I've been wearing the new Longines Hydroconquest every day for a few months, but I'm taking a break to switch back to my Seikos and Casio to see how they hold up. It's honestly really refreshing to go back to some more affordable, fun watches.

Hey everyone, I’ve just wanted to share my most recent experience with a Seiko watch, specifically the SBTR019 from their Selection Chronograph collection in Japan. It has a beautiful sunburst blue dial, a beautiful blue alligator-style strap, and a push-button holdover clasp, so it doesn’t actually wear out the holes in the strap.

Last year, I purchased the SSB479 from a dealer, and I’ve really enjoyed the watch's overall design and aesthetic, though even at the discounted price of $379, I thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was.

The SBTR019 I just purchased was $120 before shipping, has the same 8T63 movement, offers higher water resistance at 100M instead of 50M, and comes with a factory bracelet or leather strap option. I find it really interesting how the quality of this watch seems to be better overall compared to the SSB479, feels more solid, and it’s a lot more comfortable to wear with the knowledge that it’ll survive more than a light splash.

I’m still early in my journey of looking at different JDM watches from Seiko and Citizen, and it amazes me just how good their domestic watches are.

Hey everyone, I recently bought a fantastic new old stock Seiko SRPK17. It captures the original Seiko 5 vintage design, with a case and bezel built to modern specifications. It also comes with a full factory warranty. I’ve also recently purchased an old vintage Seiko 5 DX watch that has a similar design. While it’s incredibly well built and charming, it lacks manual hand winding, waterproofness, a fiddly movement, and a general fear that I would break it. I really enjoy the design of the DX, but I never actually wear it because of this fear. I ended up selling it because of that. To be honest, I think I was influenced by watching a bunch of YouTubers talking about the charms of vintage watches, but for most people I think they should probably steer clear unless they are incredibly passionate and willing to deal with the downsides.

Hey everyone, I just went to the boutique to try on the Octo Finissimo watch, and I am amazed by how striking this time piece is, as well as how thin and delicate it appears. Right now, I mostly have dive watches from Rolex, Tudor and Glashutte, and I treat my watches recently hard. The question would be how durable has this watch been for most people? Are there any quirks I should be worried about wearing this as a daily piece?

Hey everyone, for my first Spinnaker watch I chose the Piccard as in my opinion it’s their most interesting model. Designed to look like the original Rolex Deep sea special, it has a thick case, helium escape valve and an intriguing bubble crystal. So far, my experience has been great, but my only complaint right now has Bin Bin the bracelet clap, which is pressed metal, and even though there is a on the flight divers extension, it’s literally that and doesn’t offer on the fly micro adjustment. My question for the community is what are the best options for the specific bracelet to add on the fly micro adjustment?

Hello everyone, I got to try on the Overseas in pink gold, and it’s an absolutely beautiful timepiece. Even though I really like the design of this watch, for a more dailyable piece, I would prefer to get the stainless steel model, saving the gold model for special occasions. Based on your experiences, would it be worth buying the gold model today, and waiting for the stainless steel model at the botique, or is it worth just buying the stainless steel model on the grey market?

Hello everyone, I’ve just attended the Windup Watch event where they’ve partnered with Long Island Watch and heir new model is really cool. This model has a great Jubilee bracelet, solid construction, and an incredibly bold design with fantastic lume. Even though it’s not exactly my taste, they’ve done a fantastic job with the overall fit and finish.

I also wanted to add that everyone that I’ve interacted with from the LIW team are incredibly approachable and knowledgeable, and they’ve fielded every question I could think of, from whether they’ll plan to carry San Martin in the future (they won’t) to also whether the Seiko SNR is a good medium for a diver with a Spring Drive movement.

Hey everyone, I’ve been collecting Casio watches for years, and I finally got my first automatic Casio. It’s mostly made of forged carbon, and I’m incredibly impressed. After wearing it for 24 hours, it only drifted around three seconds throughout the day. It’s beautifully finished, has an intriguing design, and has been an amazing conversation starter with my coworkers, who usually collect Seiko watches. I’m curious about the experiences people have had with the EFK automatic series, and other carbon watches like the Tissot PRX in carbon. All my other watches are on metal bracelets with full stainless steel housings, so I’m curious if there’s a meaningful difference in having carbon as a material for the case.

I recently got my first Casio Edifice Automatic watch, and I’m thoroughly impressed by its exceptional fit and finish. I’m currently thinking about purchasing other carbon watches, such as the Tissot PRX in carbon, and I’d like to know if anyone else has any experience with this model or other carbon watches.

Yesterday, I got to try on the gold version of this watch, since they didn’t have the stainless steel version on hand, and it was amazing. Hey everyone, I just reached out to Andiot to inquire about ordering some VSF parts and received this WhatsApp message explaining that we can now preorder from VSF without having to pay before receiving QC photos. I guess this is their solution to the backlog of orders VSF currently has.

Today, I finally visited My A.D. to try out the new Longines Hydroconquest. To be honest, I was quite disappointed given the hype surrounding the watch. Compared to my 126610 Submariner, it feels less substantial. It features a pin and collar bracelet link system, a rattler bracelet, and a bezel that resembles a San Martin more than a Rolex. Don’t get me wrong, this watch is fantastic at its price point, but it falls short of 95% of a Submariner.

Honestly, I believe most people should consider getting a Tudor Black Bay or Pellagos if they can save up a bit more money. Both are now below MSRP, address all the issues I’ve mentioned, have COSC or METAS certification, and feel far more substantial and refined. I guess this is what happens when I rely on social media watch recommendations.
