Macroplastics in BLIZZARD

Def enjoyed my blizzard much less after finding red, almost invisible macro-plastic mixed in with the Oreos.

Streetcars are Picking up the Slack

The streetcar network, despite facing the harshest criticisms and existential crises, has had the highest ridership growth out of the entire TTC network, at 6% vs 2024

The WELRT (which is just a fancy name for a 509 harbourfront east extension) has been given 3 billion in funding! The network is GROWING, along with the ridership!

This is good news, but we have a looooong way before streetcars are considered reliable and rapid. The growth is likely centred on downtown core population growth rather than people willingly choosing to take the streetcar.

Ridership patterns in downtown, where streetcars are king, will drastically change with the opening of the Ontario Line. We will see sharp decreases on east-west routes in the core, and the network MUST be ready to compete where the subway cannot

ENG4U situation is unacceptable

The overwhelming usage of plagiarism via AI in this course, mixed with largely subjective grading because English teachers can be so different, makes an unacceptable course and curriculum that needs to change.

There is no uniform approach to teach this course, teachers can do things SO differently, and one class can end up knowing more than the other, even under the same roof! That is an extremely unfair environment for any student to be in.

Guidance does NOT let you choose your teachers (for good reason, horrible teachers would have no students, good teachers would be overwhelmed). This means you are stuck in an unlucky gamble with this course, which happens to be the most important one, as ALL university programs require it.

What’s the point of INSURANCE?

Insurance is a business. You pay no matter what, but when they have to pay you, it’s sometimes less than what you contributed. I only hear bad stories about insurance. Honestly, this seems like a place for people with bad self control to keep their rainy day fund at a large ripoff, not an actual “insurance”.

This just comes off as cringe tbh

When marketing tries to be overly relatable especially to the youth and social media trends, also using the world genuinely (how ironic), it really just comes off as immature and cringe especially to me as a younger person

What Streetcar Route would you revive?

The TTC has had its glory days when streetcars ruled the roads. Unfortunately, following global trends, many routes were "cut back"... and eventually abandoned.

Guess what? Trains are trendy again. The frictionless steel wheels, greater capacity, and lower operating costs are things planners value and take into account.

Go for it, tell everyone what you want to see added to the 500 series.

NO, NO, NO, ONTARIO!!

1996 wasn't long ago. Many of you were born before then, including the Barrie line, which initiated service to Barrie in 1990 (before shutting down for 14 years and coming back in 2007). By the time it came back, the CN line to Orillia, like many other Ontario railways, was completely abandoned and ripped out.

Adding salt to the wound grave, the corridor no longer exists in parts of Barrie because it was used to build MEGA MANSIONS on the Simcoe waterfront. This is infuriating. CN sold the future of an entire city, and nobody stopped them- who could've though, the government privatized CN in 1995, literally a year after, they went on a railway abandonment spree. We should never privatize transportation, when we do, we get abandoned railways... and the 407.

Barrie line service to Orillia will be near impossible to bring back, due parts of it running near Lake Simcoe's waterfront, which turned out to be extremely valuable land that now houses millionaire mansions.

Nevertheless, this is how the Barrie line could've looked like.

507 Lakeview Extension

Fun Fact: >!The TTC has operated a single-track radial streetcar to Port Credit before. (1927-1935)!<

Neighbouring Mississauga is gearing up its Lakeview for major development, comparable to Humber Bay-Park Lawn.

The city has identified in the Lakeshore Transportation Master Plan a 507 extension as the best option to serve the Lakeshore corridor up to Port Credit, however, the study was done before the Lakeview Village development broke through. The arrival of this high-density waterfront community shifts the area's ridership projections, and I think warrants a reassessment of the corridor.

Since Mississauga isn't up to date, sticking to a linear route is probably not the best option. The city should pivot to a branched network. By introducing a '507 Lakeview Village' branch- akin to how the TTC splits the 504 to serve the Distillery District- we can better deliver transit exactly where the new density demands it.

What do I do with this?

My local Starbucks was giving these away and I grabbed one without looking at what it was.

What drinks even use “blossoming cherry powder”?
