[OC] The Deepest Hole Ever Drilled Reached 0.19% of the Way to Earth’s Centre

Source: Kola Superdeep Borehole depth from Popov et al. (1999). Earth radius and internal layers from NASA and USGS. Eiffel Tower height: 330 metres.

Tools: Python with Pillow. The Earth cross-section uses an exact radial scale.

At full 5400 px resolution, the true scale borehole depth is 3.46 px.

The borehole is approximately 37 Eiffel Towers deep. If Earth were reduced to 1 metre wide, the hole would be 0.96 mm deep.

Tai'shar Manetheren, by Horn Blower

Inspired by a newly acquired 1988 Yamaha PSS-140 keyboard and my third reread of The Wheel of Time, I recorded a handful of simple songs. Thus was born HORN BLOWER: cheesy fantasy synth that sounds like early-’90s video game music and goes hard on Wheel of Time lore. No effects, no computer assisted recording, and no attempt to smooth over the ugly noises of aging capacitors; just raw Randland worship.

Let's play a game! Who is that WoT character??

Got this idea from the 17th shard podcast, Shardcast. At the end of every episode, they play Who's that Cosmere character. Essentially you submit 5 statements about a character and everyone else has to guess who it is, one clue at a time. There are so many characters in WoT that I thought it would be a fun game to play here. Ill go first :)
