Line 4 subway extension poll results

The future eastern terminus for Line 4 is something that is discussed at length in transit spaces. From the options presented by Metrolinx, the major conscious puts 2A (Sheppard & McCowan) or 2B (Scarborough Centre) as the most popular routes.

The first poll took place on r/Metrolinx and includes 864 votes
The second poll took place on r/Scarborough and includes 346 votes

Transportation

I'm starting at Guelph in September this year and I'm commuting for Brampton, I was just wondering if Guelph helps with transportation at all, like with bus or train fair ?

Appreciation Post for TTC a worker

Every morning, thousands of people flow through Queen Station like a river. Some are rushing to work. Some are carrying the weight of deadlines, responsibilities, and worries. Most have their headphones in, their eyes fixed ahead, already lost in the demands of the day before it has fully begun.

Yet amid that familiar morning rush, there is one TTC employee who quietly changes the atmosphere.

I often see him at the Eaton Centre entrance of Queen Station, near the Swarovski store. I do not know his name, and I am not sure which days he works there. What I do know is that whenever I encounter him, he is doing something remarkably simple.

He smiles.

And then he says, “Good morning.”

Not casually. Not occasionally. Not only to those who make eye contact. He says it to everyone.

The first time I saw him, I was almost confused. Was he really greeting every single person passing by? In a subway station? During the morning rush?

It felt unusual because it has become so rare.

But then I saw him again. And again. Most recently, this morning at around 9:30 a.m., standing in the same spot at Queen Station, greeting passengers with the same warmth, the same enthusiasm, and the same genuine smile.

What struck me was not simply that he was being polite. It was that he seemed to truly enjoy brightening someone else's day.

Cities can sometimes feel anonymous. We pass thousands of strangers without ever acknowledging one another. Public transit, especially during rush hour, can feel like a place where everyone is simply trying to get from one point to another as efficiently as possible.

Yet this employee reminds us that there is still room for humanity in those spaces.

A simple “Good morning” costs nothing. It takes only a second. Yet somehow it can make a crowded station feel a little less cold and a difficult morning feel a little lighter.

Many people probably walk past him without realizing the effect he has. Others may smile back and continue on with their day. But I suspect there are countless commuters like me whose mornings have been improved, however briefly, by that small act of kindness.

We often celebrate grand achievements and extraordinary accomplishments. But cities are also held together by quieter things: courtesy, generosity, professionalism, and the people who choose to bring a little warmth into the routines of strangers.

I do not know this employee's name. I only know that he represents the very best of public service. He shows up, day after day, and treats every passenger as though they matter.

In a world where people are quick to complain when things go wrong, I felt it was important to pause and recognize someone who is making things better.

So if this message finds its way to him, I simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for the smile. Thank you for the greeting. Thank you for reminding all of us that even in the busiest corners of a city, kindness still has a place.

How many of the current transit projects being built by Metrolinx will be completed with Ford still in office?

Interested to hear opinions. In my opinion it hinges on two factors

  1. Whether you think Ford will win another election in 2030

  2. If you think the current projects will be delayed (more than already)

- Line 2 Scarborough extension should be done around 2030

- Eglinton West LRT extension should be around 2031

- Ontario Line is "early 2030s"

- Line 1 extension - who knows... maybe 2035?

24/7 Lakeshore West GO Train Railcam & Live Transit Tracker

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share a new resource for local railfanning and transit watching. I have launched a continuous 24/7 live feed of the Lakeshore West tracks running through the Swansea Corridor.

The feed features a custom live tracking board running on the official Metrolinx API, so you can see active train departures, trip statuses, and system delays right alongside the video before the trains enter the frame.

Drop by anytime to relax, watch the meets, or help log train timestamps in the chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HongS1sx4pY

Big thanks to the mod team for letting me share this with the community!

Union station towards Finch

First time in Toronto wondering if there’s an easier way to get on the subway towards finch than walking all the way to Front & Bay. Edit: this would be from Roger’s Centre / CN tower etc.

Average Speed of Underground Section (excluding time lost due to the hold order): 29.43km/h: 10.3km/(21/60)

Overall, I was much happier with this experience than yesterday’s on Line 6 Finch. I’ve been on Eglinton almost every month since it opened to commute to school between Mount Dennis and Cedarvale, and I can say that it has definitely improved in terms of speed and headways. Even though the surface section was significantly slower, it still was typically a faster experience than Line 6.

Let me know your thoughts! I might give this experiment a go on the ROW streetcars.
