Best take out Chinese food in Vaughan

Specifically around Woodbridge or concord.

I keep getting disappointed every time I order from a Chinese place. Normally get from Ann’s Congee in Thornhill, but that’s a bit far.

Emergency Vet hospital

Hi guys,

Is there any emergency 24/7 vet hospitals that you guys would recommend? I’m right off the 400 and Major Mack. I know there is one in King City but I just want to hear some opinions. I have a senior cat and incase of anything and I can’t go to the vet due to off hours, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks :)

Anything going around in Richmond Hill? After a visit to a specialist last week, I've come down with a horrible stomach bug. Still going, 7 days later. Anyone else?

As we head into another week, here’s a gentle reminder that accepting help is not a sign of weakness. It’s one of the things that makes us human

Many of us find it much easier to help than to be helped.

We’ll happily drive a friend to an appointment, bring someone a meal, lend an ear, or drop everything for a loved one who needs us. It feels natural to give. But when the roles are reversed, something changes.

We tell ourselves:
“I don’t want to bother anyone.”
“They have enough on their plate.”
“I’ll figure it out myself.”
“I don’t want to owe anyone.”

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that needing help meant we had failed. It doesn’t. The truth is, when we allow someone to help us, we’re giving them a gift too.

Helping another person gives us a sense of purpose. It reminds us that we matter, that we can make a difference, that our presence has value. Think about how good it feels when you’ve been able to comfort a friend, support a neighbour, or simply make someone’s difficult day a little easier.

Why would we want to deny someone else the opportunity to experience that same feeling? Community was never meant to be one-sided.

Sometimes we’re the ones offering support. Other times, we’re the ones who need it. Neither role makes us any less valuable. In fact, allowing others to help us strengthens the bonds that hold communities together.

So if someone offers you a hand this week, consider accepting it with gratitude instead of guilt. You don’t have to earn kindness, and you don’t have to repay every act of generosity. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is allowing them the opportunity to make a difference in your life.

Wishing everyone a week filled with compassion, humility, and the reminder that we’re not meant to carry life’s burdens alone. Strong communities are built not just by people who are willing to help, but also by people who are willing to accept help. ❤️

Is there any decent coffee in/near Woodbridge (other than Dark Horse)?

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but are there any so-called “3rd wave” coffee shops in and around Woodbridge/Vaughan that I may have missed. Or at least somewhere where you can get a good flat white or cortado or just an Americano? I know there must be quite a few Italian espresso places but I’m looking for the above.

Dark Horse is pretty good imo. Balzac’s seems pretty mediocre to me. Starbucks/Second Cup etc. are terrible. Any others?

Will to drive for 20 or 30 minutes for some decent coffee (has to be in Vaughan though as it’s where my family lives and they’re not going to come into Toronto).

Would appreciate any help!

Gutting/renovating a home

We’re thinking about buying a home and gutting the inside. I’ve heard so many horror stories about contractors taking money and leaving the job unfinished or just being incredibly unreliable. Has anyone actually had a positive experience gutting a home in Vaughan?

BMW mechanic vaughn,bramton,mississauga. Ontario Area

I have a 2020 230i and need to get brake pads and a brake fluid change. Do you guys know any reliable mechanics nearby that do BMW. I tried calling RMP Motors Inc. but they said they don't have appt till in 2 weeks and also want 50% in e-transfer to book an appointment. Doesn't make sense to pay 50% even before doing any work on the car. $500 just to book an appointment doesn't make sense.

This just happened at Vaughan mills. Anyone who caught it on dashcam can you please send me the video.

Leaving Vaughan mills parking lot someone cut me off really bad and the system for the Lincoln shut it self off (I believe its a collision security system). When I went outside with my phone to record and see if there was any damage this guy came out of his car and tried to hit me. I spoke to 3 officers and one of them at Tim Horton's told me that car has been reported in the past for road rage incidents and the car is registered under a females name.

Has anyone else noticed the number of dead seagulls along Creditstone lately?

I’ve driven down Creditstone a few times this week and there seem to be way a lot of dead seagulls. I saw several between Hwy 7 and Langstaff, and it seemed odd enough that I started wondering if something was going on.

Anyone have experience with Young Drivers or All Star Driving?

Hey all! My wife has a G1 and is finally looking to start driving. She’s never driven before with her G1 so looking to start from scratch.

I see Young Drivers with great reviews through reddit, although they are much more expensive at $2500 after taxes for their package (20 hours zoom class, 10 hours online course, 10 hours driving).

I found all star driving that’s roughly $1000 after tax (20 hours class, 10 hours of online, and 15 hours of driving). Is the quality that different that it’s worth paying over 2x for Young Drivers?

The other concern is how quickly one can go through this program. I was reading reviews how there can be few weeks between each driving lesson, which is way too slow. Something that complicates the timeline is that my wife is 7 weeks pregnant, and due around third week of February. So we’d want the G2 test to be somewhere around this fall if that’s still feasible.

Happy to hear your thoughts on driving schools in the Woodbridge area!

Farm Boy vs. Fortinos/Longo’s vs. Nature’s Emporium: Worth the Premium?

I try to be fairly frugal overall, but when it comes to groceries I’m willing to spend a bit more on higher-quality foods and ingredients.

I always assumed Farm Boy was a good spot for healthier options. Their produce is usually excellent, but beyond that, I find a lot of their selection is similar to what you’d find at other major grocery stores, including plenty of highly processed foods.

I really like shopping at Nature’s Emporium and often stop in for a few items when I'm in a bind, but I’m not sure doing all of my grocery shopping there would be realistic from a cost perspective.

For those who shop at Farm Boy, how do you think it compares to places like Fortinos or Longo’s in terms of quality and value? And for anyone who does most or all of their shopping at Nature’s Emporium, how much more do you find you’re spending each week compared to a traditional grocery store?
