Looking for feedback on my semester 1 schedule
Incoming freshman, studying Stats & Data Science. Any feedback is appreciated!
How much of orientation do I actually have to do
A lot of the the things flagged on the schedule honestly seem like a waste of time. Other than like check in and like meeting with counselor how much of it is actually required
Is it worth it to pass as my preferred gender at UT orientation?
I’m a 18 FTM that’s about to attend their freshman orientation this month looking for advice from other trans students. I’ve been debating whether it’s worth it to try to go by he/him at my orientation or not. I haven’t physically transitioned and won’t be able to any time soon, I do have a binder but a rather feminine voice and no packer. I’m wondering if it’s worth it since if I go by he/him, I’d also have to somehow explain why I’m being put in the girls dorm for the night. Im also thinking if I don’t go by he/him, If to go by they/them so I at least don’t have to be called by assigned gender. I wanted to ask for advice from anyone who tried passing as their preferred gender at orientation.
Immunization for orientation ut
My orientation is tmrw and I just submitted my immunization records at 11am today. Regristration is technically in 2 days at 3pm so am I good to register for classes without paying the expedited fee?
what are yalls thoughts on my freshman yr schedule?
how are profs & workload ?? im so nervy
fist semester schedule opinion
incoming econ major (ba) i think i spaced it out pretty well but thoughts on times and professors
How bad would it be to have the last date for Orientation?
I had the date of orientation for Tmrw and the 7th, but i was made aware my immunizations are out of date so I had to reschedule. I could go 15th and 16th or the 22nd/23rd. 22nd/23rd would be more convenient for me, but I know, being the last date, it is likely that a lot of my classes won't be available. I am ECE and this is my first year. Would it be that bad if I switched the date to the 22nd/23rd?
Is my "direct cost" just housing?
I checked financial aid and it lists my direct cost, before aid and stuff, as $6,484k. I get free tuition (poor and Valedictorian), so is this my actual total cost (just housing?). I chose Moore-Hill which should be like 14.5k (which half of it would be more than the 6k?) I'm just confused where this figure is coming from and how much more I'd actually have to pay. Additionally, my financial aid is more than that amount, so where would that excess money go?
Is Transferring to CNS possible?
Hi everyone,
I was recently accepted to UT Austin’s COLA, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to switch into the College of Natural Sciences, specifically the Public Health major, or CNS in general. Has anyone gone through this process or know how difficult it is?
Help I Used My UT Email for Target Account
For information, I am an incoming freshman who wanted to get a student discount on stuff, so my smooth brain thought I could use the UT account to prove that I’m a student. The moment I did it I regretted it and changed it to my personal email instead. Will this get me into any trouble with UT Austin?
How bad is this schedule (Incoming Freshman) - Specifically my UGS
Please let me know anything I should know about these classes or professors. Thanks!
Switching majors from Nutrition to Biology
I am a Nutritional Sciences major, and I want to switch to Biology (Human Biology). Is this an internal transfer process, or do I just have to ask my advisor?
Nutrition is in the Department of Human Ecology, and Biology is in the Department of Biosciences. Both majors and departments are within CNS. So, does this still require an internal transfer application?
Please advise on how to proceed with this! Thank you very much!
Are Dobie rooms included in the room swap period for jester east residents?
or are they completely separate from each other like would I have to apply to dobie separately? I’m trying to see for 2027-28
Ted Lasso Ad Disses UT
Has anyone seen the ‘Believe’ promo to instill inspiration and positive energy? So why include this frame? Does this feel positive to you?
Should I Be Concerned About This UGS Grade Distribution?
Hi I'm an upcoming freshman and was interested in the UGS course Being and Becoming Bilingual. After seeing the grade distribution though I am starting to get a little worried. Does anyone have more information on this class?
It has been over 24 hours and I am still trapped in the Texan Tower Condos backrooms liminal space
If you're not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the UT Austin Backrooms. Where it's nothing but the stink of ancient, coffee-stained Welch Hall carpet, the madness of windowless PMA concrete, the endless background noise of sensory-deprivation Perry-Castañeda Library basement lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty lecture halls to be trapped in.
God save you if you hear a moo echoing from miles away, because it sure as hell has heard you.
Class Registeration for fall 2026
Hi! I’m an incoming Fall 2026 ECE freshman, and my orientation is July 8–9 (Session 18).
I noticed that ECE 402 and ECE 406 show as “Closed” on the course schedule. Is that because seats are reserved for freshmen during orientation, or are they actually full?
Also, I’ve heard people say they couldn’t get any UGS during orientation even though they were open beforehand. How does that happen? Should I just have a long list of UGS backups that fit my schedule?
Finally, any registration tips for an incoming ECE freshman would be appreciated. Thanks!
