Is a walking pad worth it?

I'm a med student and was thinking about getting a walking pad as I spend a lot of time in my apartment studying, watching shows, etc, and my apartment does not have a gym nor am I within realistic walking distance to any gyms. However so much of the feedback online is split that I'm wondering if this is a worthwhile investment. If I got one, I would most likely use it a decent amount, probably an hour a day.

I feel fairly confident that I would actually use it if I got one, but I don't want to get something that is going to die out in a couple of months. For context I am 6 foot 1 and around 235 lbs. My ideal budget is likely around 200-250.

Walking pad under ₹15k?

I’m a complete beginner and looking for a good walking pad under ₹15k. I’ve heard some stop abruptly during power cuts, so I’d prefer one that slows down/stops gradually.

Looking for recommendations from people who’ve used theirs for a long time, especially regarding durability and after-sales service.

How loud is it for downstairs neighbors?

I just got a DeerRun walking pad and love it so far, but I’m curious how loud it actually is for my downstairs neighbors. I live in an apartment and don’t want to be super annoying for my neighbor for an hour or two every day. I know it probably depends on how thick my floor/their ceiling is, but does anyone know how loud it actually is in the apartment below?

Belt to tight?

Tried my walking pad for about 30 minutes and it started to smell slightly burnt and turned it off immediately.

I can only lift the belt this high in the middle. Is it perhaps too tight?

Its centered and doesn't move left or right.

What speed do you usually use on your walking pad while typing?

I recently added a KingSmith C2 to my setup to get more steps in while WFH. I noticed that when I walk at 1.5 mph, my hands shake a bit and it gets harder to type. If I go down to 1 mph, it feels too slow.
How long did it take you to get used to walking while working and increase your speed?

Logistics of Using Walking Pad while Streaming/Gaming?

Streaming and sitting for so long (4-6+ hours at a time) makes me worried about my health, especially since I've got a very seated job and lifestyle. So I've been thinking about getting a walking pad to stream with!

Did some light research and I've got some questions. Never used a walking pad before, let alone used one while streaming!

Does using a walking pad require a different mic (or a headset mic) for good audio quality?

Has walking while playing affected your gameplay negatively?

Does walking while playing/streaming make reading things like chat messages harder?

What actually matters for a first setup vs what collects dust?

TLDR: A month of WFH from the couch has destroyed my back and I'm finally doing something about it. Need help cutting through the noise on what actually matters for a first setup.

Okay so my back has officially filed a formal complaint and I can no longer ignore it. One month of hunching over a laptop on the dining table and I look like a question mark. Fully deserved, I know. I've been down the research rabbit hole for about two weeks now and somehow I know less than when I started. Every thread leads to five more threads, every just get this recommendation has a reply saying actually don't get that. I'm genuinely worried I'm going to either buy a bunch of stuff I'll never use or cheap out on the one thing that actually matters. The gear graveyard fear is real, I don't want to spend money on things that end up shoved in a corner. Also, walking pads keep showing up everywhere I look. Curious if anyone actually uses one consistently

How to fix knocking noise?

This noise happens randomly and without pattern, can be loud or quieter. I tried tightening bolts and lubricating belt but didn’t seem to help. Any thoughts?

I just bought a used walking pad…

I was told that I should give it lubricant and then make sure that the belt is running evenly but I’m not sure if this belt is too loose since it runs evenly in the back but not evenly in the front and when I get on the walking pad, it pulls all the way to the right and I immediately get off because I’m scared I’ll damage the belt. Heard it could also be the floor? But not sure how much so? Thoughts?
