Updated stress test two months later, am I still good?

Hi,

About two months ago I installed a WireView Pro II on my MSI Suprim RTX 5090 SOC (air-cooled model) and originally stress tested it in FurMark. I posted the readings at the time and people said everything looked normal based on the pin variance.

Today I ran the 20-minute Speed Way Stress Test in 3DMark and monitored the pin readings again just out of curiosity.

Virtually the entire test, all pins stayed within about 1 point of each other (so lowest would be around 6.0 and highest would be 6.9 or 7.0). Very briefly and very rarely, one or two pins would dip into the 5.x range while another might be in the 7.x range before immediately returning to normal. It would only dip to that number for a literal second before returning to the normal pin, so I’m pretty surprised I got photos.

I attached those photos of a few examples.

Are these kinds of momentary transient dips still considered normal variance, or is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks.

WireView Pro 2 showing pin current imbalance — is this safe? ZOTAC 5090 AMP Extreme INFINITY

Just set up my WireView Pro 2 and I'm seeing some imbalance across the pins. Not trying to fix anything yet — I just want to know if these numbers are within a safe range or if I should be concerned.

Setup:

  • GPU: ZOTAC 5090 AMP Extreme INFINITY
  • Cable: 12V-2x6 PSU Stock
  • PSU: ROG Strix 1200W Platinum ATX 3.1

Got rid of the 4 way splitter

When I first got the Astral 5090 btf oc it came with that ugly 4 way bulky A$$ splitter, that thing should be thrown out before first use in gaming or benching. Pin 1 was always hanging low, one time benching Nomad and Pin 3&5 kicked out high. I got the CableMod E-Series Pro going straight in my 1600 EVGA PSU. I could see a difference in the currents of the Pins immediately. So I added the TG ProII to be on the safe side even though I set up Alert settings in HWiNFO. I only wished the usb 5pin->usb-c would be a bit longer.

To those with the WVP II, why are you all of a sudden removing them?

Hi,

I’ve seen a bunch of comments now of people that are deciding to remove their WireView Pro II’s from their GPU’s. Why are you doing that? I could see if you need to remove it as you are working on your PC and it’s in the way or something along those lines, but I’ve seen tons of comments that read like these people are just removing them for no reason.

Also, I have seen a few comments saying they are afraid of the retention clip or something breaking, doesn’t Thermal Grizzly cover any damage done to the GPU from their product for two years? So even if this were to happen, you’d be covered unless I misunderstand that policy.

Just trying to understand why. I have a MSI Suprim 5090 SOC and there is really no reason to remove it, especially since my Seasonic TX-1600 is only a year old and MSI power supplies (saw people talking about the MSI Safeguard PSU) haven’t exactly shown the market to be trustworthy, especially in comparison to Seasonic PSU’s.

Question: What even is the point of the WIRED version of Wireview Pro2?

If im not mistaken, the software detects the current imbalance from the PSU>Wireview.

If we add another wired 12V 2x6 connector from the Wireview>GPU, if there is current imbalance on the wireview>GPU wire, isn't the whole thing pointless?

Phasesheet vs kryosheet

Howdy yall, for a few months I was running the kryosheet with my aio and loved it until my aio died lol. My new waterblock is a micro convex block and my processor is a 9950x3d (amd heat spreaders are also micro convex). My question is between the phasesheet and the kyrosheet, which would perform better due to the relatively lower mounting pressure outside of the center?

Dear ThermalGrizzly: Kryosheet + Silicone oil?

Hi all,

As title says.

Back a while ago i bought Kryosheet for my Intel 285k i also purchased TG contact frame for LGA1851 so far im am happy.

However back then the Kryosheet did NOT came with "TG silicone oil" flask. In your current videos as seen on YT it does come with the silicone oil. It should make installation a bit easier when putting the cpu cooler.

I was wondering if say i order directly from your website Kryosheet for my secondary PC rig a Intel 13700k does it now comes with "TG silicone oil" flask? Because TG silicone oil is nowhere to be found as a stand alone product.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

WireView Pro II + 5090 Master + AP201 = ✅

Making this post to confirm that this combination of GPU and case works with the WVP2, if someone has a similar setup and was wondering about compatibility. I received my WVP2 yesterday, 11 days after placing the order and exactly on the scheduled day by FedEx (I'm in the Middle East). Paid ~$37 for customs and clearance.

I have the Cooler Master V SFX Platinum 1100 PSU (an early batch that didn't come with a 90-degree 12VHPWR cable), and in order to fit the 5090 Aorus Master, which is officially not compatible with the Asus Prime AP201, I removed the case PSU shroud, rotated the PSU 90-degrees and attached it to front with zip ties. I ordered the Reverse orientation of the WVP2 because I worried the short 12VHPWR cable that came with the PSU might not reach if I got the Normal orientation. But looking at it now it seems like that might have been the better option?

https://preview.redd.it/ssxn1f1wvx1h1.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c658b3c1c7f1d5aadc972a3e09ad674c3f0f938

Excuse the lack of cable management. I was in a hurry to test it and this SFX PSU comes with very short cables that barely reach via the shortest path. My fault for choosing this combination of SFX PSU, mATX case and ITX motherboard (ROG Strix B650E-I). The Aorus Master was not my pick for a 5090, I wanted a smaller card but got what was available/affordable.

https://preview.redd.it/mx70ayryvx1h1.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9956b8f5c9406a7862e944bd91fe4b0f3262a407

The issue I have with the current setup is that the gpu power cable is short and stiff so I can't close the side panel without bending the cable 90-degrees at the PSU side. First I wanted to test the current balance with the WV before I bend the cable to see if there is a change after. Also I was surprised that I had to rotate the cable 180-degrees to plug it into the WireView. I thought I wouldn't need to do that based on the diagrams I examined and assuming the connector orientation would be the same just rotated 90-degrees but it seems to also flip? 🤷🏻

Fully inserted

Before getting the WireView I got a 10K Wire Temp Sensor and connected it to the motherboard's T_Sensor port and wedged the sensor between the live and ground wires of the 12VHWPR:

https://preview.redd.it/y89ip7t2wx1h1.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=825db45a85685eeef7e36877d82cdd84615bedd4

I monitored it with HWiNFO64 and during a short gameplay session it reached 70 degrees Celsius with the AC cooling the room to the low 20s. That worried me and I refrained from stressing the card until I got the Wireview.

With the Wireview installed I put the short temp sensor where the previous one was, and inserted both the long sensor wire and my previous wire (connected to motherboard) sandwiched between the live and ground wires at the PSU side. I did this to compare the readings between the two sensors at the same spot, one reading from the motherboard and the other from the Wireview:

https://preview.redd.it/r5uu1cj7wx1h1.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=609d5e929355483f1eb59ab4cd7a06e4d73d0d30

I updated the WVP2 firmware, kept all settings default (except display brightness to minimum/off; I don't like RGB or LEDs and turn them off on everything), and after 10 minutes of running Furmark 4K in 32-degrees Celsius ambient room temp (GPU BIOS set to Silent mode), this is how it looked:

https://preview.redd.it/agsut8idwx1h1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=e53c557c8b21dc03c919ea27eba1b582f00c18d0

Some current imbalance but not enough to trigger an alarm, which was a relief. Good to see the "External 1" sensor match the reading of the T_Sensor from the motherboard that's in the same spot (I wondered if it was accurate before, seems like it). But what's surprising/confusing me is that "External 2" (the short wire in the cable GPU side) reads ~44 degrees after 10 minutes of Furmark with 32-degree ambient, whereas before I got the WV it reached 70 degrees while gaming in a much cooler room! Could it be due to the position of the cable, where it previously was next to the heatsink vents, and now it's higher up and further away from the hot air coming out of the GPU?

https://preview.redd.it/bsy87yubwx1h1.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0628aaaf5e13bdf68184b718c1e3b4065b5ba24d

I measured ~9mm from the WV to the outer edge of side panel. Assuming the mesh thickness to be 1-2mm, there should be at least 7mm space between the WV and the side panel when closed. I figured even if it touched the side panel it would have been okay since it's mesh, and maybe would have been better as the WV fan would exclusively pull cooler air from outside.

That's all I got for now. Sorry for the lengthy and image-heavy post. I hope it will be helpful to someone. And if you guys have comments or suggestions on my setup, please share them. Thanks.

Red led gpu when installing wireview pro 2

just wanted to share my experience with the new Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro 2 and see if anyone else has run into this issue.
I plugged it into my new setup (Asus ROG Strix PSU and a 5090 Astral GPU). Everything seemed to fit, but upon booting, the GPU immediately triggered a solid red LED light and refused to turn on.
After removing the WireView Pro 2 and going back to the native PSU cable, the system booted perfectly, and all 6 pins are showing perfectly balanced current distribution in the software.

EDIT: Thermal Grizzly reached out with a sincere apology and handled everything beautifully. Even though I am outside of Germany, they were incredibly cooperative and processed a full refund right away without requiring a return. Amazing customer service!

WireView Pro II Dashboard - SimHub

https://preview.redd.it/z9e3i3t6cr1h1.png?width=3838&format=png&auto=webp&s=2f7c23cfd98b02d5ff43556a8776ab39462a51c7

Hi, I made a dashboard that I can use in second screen using SimHub to watch my pins V/A/W , and would like to share it here so that who want to use it to monitor in second screen can benefit from it.

Link: https://drive.proton.me/urls/ME7S9PSX4M#uQM9Cb21xoIo

You need to install HWiNFO to read value from WireView app , and SimHub can populate the information in the dashboard.

Enjoy...

How To Improve Balance?

Okay this is a brand new cablemod cable and the wire view hooked to my GPU. These definitely seem a little too close for comfort, at least the two outside pins do, under 600w load of furnark they are always sitting at around 9.0-9.2 with the latest being around 7.8 so that's a difference of 1.4-1.5a 😭.

Sandy Putty Pro

Hi !

Had issues with my 4090 which randomly switched off.
I waited for my Ampinel to come so that I could install it and repaste CPU & GPU & change my water at the same time.

What a surprise, most of Putty Pro I used for VRAM was dry and crystallized, feeling like sand.
See, and mainly hear, the attached video.

Duronaut used on GPU was ok, but it's a pain to apply so next time I'll go the cryosheet way.
However I'll certainly never use Putty again.

Late to the party

Added: U12a g2 chromax on U12A and Thermal Grizzly Power View Pro 2 + Corsair Thermal Protect cable.

5090 astral

Delta 1.1amps 550w on 3 mins of furmark 1080p

Delta on 330w games .5amps on the last pin to third pin.

Added: 4 noctua fans 2 you cant see below gpu

2 fans on the top one in one out

And for luls cause my case C700m front bad.

2 noctua desk fans one pointed at gpu

one at cpu.

Took way too long to add these fans and power viewer i zip tied all the new fans cause im scrub and didnt have any of the proper mounting screws. I might have had to basicslly rebuild reconnect a few times..one due to one fan not working below gpu the other the mounting screw on the vertical mount fell down into my PSU meaning i had to disassemble everything the gpu and all the wires. Good night!

Wireview Pro 2 frozen graph and pixelated

Does anyone else have this issue where after a while the bars showing the wattage and per pin get frozen and show pixels all around them and the only way to get it working again is to open up the application? I even tried leaving the app running in the background. It still happens.

Certificate of Authority in Phasesheet PTM

I sent this to Thermal Grizzly support and currently waiting on a response from them so thought I would ask here l.

"I wanted to ask if the PTM Phasesheet product comes with a certificate of authority? I have bought 2 now in Egypt with the FRT sticker on it and it does not have the certificate. Other thermal grizzly products do have the certificate of authority. I also have bought Thermal Grizzly Phasesheet PTM from America and it did come with a certificate of authority. So I want to know if this discrepancy is due to the region or whether the Phasesheet PTM I bought in Egypt with the FRT sticker was a fake. "

Should I be worried?

Hello everyone! I set up my WireView Pro 2 yesterday, and on the first stress test (2160p) with FurMark, boom, I got current imbalance issues! Especially between pin 2 and pin 6.

Sometimes it’s as much as 5.6 amps on pin 6 vs. 9.5 amps on pin 2. However, the total amperage doesn’t go above 10 amps on individual pins, and the total current didn’t cross 50A.

A little bit about my RTX 5090: nothing too special. It’s an OEM GPU from LENOVO, a prebuilt PC I got last year on sale from Lenovo's early sale. To the best of my knowledge, it’s made by MSI, but correct me if I’m wrong.

This is what I tried on my end to troubleshoot:

  1. Reseated the cable on both ends
  2. Wiggled individual wires to make better contact

So far, nothing has worked. Under the stress test, pin 2 is pulling the highest current, and pin 6 is pulling the lowest!

How deep in trouble am I? I’m assuming I’ll just have to replace the cable at this point, but I’d appreciate hearing what the experts think!

Thank you, everyone, for reading my long rant!

Edit/Update: PSU is also OEM. "New Genuine Lenovo Legion Legion T7 34Irz8 90V6 90V7 1200W Power Supply 5P51D77391"

Corsair thermalprotect with Wireview Pro II

Hello, I’d like to know if using the Corsair cable together with this setup could cause any issues, or if it would simply provide double protection, with one device monitoring the cable temperature (65°C limit) and the other detecting power imbalance.

I7 6700k overclock results after delid

I managed to get the cores to 5ghz and uncore to 4.8ghz after delidding and replacing the TIM under the IHS with TG Conductonaut Extreme, max temps i’ve seen in heavy all core OCCT load and sustained is 56-57C.

I’m not running a direct die setup, this is with the IHS put back on after replacing the tim, i use TG Duronaut on top of the IHS and my cooler is an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro.

The current bottleneck i have is the micron a die memory that refuses to work at a higher than 2700mhz speed even on an Asus Apex motherboard
