Abandoned Meat Factory

If it weren't for their illegal dumping of pig blood into a creek, maybe this location would stand a chance.

This Columbia Meat Packing company operated for nearly a century as a local institution before becoming embroiled in a major environmental scandal. In 2010, a drone captured aerial photographs showing a dark red stream of pig blood emptying from the facility into Cedar Creek. This discovery triggered a massive joint investigation by local, state, and federal authorities, which revealed that the plant had bypassed the city's sewage system to illegally dump thousands of gallons of industrial wastewater and animal blood.

Abandoned Kindred Hospital

Constructed in 1983, this abandoned LTACH facility used to specialize in the extended hospitalization and rehabilitation of their patients. It ceased its operations two years post-Covid (Summer of 2021), due to a filed WARN notice. While official reasons for its closure isn't publicly available, one can speculate it was for financial benefit, as by closing down this facility (and many of their other ones), Kindred Healthcare would eliminate redundancy, improve efficiency, and concentrate specialty programs at fewer locations.

House On The Hill

As the title suggests, found this house through Google's satellite imaging; an abandoned house situated atop a small hill. The structure represents Traditional American Vernacular Farmhouse architecture, which incorporates distinct Folk Victorian stylistic influences; most likely built somewhere around the late 1800's to early 1900's.

Attebury Silos

The Attebury Grain complex in Wichita Falls, Texas, originated in 1896 when city pioneers Joseph Kemp and Frank Kell took over the Wichita Valley Milling Company to establish a high-capacity flour and agricultural distribution hub. The towering concrete silos were expanded throughout the early-to-mid 20th century to store bulk grain and feed the city's rapidly growing industrial sector. While the original historic flour mill on the property closed permanently in the late 20th century following decades of corporate transitions and a major 1977 financial scandal, the facility never fully shut down.
