International uproar today after Alleged Trump's call to influence FIFA decision on red-card player

International football bodies expressed uproar and disagreement, Monday, after it was reported that... Donald Trump did in fact call FIFA Boss Gianni Infantino over Balogun's red card in the match vs Bosnia and automatic suspension for today's Team USA match vs Belgium. As a result, FIFA cancelled the suspension.🤷‍♂️

This was firstreported by Axios, Sunday night.
Story

"Trump spoke with Infantino because he wanted to understand why Balogun got the red card and why the automatic one-match suspension was imposed. FIFA then lifted/suspended the ban, which is highly unusual because red cards normally carry an automatic next-match suspension."

Europe's football governing body UEFA as well as several countries' federations have expressed disagreement at this "outrageous" intervention of politics in sports.

Besides the political and sports scandal, if Balogun plays and USMNT wins, this has potential to cloud and ruin USMNT performance...

Trump Surprised Iranians Are Crying At Khamenei's Funeral Amid Massive Turnout.

" I thought people hated him "

President Trump this weekend mused in an interview with Axios that so many people and officials are currently gathered for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral in Tehran that they could all be taken out in one fell swoop.

"They are all there. One shot and we can take them all out, but we are not going to do that because then we would have nobody to negotiate with," Trump said.

Footage and images of massive crowds of people packing out central Tehran squares and roads have flooded social media over the weekend. External critics and enemies of Iran have been claiming that millions of people were 'forced' by Iran's security services to attend the funeral.

Trump again emphasized that the Iranians "are begging to make a deal" but said both sides decided to take a week off from the conflict as well as talks to give time for Khamenei's funeral events to end. There are major public events scheduled to go for up to a week.

Amid the scenes of public mourning, and also with some Iranian officials loudly calling for 'revenge' - Trump made this interesting comment to Axios:

He added that he was surprised to see some Iranians crying at the funeral, saying he thought people hated Khamenei. "Maybe it's fake tears," Trump mused.

President Trump told Axios U.S.-Iran negotiations are paused until the funeral ceremonies for the late Iranian Supreme Leader conclude on July 9, saying both sides agreed to “take a week off” and that “neither side will shoot at the other” during that time.

"A uranium mine about 10 miles south of the Grand Canyon is now asking the state to increase the levels of arsenic that can legally be found in the groundwater they use."

"Advocates said mining in this area and increasing arsenic levels is too risky with the mine’s proximity to a large aquifer. Mine representatives said this is all routine and advocates are fearmongering:"

The National Mall was abruptly evacuated during the Fourth of July celebrations due to severe storms

Just as the "Freedom 250" celebrations were hitting their stride last night, severe thunderstorms forced a massive, sudden evacuation of the National Mall.

Around 7:00 PM, the U.S. Park Police, Secret Service, and FEMA sent out emergency alerts ordering thousands of attendees to clear out immediately due to incoming lightning and high winds. People had to pack into federal buildings, museums, and designated shelter tents.

Ironically, just minutes after the evacuation order went out, the scheduled military flyover (led by the newly renovated Air Force One) still flew right over a completely emptying Mall. Between the record-tying 110+ degree heat canceling the parade earlier in the day and the storms hitting right before the fireworks/speeches, it turned out to be a pretty chaotic 250th birthday for the U.S.

Anyone here happen to be in D.C. last night? How crazy was the crowd rush to the museums?

Why can’t Gen Z get work? Because the over-50s want the same jobs

The labor market is facing a "Boomer bottleneck". Older professionals are staying in the workforce longer out of financial necessity, or actively applying for entry and mid-level roles to achieve better work-life balance.

This creates intense competition for Gen Z, who are finding themselves squeezed out of entry-level jobs by highly experienced candidates.

Rising Cost of Living: With inflated housing costs and insufficient retirement funds, over-50s are delaying retirement. This reduces the natural turnover of senior and mid-level roles that would typically open up.

Employers Preferring Experience: Faced with economic uncertainty, companies are mitigating risk by hiring older, proven talent. Many employers now look for the resilience, life experience, and soft skills of older workers for entry-level tasks.

The "Degree Inflation" Reality: With record numbers of university graduates entering the market, a degree no longer guarantees a head start, and a large pool of experienced workers is actively competing for the same entry-level compensation.

The traditional career ladder is shifting. Many Gen Z professionals are adapting by pivoting to specific, niche skill sets and leveraging AI to differentiate themselves in this highly competitive landscape.

Students take to the streets against austerity, fuel hikes, and the militarization of politics

Thousands of students have mobilized once again in Jakarta against the government of Prabowo Subianto, marking another day in a week-long wave of protests questioning the Executive's economic priorities.

The demonstrations began last Friday and spread throughout the center of the Indonesian capital under the banner "Towards a Bankrupt Indonesia." The youth are denouncing the rising cost of living, subsidy cuts, and a spending policy that, they argue, deepens the social crisis while military influence in civilian affairs continues to grow.

The primary catalyst was the government's decision to increase the price of certain non-subsidized fuels by up to 32%. The measure broke with the subsidy scheme that had kept rates frozen despite the increase in international oil prices.

Protests intensified following the implementation of the hike on Monday the 15th, triggering blockades at various points in Jakarta and clashes with security forces. The police response included operations to disperse the protesters.

Donning their university jackets and carrying placards, thousands of students shouted "No to the fuel price hike" and labeled the presidential cabinet the "Wall of Shame." The mobilizations reflect a growing unrest regarding the government's economic policies and the perception that the costs of the crisis are being borne by the popular majority.

The student protest brings the conflict between the Indonesian government's austerity measures and a youth movement demanding greater social investment and limits on the advancement of military forces into the country's political life back to the center stage.
