Ammo? We are the ammo! The Human Cannonball Maneuver

Backstory:

So, my friends and I started our own HD2 unit called the Hellhammers. As you guessed it, we are hammer lovers. Three subfactions in our unit include: Flying Hellhammers, Ground N’ Pound, and Speed Demons.

Flying Hellhammers primarily use Jump Packs to fly and kill, but any method of flying or being catapulted into the air is embraced. Thus, we have been experimenting with different methods of getting a Flying Hellhammer as high and as far as possible with the goal of landing a Hellhammer on the back of a Leviathan to ride it and then kill it using the hammer alone. One sport we do in our faction is riding the enemies for as long as possible before killing it.

We have experimented with many things, with the auto cannon sentry catapult producing the best results until last night after a long session of experimentation…(that’s why you hear me being shocked, it was after so many failed attempts).

The Bureau of Offensive Navigation and Kinetics (B.O.N.K.), the research on mobility branch of the Hellhammers, has began utilizing a fully mobile Flying Hellhammer catapulting system.

We have been able to successfully aim the catapult at something in the distance and launch the Flying Hellhammer in that direction without killing or even ragdolling the Hellhammer. Meaning, we have launched our comrades into combat at mach speeds while they retain the ability to swing the hammer all while airborne. We are able to launch someone 50m, 75m, 100m, or even completely off the map without ragdolling the person!

Here, my friend was airborne long enough for the traitor countdown to expire and he was being shot at while airborne. He finally hit the map limits where he finally started ragdolling. The destroyer kept firing at him but never hit him. He finally died because he landed in water beyond the islands in the background and he drowned :(

The Flying Hellhammer slogan: Ammo? We are the ammo!

TL;DR We were trying to figure out a way to catapult someone high and far to be able to ride Sky Whales (leviathans)

I love holding the extraction area while getting attacked by bots on all sides.

Hello! I wanted to share this for a while now and finally found the opportunity after discovering this community.

I love fighting the bots. It's hard to describe it, but for me it's like you'll never know what they'll throw at you.

Anyways, I love holding the extraction area while the bots attempt to attack us on all sides. Seeing my team do everything they can to leave the planet alive is so cool.

I'm doing my part too. Dropping shield generators and sentries as well as using my stalwart (god, I love this gun) to stop the little bots from calling their reinforcements, it's so cinematic.

It makes the extraction more satisfying.

King Kunta

clunky game disrupts flow with inconsistent feedback and interruptions. Music acts as a stable timing cue, helping the brain maintain attention and predict actions. reduces the perceived impact of bugs and keeps engagement continuous, partially restoring flow without fixing the underlying problems. Thx for the cope k but we need a permanent solution

My Helldivers 2 Minecraft mod (very unfinished) Minecraft Mod on Planet Minecraft!

Its highly, highly unfinished, however, if you notice bugs or have any suggestions feel free to drop a comment on planet Minecraft! (i likely won't check here on reddit lol)

some bugs in this version that i already fixed in my latest build:

- the automatons lasers now glow (took me longer to fix this than i care to admit)

- the wood from veld is no longer labeled malevelon (i copied my other wood-type and forgot to change it)

- super earth citizens no longer spawn on veld (idk how i missed this XD)

Quick little mock up of a Super Destroyer Formation option / ship upgrade "Autopilot Disabled".

Stage 1 - Pick Drop Point
This would be as you know it already, everyone gets in their Hellpods, then the host chooses the drop point, with others Divers being able to suggest locations.

Stage 2 - Choose Formation (New)
Once the drop point has been chosen, rather than immediately going to the stratagem loadout screen, a new series of options will appear for the host. They will be able to pick the Super Destroyer formation for the mission. Options could be:

  • Cardinal
    • One Destroyer in each cardinal direction (North / East / South / West)
  • Overwatch
    • The Destroyers are spread out evenly across the map, providing complete overwatch.
  • Centeral
    • The Destroyers will cluster up in the centre of the map.

For city missions, the formation choice will be locked to Cardinal, while being able to reposition during the mission as they do currently.
The choice of formations could help Divers with their Orbital stratagem targeting on planets with odd terrain.

Stage 3 - Stratagem Loadout
Once the formation has been chosen, things will proceed as usual.

=====

Now, this could be just a new general step in the pre-dive routine, or it could become available from a Bridge Ship Upgrade. I'm thinking "Autopilot Disabled" as the title.

Send them over the waves, our sentinels, they report in the news, position of our foes

Yeah... this one is a little bit "nerd", the planes in the meme are Curtiss SB2C Helldivers...

Does anyone else just hate fighting the *newer* illuminate faction?

I seriously don't find it fun at all. Bugs is fun cuz you're constantly being hunted, bots feels like you're fighting on the western front but the newer illuminate faction just feels so irritating. There are so many overseers 😭

Dont get me started on those eyeballs that follow you around and make no sound until they line up like a 19th century army and open fire 😮‍💨😮‍💨

This is most definitely a skill issue on my end 😭

This might be a really dumb question, but how do you know what the enemy units are called?

I'm fairly new, level 18. Yesterday there was an order to kill 6 chargers.

I have zero idea what a charger is, so I went through every menu I could find in game to see if there was a bestiary, database or infocard with the types of units for each faction. I couldn't find one, and while I'm sure I could find a wiki online, I can't help but feel like I'm missing something in the game.

I see threads naming different types of aliens, and I can get a lot of them from context, but I don't know if that's what the community named them or if I just missed something.

Have I had my glasses on my head the entire time I've been looking for them, or is this just something the game doesn't give you?

Insult my predictions as you see fit but this regards the “undisclosed location” that’s been seen (I don’t see it on my end hence circle)

If you think I’m wrong, explain as such, if you agree? Yay

Regardless: we can agree that we must exterminate the illuminate

A way to improve this mission type

Make the extraction shuttle take longer to arrive like it does in a regular mission… BUT have the enemies continue to spawn until Pelican-1 arrives.

It’s always been strange to me that Pelican-1 can zip down to the extraction site immediately on these missions but takes a couple minutes on ordinary missions.

It’s also strange to me that the enemies just… give up? once the mission is over. They don’t do this on any other mission type, aside from Elimination missions (maybe apply this change to those ones too).

This change would make these missions more believable in-universe and would make them more engaging, which is something I believe they could really use.

Imagine completing the mission, but now the base is getting overrun with enemies and you need to have a final firefight before Pelican-1 swoops down and saves you just in time.
It’s not about protecting the two generators in the back anymore. It’s about survival!

TL;DR
Keep the enemies spawning until the extraction shuttle arrives. Add the regular extraction timer to these missions, as well.
