Base game or WOTC?
Just picked the game up and wondering whether I should play the base game or jump straight into the dlc?

Posting as I just encountered the hunter who had a weakness for explosives and reapers. Queue him standing next to a car, one claymore + remote start meant he died immediately. First time I’ve ever one shot a chosen. For clarity I mean the first time you encounter them in a play through not the first time you ever fought them.
They literally blow it up in three turns...
I can't begin to say how stupid it looks for an entire swarm of lost to spawn directly on an enemy troop, but because you haven't "discovered" them, the lost run right past them. The same enemy pack that literally kills half of them, yep just run right past them..
Meanwhile my troops, who in a fkin hallway completely out of line of sight, are targeted. Five dashers and a ton of random lost (static spawns) behind a wall whose only entrance is a door blocked by, you guessed it, lost, and behind them are two packs of enemies (gotta love protect the device). I'm willing to accept some nonsensical things since it is a videogame after all, but heatseeking lost with X-ray vision who are oblivious to enemies shooting them in the face is a little bit of a stretch.
They should at least wander around randomly if they have no vision of you, and they should DEFINITELY at least be aware of enemies if they start shooting at them. /endrant
Stumbled across the Warhounds trailer today and my jaw actually dropped. This is exactly what I've been waiting for since XCOM 2. Check it out.
She is immune to exposives, ignores reaction fire and gains shielding on missed shots.
This mission is going to either win or ruin this run.
My first play through and I lost my Templar on the 2 mission out. Is this catastrophic territory here? I haven’t even seen much of what the Templars eve do 😱
So does everyone just use the original rifle for the reaper I think it’s the Vek? Because some of the skills only works for that gun.
I probably just suck but holy fuck am I getting absolutely slaughtered at the start. The warlock is supposed to be the easy chosen right? Like a joke of a character and he keeps spawning in at the absolute worst of times. Lost hordes galore, he MCs my gunner while hiding allllll the way at the back of the map making it impossible to break the MC. So now I'm down a characteer and hes murdering my squad with the gunner.
I'm just not sure what the hell is going on, i'm playing on normal(?, default) and just dying left and right..
Edit: I'm also feeling really overwhelmed with the overworld map. Like I try and extract some resources that takes 5 days and in that time about 3 other events pop up that have me flying all over the map to deal with 'immediate' needs all while the blacksite is counting down and I can't built connections there because i'm blowing resources on recruits.
Double edit: I’ve restarted. It’s going better. Just a bad series of events I guess that snowballed into living hell
Assuming France hasn't been overrun by advent..
Seriously, what were they thinking with Reapers. This is one mine (with the purifier explosion assist to finish off the mecs).
Just picked up the base game and all of the dlc for 10 bucks. After finishing midnight suns I was looking for something a little more demanding and xcom 2 is where I landed. I did a couple missions this morning and lost a couple soldiers but really enjoying my time. I would definitely appreciate some veterans insight to help me on my journey ! :p
Model and skin that replaces the Skyranger model for an Mi-24 Hind?
Not sure if this is even possible to actually pull off. It i think it would be insanely cool given that XCOM is now basically a guerrilla force working with what ever they can scrounge up. And considering the Mi-24 was produced in large numbers during the cold war.
So basically the resistance found an old Mi-24 on an abandoned airfield, fixed it up, and now XCOM use it as their battle taxi.
Looks like that itch is about to finally get scratched. First time I care about something Star Wars in my life probably - XCOM veterans making this game is the only pitch I need.
if i recall correctly, i saw somewhere on reddit that having a lot of voice mods can make the game unstable and ctd towards the end of campaign..
my last non-longwar wotc campaign, my game started to sometimes ctd on missions after idk a long time in that campaign, which is why i started the point oi no return final missions before i can't finish the campaign due to ctd's...
so what are the likely reasons of having your campaigns getting corrupted, aside from bad mods?? voice mods?? any specific mods to avoid??
Short version: dragged my feet waaaay too much in the early game. I was delaying the blacksite mission while teching up only for it to be crawling with codices, shield troopers, and vipers when I finally got there. Meanwhile I learn it only reduces Avatar progress by one when I've only got three blocks left and the alien facilities are out of my reach.
Related note, I need to focus much more on expending the rebel network. That gives access to the good stuff and would help with the supplies bottleneck I was constantly having.
Related related, it is not worth delaying construction and going deep to uncover power conduits for powerplants. If they spawn on levels three and four, just build a regular one and get a resistance comms going already, I can rebuild it later.
I know I'm very late to the party here, but just wanted to share this part of my learning experience. Probably going to restart on Veteran this time, since I can see you can very much get out of the early fragility phase once your first tier of armor and weapons starts coming in.
Had an unfortunate firefight that resulted in the only climbing point up to the evac being on the backside of the building, and I was out of explosives shredding early MEC armor. Red Haze decreased movement when injured just barely made it so he couldn't reach the evac in time.
