Why is everything out of stock ?

X-Lab /XDS says they produce 300,000 carbon fiber bikes annually, but it seems like almost all the bikes are out of stock since a few months ago. It looks like they’re seeing sales skyrocket compared to all other manufacturers!

How do you order parts when everything is always out of stock?

New bike day! X-LAB RS7

Picked her up yesterday from Roy’s in Sheepshead Bay/Coney Island (Brooklyn, NY) and dramatically in love. I was worried I went with the wrong size at first, as I went in assuming I’d be a medium based on the X-LAB size chart.

Boris (incredible salesperson) told me they do in fact run oversized and confirmed my suspicion when I was standing next to a medium one. He suggested the small, and I was apprehensive at first. I even felt remorse when I got home and double checked the site.

But you all here in this sub are making me feel better! I felt like the medium was too large when I stood next to it, and I’m 5’8, 5’9 on a good day.

While I am a bit turned off to the smaller handlebar width and the slightly shorter wheelbase, I’m happy with my decision. And thank you all for easing my mind on my buyers remorse with the size.

My X-Lab RS5 came drastically oversized… the sizing sucks.

Ordered a size small RS5 for my wife online. She is 5’3, and the size small is for 5’2 to 5’6. It arrived. The seat post can’t go all the way to the minimum height marked on the seat post due to the bend in the frame.

DO NOT TRUST X-LAB SIZING.

This is incredibly sloppy, as they use a carbon seat post, so I can’t even shorten it.

These are rookie mistakes. You can make a great frame, but putting it all together seems to be an issue.

Now I’m on the hook for shipping this thing back. :/

RS7 Sizing question

Hi everyone, I (6’2” height and 37” inseam) am trying to get a RS7 but all the local bike shops near me (Boston) don’t have the bike in stock (and aren’t committing to if/when they will get it and not accepting reservations / deposits).

So, I am thinking of trying my luck online. The problem is I am not sure what size would fit me best. The website says I should go for a XL size frame but I want to get real life opinions.

For those who have the vehicle and are in my height range, does the XL size frame fit you well or did you end up sizing down? I am concerned with placing an order online and getting the bike only to find the size being not a fit for me.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

X-Lab Availability and Upgrades on a Budget

Hello all,

I have been saving for a while and finally have enough money to purchase my first road bike, and I am planning on buying the X-Lab RS7, as the value for money seems unmatched even in the used market. However, as many of you likely already know, these bikes are sold out almost everywhere I look. I would prefer to buy from a LBS, as I would be supporting local business along with being able to get a bike fit and try on the bike before buying, but living in a rural area there are few shops that I can get to easily. I was wondering if any of you know of when they will be back in stock for shops and/or online (even though that would be a last resort).

Additionally, I was looking at the alloy RS5 and realized that, with the deal that they're running currently, I could purchase an RS5 and a set of Elite Wheels Marvel 50D II carbon wheels for around the same price as the RS7 (by about $100). I would love for this bike to be something that I can use for a lot of group rides and longer training miles, but my ultimate goal is to join my college's cycling team and race competitively with it. That being said, do any of you have any experience with these bikes or that wheel set, and if so, would I end up being better off with the alloy frame and aftermarket wheels. I do love the feeling of a responsive bike (when I tried them I liked the Trek Madone much better than a Domane), so do you think that the nicer carbon wheels will be enough of a difference to make the RS5 feel like a racier RS7?

Thank you all in advance, and if you have any other recommendations (my budget for everything is hopefully under $2500, and that includes shoes/pedals, computer if able, etc...) that would do me a little better than what I am currently considering I will be happy to hear them, I am fairly new to the sport and am excited to learn all that I can.

Thanks again!

Gt8 as first bike?

Hello peeps,

Signed up on a waiting list at my lbs for a gt8. They should be getting it in about 2 weeks.

Do you guys think it’s too much of a bike for a newbie just getting into biking at 38. Haven’t rode a bike in like 20 years.

What I’ll ride: I honestly have no idea right now bc haven’t really biked to know but my main purpose is to get in shape. I’m thinking will start mainly riding in road (hilly area) and progress into gravel.

Concern:

  1. Bike geometry being race oriented. Will it be uncomfortable on long 40mile rides? Back pain?
  2. Carbon as a first bike. Would that be hard to maintain?
  3. Is di2 as a newbie easy to figure out?
