Touchscreen mini thermal imaging

Recently, I played with a small thermal imaging device. The screen is very clear and the touch operation is convenient. What I like most is that it is sturdy, waterproof and shockproof. Using it outdoors is completely stress-free.

Does anyone else feel like mobile thermal management has hit a wall, or is it just the current optimization?

I’ve been putting my iPhone 17 Pro Max through its paces over the last couple of weeks, running heavy benchmarks like 3DMark stress tests and some high-end gaming.

Visually, the performance is incredible, but the thermal throttling kicks in way faster than I expected for a device with this much power under the hood. It feels like the hardware is capable of absolute monster output, but the passive cooling just can't keep up with the sustained load before it dims the screen or drops frames.

For those who push their devices hard: are you noticing a steep drop-off during long sessions on the latest iOS, or are you using external cooling setups/specific settings tweaks to keep the frames stable? Curious to see what benchmarks or stability percentages everyone else is getting.

Interest in body temp camera?

Recently came into a BTM-15 camera system, made by an Australian company. Looks like a commercial camera for large scale screening of body temps, but I have no use for it. Anyone know where I could even sell something like this?

I can't find that much info on it besides from an Australian security website selling it.

Best value thermal monoculars when comparing price to performance?

My budget is about $1500 USD but is flexible.

Here in Australia been hearing that the best price to performance value is the HIKMICRO LYNX LH25 2.0 Thermal Monocular for about $1500 USD. Also in AU one of the best sellers is the Guide TE421 but is a $1000 USD one when I'm willing to spend $1500 USD.

From the USA heard for $1500 USD the AGM Taipan V2 19-384 is the best. Here in Australia Taipan isn't available though.

In Australia the most popular ones seem to be Hikmicro & Guide, there is also a lot of Pulsar and some Nocpix. Heard a lot of people say Hikmicro is better than Pulsar.

Open to any monocular regardless of availability here, willing to order from overseas if it is really good.

Topdon TC004 picked up this heat pattern on my car after a short drive

Took this front-end scan after a short drive. The radiator/grille area makes sense, but the uneven warmth across the bumper caught my eye.

For those who use thermal on vehicles, do you usually read this as normal heat soak and airflow, or would you compare both sides more closely for anything off?

Thermal Imagers - alternatives to Pulsar for specific use?

I come from the birding world and handheld thermal monoculars are a game changer there, so much easier to find owls and nightjars with less disturbance for the bird.

The key specs for me are, in order:

- large field of view

- good resolution / image quality

- light weight / small size

Long range detection really just doesn't matter, and they are not really used to identify to species level. The larger FOV is fantastic though for scanning around more rapidly in tight quarters.

Pulsar doesn't really make a "birder's dream" combo any more of the best / largest sensor w/ a smaller lens for LESS magnification. I keep an eye on Infiray and Pixfra and Zeiss and Leica but haven't yet seen a really compellingly better product from any of them either. Any other thoughts / comments / recommendations?

AGM Rattler V3 vs Barn Rat

Hunting rats last night with the Diana skyhawk and the rattler v3. 25 yards to my bait station. This was the first rat of the night. (Only shot two. They were wary of the bait station after this one)

In search of a AN/PAS-29 COTI imager eyepiece adapter

I was recently gifted a AN/PAS-29 COTI clip-on thermal imager from a friend and I'm looking for an eyepiece adapter that I can use to turn it into a handheld device.

So far everything I've found is either unavailable or on a scam website.
