My neighbor parked in front of my house today

Hi all,

My 2013 Volvo V60 just failed the Irish NCT on a visual inspection because the tester marked the battery as “insecure.”

Thing is, the battery genuinely doesn’t move by hand at all. Terminals are tight and there seems to be a lower retaining clamp fitted already, but someone suggested online that maybe a clamp or bracket is still missing.

There’s also quite a bit of empty space around the battery in the tray, so I’m wondering if: • the battery is the wrong size for the tray, • a factory spacer/bracket is missing, • or if this setup just looks wrong to Volvo owners.

I’ve attached a photo. Does anything obvious look missing or incorrect here before I go back for the retest?

So my rare lady has decided to stretch her timing chain (got all the fault codes and the mileage aligns with what many experience this).

Does anyone know how big a job this is, and how many hours of time it would likely take? This has the rare Ford 2.0 (245bhp) petrol engine (same as the Focus ST). I’m just trying to get a feel for how much I need to budget for this.
