Is it safe to get Dev mode on XSS, and is it worth it?
Hey y'all, is it safe? And is it worth it or not? Will my xbox or account get banned?
Ship of Harkinian FPS drop?
Does anyone have this problem?
Ship of harkinian's fps goes lower the more I play. I go from 60 to 20-30 and it's not gonna get back up until I restart the game
Does it need to be SSD or can it be HDD?
Hey all! Been emulating very casually for a bit now on a 64gb USB I have but recently have really been feeling like I need to up the storage since I’m running out of space for games!
That being said money is tighter so while doing my research and trying to avoid scams I have found HDDs are a lot more affordable than SSDs but when I see people emulating they always speak of SSDs.
Are SSDs required? Forgive me I’m not very good with the difference between drives and such.
For additional info: My intentions are emulating PS2, WII/gamecube, PS1.
Dusklight UWP 1.1.1
Dusklight UWP 1.1.1 is now available.
This update changes the package name to Dusklight, so it will install as a separate application from previous versions. Existing users will need to manually move their data from the old app’s LocalAppData (LocalState) folder to the new app.
After migrating your data, you can use the new Change Data Folder option to store content wherever you want.
Changes:
- Added custom file dialogs
- Allows games and content to be loaded directly from internal storage
- Updated to Dusklight 1.1.1
Release: Dusklight UWP 1.1.1 Release
If you run into issues, please open an issue on GitHub or make a post here.
[Guide] How to use texture replacement packs with Dusklight on Xbox Series consoles.
Updated my guide to reflect the latest UWP v1.1.1.0 version.
CHOOSE YOUR PACK
It's recommended to use DDS format textures. Starting with Dusklight v1.1.1, it can now use PNG format textures, but the Dusklight devs don't recommend it. Look inside the folders of the pack you want to use, check to see if the textures are DDS or PNG files, and decide for yourself if you should use it. I recommend DDS format. The texture pack must be in DDS format on the older versions of Dusklight/Dusk.
How the pack should look, is that there should be a GZ2 folder, and inside that there should be other folders called things like CREATURE, ENVIRONMENT, LINK, NPC, etc.
Once you have picked your texture pack, you have two options on where to store it. The first is on the internal storage on the Xbox. The second is on an external USB storage. If you are using an older version of Dusklight from before v1.1.1, you can only use the internal AppData storage. Decide where you want to store the textures. I recommend the external storage.
EXTERNAL STORAGE
After installing the Dusklight launcher to your Xbox, launch it on Xbox. In the settings, change the location of the Data Folder. By default, the first USB external storage plugged in on Dev Mode is given drive letter E. It might be a letter further along the alphabet if you have multiple external drives plugged in. Select the correct drive, and choose the folder you want to use as Dusklight's Data Folder.
I've heard you might only be able to select an empty folder to use. If it won't let you choose a folder with stuff already inside it, then you must make a new empty folder on the storage and then choose it. You can put any stuff back in after.
After choosing the new Data Folder, Dusklight will prompt you to restart, and it will populate the folder with Dusklight's files, including a "texture_replacements" folder. Put the whole GZ2 folder inside the texture_replacements folder. If you did everything correctly, then the textures should load automatically.
INTERNAL STORAGE
Install and launch Dusklight On your Xbox at least once before you begin. This will generate the app files at the default location.
By default, Dusklight's Data Folder is located in the AppData. Using the same method described above, you can change the location of the Data Folder to a new one located on the internal D drive. Otherwise, you will need to use the default AppData location, which can be accessed with the File Explorer on the Device Portal.
In the File Explorer, choose LocalAppData, then enter the app folder for Dusklight. Enter the LocalState folder, the TwilitRealm folder, the Dusklight folder, and into the texture_replacements folder. The whole GZ2 folder must be uploaded to the texture_replacements folder. I don't recommend uploading each individual file one at a time because that could take hours. I also don't recommend uploading the whole folder at once because there's a chance the upload could hang forever.
What I did was I made a new folder called GZ2 inside the texture_replacements folder and entered it. Then I zipped each of the other folders such as CREATURE, ENVIRONMENT, LINK, NPC, etc into Zip files, and uploaded each of them individually, choosing to extract the contents of the Zip file into the directory each time when prompted. It still takes a while to upload everything. After you do that, and you did it all right, the game should load the textures automatically.
What's the best way to get authentic CRT effect on XBSX2? On 50 inch FullHD tv
I want to play the original GTA Trilogy, as I've never played them. Want to play them as they were intended, so with retro CRT look. I installed XBSX2 on my Series X but the shaders are not very good in my opinion. Best pre-installed shaders are Triangular or LottesCRT imo but the tint is too greenish. Other shaders such as Overscan lines are hardly even visible on my tv.
What's the best way to get that OG CRT look? I'm playing on a 50 inch Full HD tv. Can I adjust the built-in shaders or can I install new ones somehow? I believe on PCSX2 you can do this. Or any other options to achieve this look would be highly appreciated. Can't find much info about this topic on XBSX2.
Picture for vibes. Not my photo.

[Guide] How to use texture replacement packs with Dusk on Xbox One/Series consoles.
The texture pack must be in DDS format. Apparently, PNG format doesn't work according to the official Dusk website. Look inside the folders of the pack you want to use and see if the textures are DDS files. If they are PNG files, you must find another version that is DDS or another pack that is.
Once you have your texture pack, you should see a folder inside called GZ2, and inside there you should see folders called things like CREATURE, ENVIRONMENT, LINK, NPC, etc. That whole GZ2 folder must be placed in the AppData for Dusk on the internal storage of the Xbox. You can access that through the Device Portal by the File Explorer.
Go to the File Explorer on the Device Portal, choose the LocalAppData folder, choose the Dusk app folder, choose the LocalState folder, navigate through the TwilitRealm folder, Dusk folder, and into the texture_replacements folder.
The whole GZ2 folder must be placed into the texture_replacements folder.
Mouse Support
Hey good people. I’m thinking about doing some light gun shooter emulation but I’d like to use a mouse as my pointer and buttons instead of the gamepad joystick and buttons. Can anybody tell which emulators support this, if any? Thanks!
How do I make an emulator UWP port?
I don't know anything about coding, and wanted to learn it, since I wanted to port emulators/game ports to UWP, but I don't know where to start. My main question is: how am I supposed to do it? Do I need to translate the source code to UWP, or is it something else?
P.S.: I will not use ANY LLM to make my code, so don't recommend it to me. Fuck Generative AI.
I’ve successfully gotten ares-emu booting on UWP :)
This has been something I’ve been actively working on behind the scenes for a bit now, and I’m finally at a point where I can start sharing progress on it. Alongside the UWP work, this also includes my work-in-progress Direct3D 12 renderer, which is currently being integrated and tested as part of the project.
There’s still more work to do before everything is ready for a public release, but things are progressing well and I’m hoping to have something available soon. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on what I’ve been working on lately.
Hey guys is anyone having issues with the Dolphin Emulator? I had just recently updated to the latest version that’s out and it won’t even boot up. It’s like when I click on the dolphin app, it’ll crash and take me back to the Dev Menu. Is there a work around that can fix this or is this something that can’t be fixed at the moment?
Hello! Does anyone know if it's possible to install Majora's Mask Recomp on the internal storage, just like Star Fox 64?
