I saved so much money altering my Mams dress

Im not going to lie, I hated it when I first tried it on. It was very poofy and 80s. After speaking with a seamstress though I could see the vision. All in all I think the alterations cost me less than £200 and I managed to preserve my favourite parts of my Mams dress while making it my own.

What do you think? I wouldn't change it for the world

i need your opinions

i feel like the dress lays very flat from the bottom and would have looked better if there was more hip projection or volume from the sides to give it that ball gown effect. idk if i’m overthinking or maybe just need reassurance. does it look flat and awkward from the bottom or is it good the way it is ? i’m unsure how to feel

Not happy with wedding dress alterations

I took my strapless wedding dress to a highly recommended seamstress to have straps made and added, the back seam taken in and length taken up.

I am not happy with the work at all. It’s not neat and the straps look awful and are nothing like what I asked for. They’re also stitched from the front of the dress which looks terrible, there’s stitching all over the straps and you can see where two bits of fabric have been joined together.

The hem also isn’t neat or straight and the layers are different both sides where the satin attaches to the chiffon. I have also noticed pulls all over the satin which weren’t there before, so it’s basically ruined.

She is only offering me a £30 refund (of £130 that I paid) for the straps as these are not what I asked for. She claims it’s because there wasn’t enough material off the end to make the straps I asked for (which she didn’t communicate with me).

The seamstress is saying the work is professional and done with care, and point blank refusing to refund more. Can I get some second opinions of the quality of work please and what you think I should do? I’m so upset!

The dress cost £180 and seamstress £130 so I’m £310 out of pocket and just want to get a new dress now.

Is this too fancy to wear for reception as a second dress? First dress (all lace) for and venue pictured. Going to get it altered!

Sample sale dress

I bought a sample sale dress for $200, what can be done for it to fit besides a lace up back? It is at least 2 sizes too small.

Thoughts on this dress for welcome party or reception? Is it too much? What event should I wear it for? Top is floral beading

Idk how I feel about my dress

Hello to anyone who will read 🥲🫶

My wedding is in like five days and I just had my first fitting yesterday of my custom dress and I don't know how I feel about it. It has a lace skirt with a detachable train and tbh I think that's the only part I like about it?

I've already asked the designer to lengthen the inner sleeves a bit more as it looks odd. The bodice is what is throwing me off I think 🥲

My parents who were there at the fitting AND the designer both LOVED the dress and thought it looked amazing on me. I'm just not sure.

Side note: I will be wearing a white hijab for the wedding and a veil as well.

Driving myself crazy with which dress to wear to what event (reception and welcome party!)

I have two dresses #1 is strapless and #2 is tie back elegant kinda shiny. I love both! I am really torn with what dress to wear to what event. My welcome party is at the big house pictured and reception is in a gorgeous garden in the mountains. My ceremony dress is all lace (pictured) so the contrast of the more simple for reception appeals to me! Before people hate and tell me to wear my wedding dress all day I cannot lift my arms and want to be comfortable to boogie all night so definitely changing 💃🏼💃🏼 please help me decide!

Getting closer to the final fit

What do you guys think? I'm trying to finalize my look this is what i have so far. The first is with the detachable skirt. It's coming off after the ceremony. second picture is without it.

Having second thoughts

Absolutely loved this when I tried it on and now with it being prom season I can’t help but feel like this dress looks like a prom dress and looks tacky wkth the beading in the back. Also feel like it may nkt be the right dress for my body type. Thoughts??

Besoin de vos avis !

Bonjour !

Should i add straps?

I don’t think i usually look good in a strapless dress but I loved the lace on this one and gave it a try. I thought it looked great in person but when looking back on photos, Im not sure if i look too ‘squishy’ up top. I typically go for straps that hide my insecurities. Should I add straps? Would that ruin the whole look? Stay with strapless?

I was also thinking of adding some more fabric to the deep v to make it semi sheer instead of totally see through. Not sure if that would look nice?

To line or not to line

I have my dress! I’m not totally in love with the nude illusion though. Do you think it would still look ok if I added a lining to the front? I like the back more open, but I think I’d feel more comfortable if it were a little more modest. Thinking of lining just up to the top of the cups, not the straps

Already planning on having them loosen the waist a little unless I lose weight (tho I believe clothes should be made to fit you!) and then hem & bustle

Help me choose my dress please! 55 days away from the wedding and no dress yet

Im 30 years old 5’1. Im getting married in 55 days and I don’t have a dress yet. I wanna look young and slim in my wedding. I would like to conceal my big breast and thick arms (I know I have to love my body the way it is but my thick arms are a big insecurity for me). Both dresses prices are the same. Which one should I choose and why? Be brutally honest pls.

accessory help

Getting married on Halloween, needing help with accessories. I love black and gold. This was fresh out the box so def needs to be streamed. Having second guesses the more I stare at it, but I think some ideas on accessories might make me love it again and get out of my head. Having a romantic goth theme if that helps!

$10K budget.

Is it okay if I don’t follow the tradition of wearing white shoes? I want to prioritize comfort and be practical about it. I want to buy shoes that I can wear and enjoy even after our wedding day. My wedding dress is a long, mermaid-cut gown that will cover my feet anyway!

It's four weeks before the wedding and my dress might be too small

Hi guys,

I got my dress altered recently and I'm not sure if it's now too small in the ribcage and sides or if I'm just not used to boning in clothing. The only thing she did was sew the deep v in the center of the dress together and she said she'd have to take in some of the stomach to prevent bulging.

I tried it on yesterday with shapewear for the first time and it is hard to get it zipped up but it does zip with help. I am able to life the skirt of the dress up past my stomach to where my ribs are but no further so I don't think it's too tight in the stomach. It does feel difficult to move side to side and the boning sits extremely snug against the sides of my ribs it also feels a little tight when I take a large breath but I still can breathe. I'm not sure if I'm just not used to wearing a corseted dress or if it's too small and my wedding is in four weeks!

Note: I'm not wearing shapeware in the last image.

Keep current dress #1 or go for #2?

Recently bought #1 which is such a romantic mermaid, but lately I’ve been feeling called towards a ballgown/drop waist (#2)! If you were me, which dress would you go for?
