Here is an update on the 1952 m38 jeep ive posted about a few times. got the MC title for it and historical plates, which costs very little. The share here is that i got a clone solex 32pbic off ebay and it was running very rich and smelled so bad. looking into it here and the default 127.5 jet can be replaced with a mikuni n100 '110' jet and it pulls it in perfectly. plenty of power to get to 55mph (3.54:1 axle gears) and holds mid 14:1 to 15:1 afr once there. Then if i floor it the AFR drips to low 13:1 which is good for power. So fun to drive now!
I have been working on a M38A1 project for roughly 24 years. It is a Frankenstein’s Monster of parts. Ford rear axle, Chevy engine and front axle, Mazda Miata pedals, and a couple of Jeep parts for fun. In the beginning I didn’t have money to put to the project but I did have plenty of time. Single, no kids, and going to school. Lately, I have had the funds for the project but no time. I decided to make time and pick to get it done. Started checking things off the check list. Actually, getting close to taking it for its initial voyage around the block. More updates to come.
How do you feel about flatfenders that are turned into hot rods?
I have been searching for this part for weeks and can’t find one in a good condition. It’s a 1933-1936 double skin willys model 77 hub cap. It is extremely important I find this part. Please help with any leads!
