Unknown song, possibly German – Please help me identify the accent
Hello,
I'm currently looking for an unknown song called “My Pretty Doll.” Here's a YouTube link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t6yL06IyAs
The OP claimed to have recorded it from a British radio station around 2009, but it was later discovered that the backstory was fake and he knew the song all along but is still gatekeeping its real title and author to this very day. He said the song could be from either the United Kingdom or Germany because a lot of German music was recorded in English back in the day. This song is NOT AI-generated.
I’m still looking for this song and would like to know if, in your opinion, the accent sounds German and if so, what region of Germany the singer might be from.
Thank you very much.
[Academic Survey] How do UK audiences choose between different live music events? (18+, UK, 7–10 mins)
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m an MA Music Management student, and I’m currently conducting research for my dissertation on how UK audiences decide whether to attend different types of live music events.
If you are over 18 and based in the UK, I would greatly appreciate it if you could spend ~10 minutes on the following questionnaire:
Regarding the research: I’m looking particularly at things like attendance habits, motivations, affordability, value for money and what people seek from grassroots gigs, large concerts, independent festivals and major promoter-backed festivals.
The aim isn’t to argue that one type of event is better than another. Instead, I’m interested in understanding what influences those choices and whether there are insights that could help grassroots venues and independent promoters build repeat attendance and more sustainable audiences.
You can take part if you:
- are 18 or over
- currently live in the UK
- have attended at least one in-person live music event in the UK within the past three years
The questionnaire is completely anonymous.
I’d really appreciate any responses, and I’m also very happy to answer questions about the research in the comments. Thank you! 🖤
Venues are telling me a DJ pulls the same crowd as a band for a fraction of the cost. If you book them or play. is that actually true?
I play the grassroots circuit and I've been talking to venue operators, the same thing keeps coming back almost word for word:
"band nights don't perform any better than DJ nights, but they cost a lot more and are far more hassle."
I don't think they're wrong about their own tills, what I can't work out is whether that's just how it is now, or whether it's a solved problem somewhere else?
- Is there something bands or venues do that actually changes the maths?
- If you run a room, does a band night ever out-earn a DJ night, and what makes the difference when it does?
- If you're in a band, what have you seen work? (door splits, midweek slots, bringing your own crowd, anything).
Im trialling a new platform for gig booking. Bands can search for venues, studios and musicians . Venues can search for bands or post their available dates to get matched. Its called GigHive. Please check it out and give honest feedback.
reddit.comIs this Ai album artwork?
It sure looks suspicious. Everything about it from the art style to the font to the colouring just seems very familiar.
