How do you determine what games to play?

Do you research to find games that are popular / upcoming in your niche? For example, looking at metrics on Steam, seeing what other streamers are playing, checking news and press release sites, watching or attending showcases.

I’m at an impasse…

So I did my research, I looked for a game whithin my bounds and ended up with abiotic factor that had 200 views across 10-15 channels. Hoping it would pick up traction. But 5-10 streams in I’ve landed nobody. I want to continue the game but I feel like it’s not worth it anymore. I’ve changed a lot since I started to help get more viewers but nothing is working… what do I do. I’m most likely a going to continue with this game. I’m waiting for a proper overlay . And I think I’m going to change my logo and background as I used ai and know that’s most likely what’s hurting me. I just don’t know how to get discovered after posting to tik tok and YouTube for the last month. Any advice I mean any is welcome and appreciated.

@xeeennnnooo

Edit- I know this stream is on the shorter end but I had some important things to take care of and the next hour or 2 was going to be me moving bases which isn’t exactly the best footage for someone to watch or record

People who did it, how did you get out of plateau ?

Had some good growth at the start for 3-4 months but then been plateau-ing at around 18 average for 7 months now. Are there people who went through the same and escaped plateau jail, how did you do it ?

I make my streams chat and community focused, I've been told by my regulars that they love my enthusiasm of the games I play, the lore explanations and the frequent pop culture references. I'm not sure what I could be doing to take it to the next level, I do post clips of funny moments on YouTube and TikTok, most of them have been clipped by the community. Not sure what else I could do to bring it to the next level.

Me and My Streaming Duo Needs HELP

My friend and I have just started streaming a couple of months ago, and lately we've been a bit too nice to our small community... We need help with how to start being strict, and we need advice on how to tell them to stop or to actually start banning people. We've been hesitant to ban them since it could sometimes feel like we were being a bit too insensitive.

So Far...

  1. I've been getting sales pitches from many artists (and I recently have been saying that I'm not looking for an artist right now), and proceeds to say that they could do some down payment or some monthly payment. (With what money..?) And I've been too nice to not look at their artwork. It feels pressuring at times, since they also ALWAYS send a Discord friend request for some reason. But I also wanna be nice about it since they're artists trying to get money. I think one artist that my friend and I saw that sales pitched ME was an AI artist, which in my book does not count as an artist.
  2. My friend has recently gotten this one guy whom we do chat to as we stream, but they usually talk about subjects that aren't really related to the stream, but it kind of gets to her, since they started having some.. PTSD from audio in a game........ Which they said was a horror game that they won't tell us... This guy would just nonstop say that they're scared and shivering due to the audio, and if they hear it again, then they would leave. My friend understood and told them that they're allowed to leave if it's that severe, but the chatter said "no" and then continued to talk about how they were scared about the audio.
  3. We've gotten SOME chatters that maybe are annoying?... In the past couple of streams, we've gotten some people that would persistently ask us to do stuff that wasn't planned yet we've been kind of doing it even if we don't want to. Mainly because we don't wanna hurt the viewer's feelings...
  4. My friend has gotten some backseating from a viewer and has really pissed her off yet she still did it.. Since she doesn't wanna come off as rude..
  5. My friend is a bit self-conscious about her english cuz of a small speaking hiccup. And the viewer made a joke about it, thinking it was alright to make a joke saying something like "she didn't pass English" (she did great in English class, better than me lol). Which kind of made my friend feel iffy or like "eh" about herself. Yet we didn't take any action against it.
  6. Viewers have asked to play games with us, which we're well aware Twitch chat will ask that, but it's hard for us to say "no" because we feel like it may hurt them..

We don't know how to become strict, really. But we need advice from others telling us how we could not come off as insensitive and actually start moderating our channels before it grows toxic. OR before my friend loses her mind.

Hey y'all, don't forget to disable Twitchs' new AI setting.

Twitch rolled out a shadow update that they didn't want you to know. Remember to disable it, as they have you opted in as a base. Go to your settings -> Security and Privacy -> and scroll all the way down and towards the end of the list, it'll be there.

Most Trustworthy Stream bot for Discord?

I recently just started streaming and have my own discord and was wondering which stream bot would be the most trustworthy as a bot itself and as a company for my discord? Thanks in advance 😁

13 days of streaming consistently and i feel behind.

i've been streaming on twitch, kick, and you tube for the past 13 days consecutively, i did start late on twitch, but today marks stream 13 where i've consecutively streamed on all 3 , below i've put together a graph to show my growth on all 3 channels. my youtube already had 1,386 from longform/short content. i've been networking but that seems extremely artificial and none of my traffic has come organically. every unique viewer, chatter, etc. has been from a discord i've been networking in. i have yet to experience an organic viewer come naturally to my channel, (except for youtube sometimes). i stream for 2-3 hours a day. monday and tuesday i stream 4pm - 6 pm (sometimes 7pm) and then because of my work schedule i stream wednesday - saturday i stream 11pm - 1am while sunday i stream 10pm - 12 am. over the past 13 days, 41.9% of my content has been star citizen, 24.9% is lethal company, 22.4% is rainbow 6, 6.2% is deep rock galactic while the rest is "other".

i just feel extremely behind and that i should be growing more than i have. what would you recommend i do to improve.

Stagnant at below 100 followers

hi fellow internet dwellers,

I've been at 80 followers for.... two months, maybe more? I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong because the numbers aren't changing at all, one way or another. Is it something we just have to push through?

I'm going into my second year as a "streamer" and idk, it still feels like I'm streaming every night to the void! I'm very grateful for the interactions I've had but I'm not seeing any of the progress other people on the sub do. Advice on stagnation extremely welcome!

7 months of streaming

It’s absolutely wild to see where I have come from. My first stream on January 16th 2026 had an avg of 1.6 (basically just my husband watching) lol.

Fast forward to August 16th and we had an all time high for avg viewers on a non-event stream! We were just playing some Marvel Rivals! It was a really great stream and I am so happy with the community I have built these past couple of months!

Don’t give up everyone! Keep cooking!

Play what YOU like

Hi everyone:

I’m a newish streamer, 5 months in this month.

I wanted to share something that may seem obvious, but I’m sure other streamers have fallen into as well.

I started my channel as a cozy streamer only playing Fields of Mistria. Quickly decided I wanted to play some other games, added in Resident Evil and saw my channel really start to grow.

I started fixating a little bit on what games I would play once I was done with Resident Evil games that would keep an audience.

I found that Hollow Knight while an Indie game was very popular. So I decided to start playing that on my channel not knowing anything about it. Went in completely blind, which I do not recommend if you are not familiar with the Metroidvania genre. Over the course of playing, I found myself getting more and more frustrated, unhappy on stream, taking days off. I came to the decision that I need to stop playing Hollow Knight because it just wasn’t for me, but I really struggled because I saw that people liked watching me play and it brought in more new viewers.

I put it to a poll on social media and found that everyone was like play what you love, if you’re not having fun, the viewers aren’t having fun.
I was repeatedly told if viewers really like me, they will stick around regardless of what I’m playing.

All this to say, play what you like, what brings you joy or makes you happy and the viewers will have a great time too!

Just starting and having a blast!

I’m a full time employee working 40-50 hours a week, a father, and a husband. I’ve only streamed a total of ten times since May (learning the ropes, technical/hardware issues, responsibilities etc) but this past weekend I finally got up and running with zero issues and clocked in these two streams. I’m so happy to see these numbers despite not having a schedule secured and totally winging it! Patience is a virtue, and I hope to slowly build and grow!

I want my #Twitch stream to have viewers again!

Seven years ago my stream was thriving. Hundreds of people would show up regularly, sometimes a few thousand, and I had over 4,000 subscribers. It felt great. Then some people came in, made up a bunch of lies, cancel culture hit, and I lost almost everyone. That was seven years ago.
Every now and then someone who remembers the old days pops in and says, “Man, this stream used to be cool… now it’s dead.” I’m still a Twitch Partner and a YouTube Partner. I still have 30–40 emotes. But I’d trade all of that in a second just to have the viewers back.
I mainly role-play, and sometimes play World of Warcraft and Overwatch. I just want an audience again. What should I do? How do I help myself rebuild this?

My last stream..

If you want to know the secret sauce…have a community before you start streaming. Going in with 0 followers more times than not will result in no success.

I am in no way a top end streamer, but as my YouTube grows(the people who watch my stream) the more viewers I end up getting. This was my best one yet.

the void

a lot of streamers talk about how to get out of the “void”, how to get more people talking, be more interactive, and stop feeling like you’re streaming to nobody.

the truth is, there’s no secret answer that’s going to work for everyone. there are tips and tricks, sure, but you can’t force people to watch you. and constantly worrying about your viewer count will drain you faster than anything.

whether you’re a brand new streamer, a small streamer, or someone who had a community and came back to an empty chat, it’s hard. but you have to stop letting the numbers consume you.

turn off the viewer count. play games you actually enjoy. talk, have fun, be yourself. streaming should be about enjoying what you’re doing first, not obsessing over who’s watching.

there’s no secret formula. sometimes you just have to keep showing up, keep having fun, and let people find you along the way.
