Random Seals

My son was in Tokyo and got me the Time for Tea stamp and the Japanese custard stamp. I am in love with them!🫖❤️ The seals turned out pretty sloppy but will try again. I painted one of the custard seals with acrylic markers (top right) and cut the pieces on the other one(bottom right). Will keep trying..🙂

My little pony

The cottage gave me a hell of a time cutting today, got frustrated and said that's good enough! I cut the flowers from another stamp and glued them on. The horse was very satisfying. When I was making Globs of scraps of Wax I thought this pattern would look good on a seal last picture is the back of it I thought it was so pretty.

Signet rings with their impressions

I made a set of custom silver signet rings for family members, and these are the seals they produce! With old fashioned 'Güterman wappenlack', sealing wax.

Glue n Glow

Because I’m obsessed still with glow in the dark seals I decided to try it with Adtech crystal clear glue.

Glow in the dark pigment powder mixes well into glue during furnace melt process.

Glows great in the spoon. (Secretly wishes I could brew a huge batch of this in a cauldron for Halloween).

Does not hold onto its glow properties well even after minutes under a black light. Almost instant fading happens.

I added silver mica powder to the clear glue which when mixed with the glow in the dark powder lost some of its clarity and became cloudy. Probably don’t need crystal clear glue if you’re going to do this.

Overall glow satisfaction: 3 / 10 (still fun to mix and concoct glowing potions, but severely lacking in glow longevity and beautiful visual sealiness*). *Yes I made up that word.

Sealed in Time

While experimenting with glow and glue I decided to experiment with encasing wax in Adtech crystal clear glue seals.

I used Vaseline to adhere the wax cut out for the heart envelope. As you can see it helped to hold the heat and melted the wax a bit while stamping in glue.

With the rose I first cut out the excess wax and then put it back into the stamp and used my BBQ lighter to melt it back in the stamp. It lost its shape as the wax remelted but it stayed in the stamp and I was able to get a clear wax seal encased in glue. I’m happy with the results of the rose.

Wax Seals?

Do any of you have much experience using or making wax seals? I want to make some hand outs for my DnD group with their official commissions from their kingdom.

I'm looking for a variety of colors and stamps so they can kind of collect them over the course of the campaign.

Additionally I thought sending some letters sealed with them to folks who play online might be fun so something that could endure mailing would be a big plus.

Thanks All.

Today's Wax Playground

The first two photos are colors I mixed for brown. I'm sharing them because of the discussion about how to make brown. Those two colors were used in the next photo for a coffee bean seal. The last photo is two seals with dried flowers. I smudged the one on top with my finger. I thought it had hardened. Obviously it hadn't.

I made these seals directly on envelopes going out to pen pals. I have had 0 luck with getting pre-made seals to stay on, even when I rough up the back of the seal. I'm looking for new ideas because I'd really like to use my pre-made ones.

Frequently stuck

This is my first seal kit i bought from aliexpress. Most seals get a bit hard to come off, but some get really stuck in the mat. I thougt the silicone mat was suposed to be non adherent, am i doing something wrong? I tried the paw shaped wax that came with the kit but also made some with crayons and hot glue, plastic crayons and hot glue and maped infinity pencils and hot glue. The golden one is keramik

The Golden Ticket II

As suggested to try it with black scrape and pour on gold to get that real golden ticket Willy Wonka feel.

I forget who suggested it. But thank you. If I find the comment of who made the recommendation I’ll tag you in the comments 😊.

I find black or solid colours are so great for scrape and pour as detail in 2D stamps. Sometimes the metallics aren’t as crisp as I’d like.

I tried it!

I tried u/hyperwaxationstation s technique and I'm very happy I did. While mine didn't turn out as beautiful as theirs did it'sfun to do. I will keep working at it. It's a really intriguing process.

Darker when melted

I bought this gorgeous metalic shade of purple on aliexpress but it turns really darker and not shiny at all. I rubbed some highlighter on top to try to compensate. Tried both lighting by the wick and melting cutted pieces in the spoon. Is it normal? Am i heating too much? Or it's just a really bad wax?

Also these purple lumps get REALLY stuck to the spoon and give the seal a weird texture
