Upgrade goggles and better wind resistant tinywhoop?
Mobula8
Hello,
I initially thought tinywhoops would just be a stepping stone until I got good enough for a 5”. But I’m realizing now that tinywhoops are actually a lot of fun. I don’t really worry about crashing because they’re durable and inexpensive. I bring them to the park with my kids and fly around while they play. They’re just so easy to take anywhere and fly whenever I have a few minutes.
I also originally planned to move to O4, but analog turned out to be way better than I expected in real-life goggles. It honestly does the job more than well enough for me.
I’m also realizing that 5” drones require a lot more space, planning, cost, and overall commitment.
I bought a Meteor75 Pro and a pair of BETAFPV VR04 goggles as a cheap starter setup.
After about 20 packs on the Meteor75 Pro and having way too much fun, I think I might actually stick with analog tinywhoops for the long term.
I find the Meteor75 Pro a bit too big for indoor flying, so I just ordered an Air65.
So I have three questions:
The Meteor75 Pro handles wind better than I expected, but I live near the coast and it’s almost always windy here. Would a Meteor85 2S or a Mobula8 handle the wind significantly better, or is the improvement pretty minor? If not, what would you recommend that still keeps the “fly almost anywhere” convenience of tinywhoops while remaining relatively inexpensive and noticeably better in the wind?
My BETAFPV VR04 goggles aren’t bad in terms of comfort or image quality, but I have nothing else to compare them to. How much of an upgrade would something like the HDZero BoxPro or Skyzone Cobra X be?
Should I wait before buying more tinywhoops? Has anyone regretted investing in them because they eventually moved on to bigger drones, or do you still find yourself flying tinywhoops regularly even after getting larger quads?
Thanks!
