Tips please
I played this game years ago and enjoyed it and was decent, starting to play again and I am horrible. I like to let things occur and not reload old saves but the avatar project is 1 bar from finishing and I dont have any ranked over Sargent no supplies no Intel. I am planning on starting a new game now that I have refamiliarized myself. But could probably use a few pointers. I am playing on commander and wont change that.
Not getting any corpses from retalitation missions?
This is specifically in regards to Faceless corpses. I am missing one for a Mimic Beacon.
But i do not seem to be getting any. I just completed a Retaliation mission and i am pretty sure i did not kill the Faceless with explosives, but i still did not get the corpse.
Yeah man Id be staying back if i saw that too
no idea how this happened
Are Mutons and Berserkers the same species?
I seem to remember from somewhere that Berserkers are supposed to be female Mutons?
If so, that gives the term "muscle mommies" a whole new meaning.
Is Iron Man safe to play on Steam
On console it is a disaster, it constantly erases the game. I got it on Steam hoping I could try it there. What do people think?
Procesador: 13th Gen Intel(R) core(TM) i7-13700HX (24 CPUs), ~2.1GHz.
Sistema operativo: Windows 11 Home 64 bits.
Modelo: Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 16-r0xxx.
Memoria ram: 32 GB.
Versión de DirectX: DirectX 12.
Tarjeta gráfica: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU.
Versión del Driver: 596.49
Antecedentes que pueden servir:
La laptop ha sufrido 3 formateos por causa de un virus y una actualización de Windows corrupta que no me dejaba conectarme a internet.
Is the long war mod worth playing?
I was looking at the mod and considering it, but I want to know if a gameplay/campaign overhaul like that is worth it or if i should get something else.

Julian fight on legend, is it possible to win if haywire protocol fails?
In the Julian fight it is possible to take control of all the mecs on the map for one turn with haywire protocol. However it can also fail, and the chance is at 56%.
In my fights I've always been lucky and never had it fail, until now on my legendary beta strike run. It didn't fail just once, but actually twice, and I lost the fight.
Wondering if it's possible to win the fight, especially on beta strike, if the hack fails? I had magnetic weapons but that's about it, since I was going to get sparks asap. However it feels it's just luck unless you wait for more upgrades like plated armor.
Does anybody else only play with Helldivers?
After I discovered the mods for this game that adds the armor and voices from HD2 I cant play without them and I was wondering what other people play with whether that be normal dudes, Halo guys, Helldivers, well endowed anime women, etc.
Man I love playing xcom 2 on my iPad or iPhone via steam link
Nothing amazing but probably my fave way to play the game so far after playing 600 hours on pc
Got one of the official/community setups (can’t remember which one) that I trimmed down to the basics and added some of my own stuff. There’s an ability wheel in the middle right there but I set RT to activate the gyro to mouse so I can tap it and tilt the device to aim grenades more delicately or quickly select stuff like setting everyone to overwatch. I use trackpad mode and the space in the right is where I drag my thumb around and tap to select. Got right click/MB2 on the bottom left so I don’t end up mis clicking
Portable xcom is so damn good and being able to stream direct from pc lets me run it at max graphics and install mods. Prefer it on my iPad for obvious reasons but it’s actually really playable on my iPhone 12 too
Had my most intense fight against the chosen assassin, legendary ironman
During the fight I honestly thought it was over, but kept fighting to the end. Somehow I still managed to win. Lost my second best spark though, it served me well
Redownloading! This game is just i need right now
Can't wait to play, and after I may try phoenix point! Games got everything im looking for!
I just had my first retaliation mission in The Long War 2. I need a hug.
I was trying to rescue the resistance pinned down in a diner. Advent came in on all sides, and the chosen hunter was there. I had 8 deaths, 2 captured, 5 wounded. It was my a-team, and not only did I lose my best men but I lost my best equipment. Even greensweater was like "Abandon the mission, get your men out of there!"
Sigh. I had the future of humanity in my hands, and I fumbled it. That's xcom, baby.
Reoccurring runs setup
A question for the players who’ve been playing for a while now, what is the agreed upon way that players should typically start their next runs after their first play through?
Early settings, should you include QOL mods, is it cheating to start with a faction unit? Etc.
Love & hate relationship with snipers.
That the snipers are absolutely batshit OP in late game is undeniable.
But XCOM 2 is a game that is the hardest in the early to mid stages of the playthrough. So yeah, snipers can take down a Gatekeeper in one turn later on, but by then, you have a lot of troops that are OP is one way or another.
In early game however, i have come to despise snipers. Unless the shot in at least 85%, dont even bother taking it, it almost a guaranteed miss. Same goes for overwatch with snipers. The only thing they are really good for in early game is triggering overwatch traps. And even then they miss half the time.
I have had wounded troops because the sniper just fucking could not hit shit no matter what. At this point, i would have just been better off with another ranger or support. The Combat Protocol is at least a guaranteed 2 damage to finish off that one Trooper that is going to shoot one of your guys on the next turn because the blind bumbfuck sniper missed him.
God damn Assassin with All Seeing
Just when i thought i might finally get to finish a Legendary Ironman playthrough, here comes the Assassin and what do you know, she has the all-seeing trait. So the traditional tactics of using a Reaper to reveal her no longer work.
First encounter with her cost me my Ranger. Second my Grenadier.
Any advice on how to deal with her without somebody getting murdered every time?
Beat my first Campaign :D, only 100 deaths...
The closest I came to giving up was after losing my entire roster during a Chosen Ship Invasion except for 1 sniper who ran around praying for the turrets to steal the win. Afterwards, I had to throw fresh faced recruits into trial by fires missions just to rebuilt the squad, after all, the aliens continue to make progress on the avatar project :)
Edit: someone mentioned the memorial and I checked, and counted a much more respectable 56 deaths. I did some digging and found this post https://www.reddit.com/r/XCOM2/comments/wpgjb2/dont_know_how_it_got_to_99_memorial_says_i_only/, so it looks like that 100 tally might include resistance allies, civilians or mind controlled units.
