[Sharing Pictures] I happen to work in the marketing department of a big distributor

[Not promoting anything, since we are based in Argentina. I’m just sharing pictures for the people who enjoy simply looking at watches]
Figured you might like my work, being as enthusiasts as we are. I have some videos too and I’ll be working there for a while I hope so let me know if you liked this or would be interested in more posts like this in the future.

[Seiko Crown J15003E] A glimpse of Grand Seiko before Grand Seiko

One of my recent vintage Seiko pickups — a Seiko Crown J15003E from around late 1950s.

The dial is what really got me. It has this unusual split-concentric or "record groove" finish, with incredibly fine circular lines that change from silver to almost charcoal depending on the light. Add the long applied markers and dauphine hands and it feels very distinctly late-1950s/early-1960s.

Inside is Seiko's 21-jewel hand-wound Cal. 560. The Crown itself is an important part of Seiko history: introduced in 1959, it became the technical basis for the first Grand Seiko released in 1960.

At 36.5mm with 19mm lugs, it also wears beautifully. Probably one of my favourite examples of early Seiko doing a lot with a very simple design.

[Citizen] 1952 Triple Calendar Ref. 1505 — much prettier in person than I expected

I recently picked up this early Citizen Triple Calendar and was honestly surprised by how beautiful it is in person.

This is the Ref. 1505 from 1952, generally regarded as Japan’s first triple-calendar wristwatch. At only around 33mm, Citizen managed to fit the day, month and pointer date into what is still a very elegant little dress watch.

What really got me, though, is the dial. The aged ivory surface, gold applied numerals, blue date track, framed calendar windows and that tiny seconds subdial somehow all work together without feeling overly busy. There’s a lot going on, but it still looks remarkably balanced.

It’s also a nice reminder that Citizen was already experimenting with fairly complicated mechanical watches in the early 1950s, long before the Japanese watch industry became the force we normally associate with the 1960s and 70s.

Definitely one of those watches that I bought because I found it historically interesting, but ended up liking much more simply because of how it looks.

Just my Murph 38 on a new Veblenist canvas strap. Such a versatile piece, Dre’s it up or dress it down - it’s just classy.

Precisionist Movement

My 3rd Bulova with this movement, and it's my favorite one. Other 2 are the Jetstar and Curv. Super Seville is the sweet spot though.

Kakhi Sub quartz

My only quartz mvmt in the collection. Only watch I got without box or papers. But it just called to me and I had to have it. Great condition too. Very happy with it.

[Mini Collection Monday] Share a smaller part of your collection in theme-based arrangement. Mine: Stone Dials

This weeks arrangement of watches focuses on dials specifically. I see mixed opinions, but I am definitely a fan of stone dials when done right. Stone gives each watch a unique look and I just enjoy the depth and texture that these dials display.

My mini collection features 4 completely different watches with very different stones. The black marble Aquacy bronze diver was the first microbrand watch I purchased. I thought the black and white stone against the bronze case was so cool looking and I got it for a super low price. Looking back it was actually a really good deal (not a beginners mistake like many I bought) and has stuck around in my collection with no plan to sell.

The second piece I added was the limited edition Spinnaker Hull with the turquoise dial. Coincidentally, another bronze watch. Turquoise is my wife’s birthstone and I just thought it was a neat looking piece that’s almost impossible to find now, even on the secondary market.

The Duxot Marcel is not a watch I would usually go for (as it’s a clear homage), but, like the turquoise for my wife, the pink opal is my birthstone. It’s not my highest quality piece, but it is limited to 75 and does look pretty good on the wrist.

The last piece, and my favorite of the 4, is the Erebus Ascent tiger eye. Not only is the dial awesome and the brown makes it super versatile, but the watch is extremely high quality and an easy one to wear.

4 watches. 4 stone dials. Let me know what you think of this group, stone dials in general, and as always- share a mini collection of your own!

[Girard-Perregaux] Ref. 4930 - small case, big details

This is my GP Ref. 4930 from the Vintage 1996 line, a 1990s reinterpretation of a GP chronograph from around 1960. The case is only 36mm, but the unusual 21mm lug width gives it much more presence.

I particularly like the tall, box-shaped sapphire crystal, which gives the character of vintage plexiglass without the same vulnerability to scratches. Inside is the 63-jewel Calibre 3170—GP’s first chronograph calibre built on its slim in-house 3100 automatic base—with an 18k-gold rotor visible through the sapphire caseback. Compact, elegant and mechanically more interesting than it first appears.

[Hamilton] My 16 year old son bought his first Hamilton! Proud Dad!

From a 1941 Martin to the newest Jazzmaster Day-Date, my collection includes 14 pieces from Hamilton Watch Company. It spans everything from a humble Casio Duro to a $55,000+ Rolex Day-Date 228239. But out of 200+ watches, Hamilton has always held a special place for me, it was my first true “grown-up” purchase.

When my son started his journey into watches, I did what most of us do, I got him the classic Invicta Pro Diver. Over time, he added a few more Invictas, a couple of Seiko pieces, and even some vintage Kienzle watches.

This summer, he landed his first job as a Youth Counselor at the local YMCA. Early on, he set a goal: by the end of the summer, he’d save enough to buy his first “big boy” watch. His dream piece? An Omega Seamaster. But on a summer job paycheck, that one will have to wait.

Still, he always had his eye on my Hamiltons. Something attainable, something meaningful.

Today, that goal became reality.

Taking advantage of a sale from Jomashop, he picked up his very first “big boy” watch: the Hamilton Khaki King Field Automatic.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it—for both of us.
