Pigeon stuck in neighbors balcony net, what to do?

i called the Feuerwehr they said they wont come for a pigeon, i called an animal help Verein they told me to post in Taubennotfallmeldung i posted in all the ones i could find, (theyre private so i mwntioned it in the application), i called Wildvogelstation des Nabu & i could only leave a voicemail so i did. I talked to the reception in my building (its a private student dorm) and they said they will send the tenant an email. I knocked and ranged the doorbell but no one answered its possible no one is home. i dont know what the neighbour can do when the glass walls are so high and im afraid poking at the net with a broom could make things worse. This is in 13355 but this area can only be entered by those with keys

Edit: Someone in one of the Pigeon groups called the Feuerwehr and told me they are on their way. The pigeon is not moving anymore so i dont know what will come of it now. Thank you to everyone who tried to help. Someone told me these nets are a Tierschutz violation so i will try talking to my neighbor to get them taken down and if that doesnt work I will report it to the police

EDIT2: GUYS FHE PIGEON HAS BEEN RESCUED!!!! ITS ALIVE AND FREE

Vattenfall cancelled contract after 6 months, can I restore?

Vattenfall canceled my electricity contract after half a year and gave me multiple conflicting reasons (wrong meter number, then network operator rejected it, then someone else was supposedly registered on it). I don’t want to pay Grundversorgung for 6 months…

I contacted Stromnetz Berlin directly and they confirmed I’ve been correctly registered since 21.01.2026 and everything is fine on their side. Vattenfall’s solution is for me to start a new contract, but that would force me to pay expensive basic supply rates for months.

I can’t get any written confirmation from any counterpart customer support as proof..

Has anyone dealt with something similar or knows what I can do?

Neue Züge auf der U5

OMG!

Goerli’s new fence at night

Local residents need to walk around the entire park at night to get home, but at least now drug dealers and users are outside the gates and on our doorsteps rather than in the park. Definitely worth taking millions from social services to pay for this.

Four pedestrian bridges east of Görlitzer Park to be closed - DeutscheBahn&CDU

The four (former) railway bridges that lead out of/into Görlitzer Park’s most eastern entrance from Alt-Treptow, are slated to be closed on 30.06.2026.

The decision comes as Deutsche Bahn, which owns the bridges, cites unsafe conditions and high rehabilitation costs. DB has offered to give the ownership of the bridges to the CDU, which has so far refused the offer.

If you’re affected by this indispensable pathway and mobility corridor being closed, you can write to Stefan Evers of the CDU. He’s the senate minister for finance, and he’d love to hear from you about this. You can email him on his website (https://stefan-evers.de/) or call him - +49 (0) 151 - 41 61 27 53.

Otherwise, there is a local initiative called www.zusammenbruecken.de working to spread awareness and trying to convince the government to take ownership of the bridges.

LPT: 24h AB tickets for 8,90 €* instead of 11,20€

If you don't have a DeutschlandTicket but you have a BahnCard 25 or 50 (excl. Youth BahnCard) you can buy reduced fare tickets from Deutsche Bahn / VBB for Berlin AB. They are called "Regionaltarif bis 25 km". Note: BC25/50 does not allow you to buy reduced (ermäßigte) BVG tickets!

All you need to do is to go to Deutsche Bahn (website / app / ticket machine) and purchase a ticket from your starting destination to any village just outside of Berlin C involving Regional Express (RE). Examples: Dabendorf, Nassenheide, Trebbin, Bestensee, Kremmen. I recommend you check the Regional transport map from VBB. Just make sure that it's not too far away from Berlin AB and DB shows the correct 25 km rate.

Also: these tickets are - except for AB, where you can go around wherever - for direct routes only. So if you want to go into C you have to choose a station outside of C where your actual destination is en-route. So, if you for example want to go to Königs Wusterhausen (which is in C) you have to select Bestensee as destination.

Ebola Infected American Treated at Charité

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ceqp11gn1l8o

EDIT:

Apologies , I initially posted the wrong link.

Please see:

https://www.zeit.de/gesundheit/2026-05/ebola-virus-patient-charite-berlin-eingetroffen

(Thank you, u/DocSternau)

It was not my intention to spread panic. I do not believe this will be the next pandemic.

I do think there is risk of accidental spread. And so I think it is worth discussing on what basis Germany takes such risks. R0 is 1.5-2. The patient's asymptomatic but exposed family was also flown to Germany and is under "mandatory isolation". I don't know how or if this is actually enforced.

There are no therapeutics for this strain, so medical treatment is basically relegated to dumping fluids into the patient and regulating blood pressure. Fatality rate is 50%. The US is 5 hours further direct flight time than Germany.

The US has withdrawn from the WHO, killed USAID, threatened to pull US troops, has pulled support from Ukraine, and has aggressively antagonized EU allies. I question why Germany would take any risk at all considering the hostile turn.

If your answer is "empathy", I applaud that. But I also ask why this empathy is selectively extended to this person. There are reportedly >500 others in the DRC that have been infected.
