Im potentially buying a used replacement top for my M44 1.9l from this imported donor Z3 M.
The seller is asking 650€.
A decent soft top fabric in germany is 600€ at least and this would save me some of the hassle required to install it.
what do yall think? good deal or no
just wanted to change my window regulator sliders and found an unusual white vapor barrier plastic.
I thought there is supposed to be a grey foam piece?? was someone already in here before me?
Has anyone got a workaround for the discontinued throttle body gasket on the M44?
original part number is 13541739809
I want to replace it for a potential air leak, but dont want to take it out before I can find a replacement, because I might damage it and make it even worse
the measuring in the pictures is in cm btw
Does anyone have an alternative to the oem M44 throttle body gasket (13541739809), since its no longer available and there are no replicas anywhere?
BMW doesnt even list the dimensions for you to find a solution -_-
Im redoing my fuel injectors and wanted to replace the 40mm fuel hose connecting to the fuel rail.
BMW lists the part 13 531 748 684, number (4) in the picture as no longer available and doesnt link a replacement.
Due to the high temperatures under the intake, its not just any other 8x13 fuel hose.
BMW calls it „FPM“ which is DIN ISO 1629 high temperature fluororubber material.
What part number should I replace it with?
I wanted to get new injectors for my M44, but the only place selling them is BMW themselves for almost 300€ per unit.
I contacted some shops about rebuilding my original injectors, but they said they couldnt do it.
They are missing the protocols and adapters for the machines to check them properly.
Guess you could try and rebuild them yourself, but how could you check if they even work correctly after all?
ultrasonic bath and new O-rings is what I could do myself. What liquid for the ultrasonic machine should you use for these old injectors though?
My car suffers from a shaky idle. Its not bad, but its bad enough for me to worry about it.
Fuel consumption is fine, but you need to drive a long time before the fuel smell in the oil goes away.
My Z3 is very prone to have the oil smelling like fuel. Its way more sensitive to this than any other BMW Ive driven.
so my thought is, its dirty old injectors causing an incorrect fuel mixture at times
just removed my door sill trim, because I noticed the plastic rubbing on the paint and causing rust already.
I scraped off all I could see and put some rust converter on it. Gonna order some touch up paint and protective film to prevent this in the future.
While the trim is off, I noticed access holes to the inside of the side skirts.
Is this the perfect time to spray it full of fluid film?
Or are these drain holes where water needs to flow freely? (talking about the larger holes seen the first picture)
completely lost interest in the game, just in time for exams :D
I‘ve noticed this sound during idle and I dont think thats a good sign :,(
engine:
M44
174.000km
bro straight up pit maneuvered the Mustang for no reason. Corvette fans saying he got squeezed while he had at least 2 car widths space at all time
-_-
Im about to take off the upper manifold to replace the cam sensor, just want to make sure
The model is not a 1:1, but the movement is a close as I could get it.
Before anyone asks why Im not using Autodesk: We are being forced to use catia lmao
Hi,
my car is driving great, but the idle was always very annoying.
Its easy to write it off as „yeah that just how M44s run“ and thats how I‘ve been living with this for the last 10k km.
But Im not talking about the sound, its the uncontrolled random shaking of the engine during idle (hot or cold) that you cant even really see on video :/
The car starts up nice and right away no matter what btw.
all points likely related to the issue:
(most parts are OEM, just a few OE quality):
- DISA revised, checked for function
- CCV new, nearby parts cleaned + hose
- all vacuum and air hoses, excluding the fuel return line (doing that next) and the small ones under the top manifold (no part number)
- Injectors cleaned, new intake gaskets
- ICV new
- new spark plugs
- new fuel filter
- new air filter
- cleaned air box (foam removed)
things I did that are likely not related:
- complete OEM cooling overhaul
(pump, thermostat, hoses, fan clutch, radiator, etc)
- new starter
- new belt + tensioner
- new engine mounts
- new transmission mounts
- last 3 oil changes all around ~5k km
- Friedrich Motorsport Gruppe A stainless steel exhaust (after catalytic converter)
- new exhaust bushings
Im sure Im missed some, but if you found anything missing which could be the problem, pls let me know. I really love this car and Im running out of ideas.
If you need any more info to point out an issue, pls ltm.
mileage: >174.000km
service record has a few gaps, but the car has been somewhat loved and maintained.
These mounting kits seem way overpriced for the simple looking little brackets they are.
Im sure BMW is using an off the shelf e36 clamping mechanism and it just needs a metal angle piece to hold it in the right place…
all that shouldnt cost more than ~100€
Has anyone done it already? Are there people willing to measure out their oem mounting kids so I can 3D Model and create a replication?
