and [Sea World Orlando] - Tips?

Headed to BGT and SWO this week. Any insider tips? Does anyone know if rides have generally been open? How have operations been lately? I know there posts that aren't open 12 months/year are a bit rough going. Are the Florida parks better? I'm hoping that Monday-Friday crowds will be manageable since it's before Memorial Day. Is that a reasonable expectation? How is the loose article/bin/locker situation? Thanks in advance!

Help me identify this forgotten waterpark. Where was I?

I’m trying to identify a water park my family visited in Malaysia back in 2002.

I’m hoping for someone (literally anyone) that can help me solve this mystery as I’ve been going down a rabbit hole and I would question the existence of this place if it wasn't for the photo evidence.

Key Features:

- likely located in Penang

- photos were taken in 2002

- had a wave pool

- was on the rooftop of a shopping centre

Note. I have already ruled out Pandan Safari lagoon, Sunway Lagoon, A'Famosa and Bukit Merah Laketown.

Can anyone please tell me anything about this place?

The Theme Park Iceberg (2026 Edition)

Hello!

I work in video marketing, but I love making very long theme park reviews in my spare time. I came across this iceberg that reddit user B217 created over 5 years ago now! With his permission, I am planning to bring the attached image to life as a video and update it with new information!

So, my dear reader, is there something that is currently not in this iceberg that YOU believe should be on there? The aforementioned B217 has already asked for an addition, and I want to get as many theme park lovers to contribute to it as possible!

I will, of course, give you the credit for that entry, and I am super excited to work on this!

Thank you!

Strong Strike Authorization Vote Underway at Hersheypark, Hershey Hotel & Giant Center

Just saw some updates on the labor situation at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. All three properties — Hersheypark, the Hershey Hotel, and the Giant Center — are currently holding strike authorization votes. Turnout has been notably strong over the past three days, with union members showing up consistently from morning through evening to cast their ballots.

They’re hoping for some real movement from the company before the end of this week, but after rejecting three contracts from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (He&R), it looks like a strike is the likely next step. No official results will be released until every vote is counted.

The company already knows exactly what the union is demanding, yet negotiations remain stalled. They’ve put three contracts on the table that were essentially identical, with the third one actually being a step backward. All three were rejected by the membership — which is why this strike vote is now underway.

After three straight rejections, it seems the company keeps offering more of the same instead of addressing the core issues.

🚨Big thanks to u/Hungry-Dog-8560 for this suggestion:

“If anyone is looking to actually get their voice heard in support, I would recommend sending a comment to Hershey amusement corporate. They have a guest relations page with a space where you can send comments/questions. A real human answers you and sends your feedback up the chain. Tell them you will never go to Hershey again if the park has to close down due to them not giving their workers a fair deal.”

If you’re following this, feel free to share your thoughts below. Hoping the workers get a fair deal.

UNION STRONG

SeaWorld + Legoland combo tickets?

Planning a San Diego trip with the family this summer. SeaWorld was already the plan, but now the keeps asking to go Legoland after watching videos of it. been looking at combo tickets for both parks and trying to work out if they're actually decent value.

Anyone done but recently? And is Legoland worth giving a full day to, or would you spend that time elsewhere?

Visiting Eftelling

Hi all, can I ask if anyone had been to Eftelling in Netherlands, would you say it's worth around 3-3.30 hrs of train ride (one way btw) to go visit ?

I've been to Phantasialand and been to all Disneyland around the world and many told me that Eftelling is in a way second best theme park in Europe. It's a long journey from where I'm staying but if it's truly once in a lifetime journey that I wouldn't mind so much.

Thanks in advance!
