Something interesting we can see in the opening of the first season is the Kanji that represents the type of love that the losers heroines seek but fail to achieve.
In Japanese culture, Koi (恋) and Ai (愛) both translate to "love," but they represent completely different stages and depths of emotion.
What kind of love it is?
Koi is romantic, passionate, and exciting love. It’s the "falling in love" phase. You know, butterflies in your stomach, infatuation, and longing. But is often considered somewhat selfish or selfcentered. Why? because it focuses on your feelings, your desires, and wanting to possess the other person.
Now, what about Ai (愛)?
What kind of love it is?
Well, Ai is deep, stable, and unconditional love. Ai is mature and long lasting. Ai is the kind of love who give comfort, commitment, and selflessness. It applies to longterm partners, but also to family, friends, or even humanity. It is generous and giving. It focuses on the well being and happiness of the other person, even if it requires sacrifice. Even if you know that being that person's partner is going to cause you bad times
An interesting fact about names in Kanji is that the same spoken name (its sound) can be written in dozens of different ways using different kanji. The choice of which one to use depends entirely on what the author (or the parents, in real life) wants to convey.
So, this means that when Amamori chose the kanji for his characters, he looked for kanji that reflected their characteristics. There's a girl whose name contains this kanji, the heroine who blossomed at sunset, Tiara (天愛星)
You see, if we translate these Kanjis we will realize that they say Celestial Love Star or Star of Love in the Firmament. A very curious name, and one that personally reminds me of the well-known Japanese folk romance of Orihime and Hikoboshi. Orihime (known in the West as Vega) is a star that symbolizes love. I encourage you to look up what it's about and why it fits so well with Tiara and Nukumizu's story.
Oh, one last interesting thing, the epilogue of Volume 8 would translate from Japanese as something like "Stairs to Maturity/adulthood"
and how much effort will it take for each one?
An interesting aspect of Japanese culture is the superstition surrounding certain numbers. In this case, we'll focus on two numbers that symbolize bad luck in Japan: 4 and 9.
The number 4 and Death: One way to say the number four in Japanese is shi. This sounds exactly like the Japanese word for death (死).
The number 9 and Suffering: One way to say the number nine in Japanese is ku. This sounds exactly like the Japanese word for suffering or pain (苦).
Now, putting aside the bad luck aspect, what do they have in common? One word: infidelity.
In the interview conducted with Amamori after the release of Volume 8, he revealed something interesting: Nukumizu is cheating with Tiara to the girls in the Literature Club. These encounters between the two, which Nukumizu deliberately conceals from the Literature Club girls, began in Volume 4. First, Nukumizu and Tiara were seen eating crepes when Komari discovered them, the almost kiss at karaoke stopped by Lemon, as was the matching scarf Tiara gave him (a detail Nukumizu unconsciously and surprisingly hid from Yanami, as if it were the right thing to do). Followed by Yanami's phrase to Nukumizu: "Don't get ahead of yourself".
It is not the only infidelity that was born, since in this volume Koto's infidelity with Shikiya was also born.
Now, knowing the synopsis of volume 9 and knowing that it will address the issue of infidelity even more directly, that this is Yanami's last chance to try something with Nukumizu before Lemon gets involved and takes her out of the game, that Nukumizu will possibly be dragged into it by Yanami in a desperate attempt to get something with him, and that Nukumizu is increasingly tired of being dragged into other people's pointless problems, how do you think it will all end?

Hey, so I remember seeing a post about how if Nukumizu never met Yanami at the café that day, he would've met another girl who was supposed to be his soulmate.
Can someone please let me know if there's any info about that, because every time I search there's nothing.
In the interview he gave upon the release of volume 8, these were his words regarding Nukumizu and Basori's relationship. Nukumizu is essentially being "cheating" (Uwaki is the word he used) to the literature club with Basori, and this is causing them to grow closer and closer due to the time they spend together in secret.
Its so easy to miss this cause it happens quickly and his tone and face doesn't say "I have no future or hope for good times in it" when it happens. Plus theirs was a lot of other losing heroine plot going on so I kinda just didn't pay attention to it.
But thinking "seeing this is the peak of my life I can look back on during the rest of it when I end up sad and alone" when hes just a high schooler is pretty extreme even for an avoidant introvert. How many high schoolers have the capacity/maturity to think that far ahead in the first place, and here he is quitely accapting he can have no other fate than loneliness after school, forever, with a smile on his face. Its like I missed the part where he went through anger denial and bargaining over his hopes for the future and found him after he already reached acceptance.
If the anime gets a season 2 will it get a chance to tell us more about his past or is that too far in the future of the light novels?
