A day at the range

Taking some Third Generation S&W’s to the range this morning. Decided to carry the 908.

Hammer fired, metal framed, leather holster. What more could you want?

Ok, it still has the Hogue grips on it. While not terrible, I have decided I like the factory grips better on my 3G’s. Surprised these are still on. Maybe today will convince me to keep them or change them back after the post range clean . . . .

JM Custom Kydex came through!

Finally got my 5906 holster from JM Custom Kydex. As with all my other holsters from them, I am very happy. Paired with the Blade tech tek mount system, love the plug and play for all my different guns.

Decided to go with the straight grip on my 4506.

$20 for straight grips on midway usa.

Got out to shoot my 1006. Took it apart after to clean it...is this normal or damaged somehow?

Not my first pistol, nor my first third gen, but this kind of damage seemed a tad abnormal for me. This gun was used, but looked almost new. So it had hardly been shot.

We put about 70 rounds of 180gr Magtech through it. It was lightly oiled before use. When I went to take it apart I met resistance and I had to really pull it hard to get the slid off, when I did a thin strip of material, basically thinner than paper fell onto my desk. Like a paint chip.

Is this just the bead blasting coming off? I have a 5906 and and it doesn't show this kind of wear, it was a police surplus though and is only 9mm, so perhaps it doesn't have the power to do this. I'm probably overthinking this because I paid so much for the gun. It can actually catch my nail if I run along it.

I mean this gun had been fired before, but now I'm wondering if it had been outside the factory...

Put it out to pasture?

Breech face of a 3913. Is it time to put the old girl on the wall? Not sure if it’s worth sending in to S&W for inspection.
