Injured baby bird on campus and needs help

I found a injured baby bird outside of CPE, the petroleum building. It looks like a blue jay and has a small wound that is attracting ants. I haven’t touched it at all. It’s in a high traffic area and could get run over by the maintenance carts accidentally. Does anyone know how to help? Anyone who studies ornithology or animal studies?

Guys wampus leasing managers are genuinely spawns of satan

I’m not going to UT Austin anymore and have been on the hunt on Facebook, insta, and snap for new tenants and it’s all just screwed. And my manager also is being so unhelpful with all of this, and I’m freaking out because I really can’t get stuck with leasee. Do u guys have any ideas on how to advertise better, because we’ll be out of country starting June and we really just want this off our hands.

The Salem Center vs. The Civitas Institute

I recently attended an event hosted by The Salem Center featuring Sad Gaad. Before the talk, I asked a docent what the relationship was between the center and Civitas. He responded "none," and that this was their last event. He said that Hartzell was responsible for closing them down, and that it had much to do with how aggressive they were (I assumed he meant the establishment of the Liberty Institute, now Civitas). I asked if it was because of "God," by which I meant many Salem folks are Ayn Rand atheists and Civitas is mostly Christian Nationalists. He said "no."

I'm writing to ask if anyone is in the "know" about the relation between these two units? I have asked around folks affiliated with the business school, and no one seems to have an answer.

I am speculating that, indeed, it has something to do with atheism vs. theism, but really cannot confirm or deny. It's just a guess.

Anyone here have any insight? I'm not a fan of either, just trying to figure out what is going on at UT since opacity has gotten worse, not better.

Questions About UT Longhorn Band Color Guard🤘

Hi everyone! I’m a potential transfer student at UT Austin, and I’m thinking about trying out for the Longhorn Band Color Guard. I did color guard for 4 years in high school and really miss performing and being part of a team.

I wanted to ask current/former members:

  • What is the team culture like?
  • Is it competitive to make?
  • What’s the time commitment like during the season?
  • Does it cost money to participate?
  • Overall, is it worth it?

I’d love to hear honest experiences or advice. Thanks! 🤘🧡

Is it too late to ask for regrades on final exams? (It def is, isn't it)

For context, I decided not to look at any of my grades to save myself my peace of mind, but being curious, I took a look at my grades today and realized that a whole page on my final exam wasn't scanned (therefore, I got no points for that section) I 100% did the page and, with those points I would've gotten an 80 which would've changed my letter grade completely.

I tried looking online, but I couldn't find any information about this subject. I'm so sure they would have thrown the exams out by now, maybe???

Not going to drive myself insane over this, but if anyone knows the window frame, please do lmk.

How much do I need for living while a master student?

Hi! I'm a international student looking for a scholarship in Engineering Management Master’s Degree Program in 2027 at Austin. Does any another international alumn have any tips? I'm doing a research about the cost of living. What are the cheapest options?

Any Laptop recommendations for McCombs incoming freshman?

I’m going to be a Freshman at McCombs next year, and I was wondering if anyone could give me recommendations for a laptop. I’m leaning toward finance or accounting for my future major. The budget for the laptop would probably be around $1500, max around $2000ish.

Do you have advice for an incoming grad student for housing?

Hi everyone! I am an incoming grad student at the UT Austin's school of music this fall and am looking for affordable, but decent housing. I'm working with a locator and she found me a really nice studio for 1300 per month. Is this a good deal price wise, or could I do better? Also, do most grad students live with roommates to save on costs? What would be a good budget for living alone vs with roommates?

What's the Absolute Minimum Battery Life I Can Get By With? (ECE major)

I have an absolute beast of a laptop (Acer Predator Helios Neo 16), but the battery only lasts 4-5 hours. Can I get by with this or should I return my laptop and get a different one (It's basically brand new).

Also, are outlets abundant in classrooms/library?

Responses from ECE/CS/Engineering majors are preferred.

What are your fav bathrooms on campus?

My top two are probably the Alumni Center (MASSIVE too btw, like 30 stalls) and the Harry Ransom Center... In my experience both very clean, quiet, and pleasant places to sit for like half an hour and doomscroll.

Nastiest one off the top of my head is the one next to Jendy’s, and the most disappointing (I would expect much better) are the ones in the PCL.

Im planning to do my statistics & data science bachelors degree in 2 years at UT, but as an incoming freshman I am not sure if my course plan is viable, anyone got advice? My biggest concern is whether course planners will allow me to take the courses I want, and if the prerequisite statistics courses will be available over the summer.
