Netherlands FSD Drive Raises Questions

Larry Evans, journalist at CleanTechnica, wrote an article about my testdrives with XPENG VLA 2.0 (which he did too) and FSD of Tesla. A good analysis and a clear story. Funny are the reactions of mainly American readers in the comments of the article😀.
BTW Larry picked the picture…
BTW I can recommend to subscribe to their newsletter. A lot of news about technical innovation and developments.

Xpeng L03 Global specs…

Pretty sure I’m not the only one who was being very excited for the launching of global version Xpeng L03 . However after the global specs revealed in Thailand, I realised ONLY Long Range ULTRA is getting Turing chips. Then the others will only get “Front-View Integrated machine” like this G6 standard range.

No wonder I see many comments about the launching of L03 is the sales booster for G6 , what do you think ?

Xpeng G6 Audio system 🎵🔊

Question about the G6 audio system 🎵🔊

Has anyone here found a good equalizer setup to get the best possible sound out of the XPeng G6?

Honestly, I find the sound system in my G6 quite disappointing compared with Hyundai or Kia. It sounds flat, lacks bass, and doesn’t have much depth.

I’ve played around with the EQ and different sound modes, but I still haven’t managed to get it sounding really good.

Does anyone have a good EQ + sound mode + spatial sound setup they could share?

I’d love to try your settings! 😊

XPeng’s L03 range makes perfect sense—until you want VLA 2.0

I really like the L03, but XPeng’s European trim strategy feels backwards:

  • RWD Long Range, 18″: 520 km WLTP
  • RWD Long Range Ultra, 20″: 480 km — currently France only
  • AWD Performance Ultra, 20″: 440 km

The Ultra package is not merely cosmetic. It brings two XPENG Turing AI chips, an expanded camera and sensor suite, and the hardware intended to run XPENG NGP based on VLA 2.0, including Urban and Highway NGP. European activation is currently planned for Q1 2027.

Ultra also adds the upgraded XOPERA audio system with active road-noise cancellation and front massage seats.

France therefore proves that the Ultra/VLA 2.0 hardware can be paired with the efficient rear-wheel-drive powertrain. But XPeng still forces 20″ wheels onto that version, reducing its official range from 520 to 480 km.

Admittedly, not all 40 km can automatically be blamed on the wheels: the Ultra equipment adds approximately 40 kg. But the 20″ package is the obvious avoidable penalty.

In Belgium, anyone wanting the VLA 2.0 hardware is pushed all the way into the AWD Performance Ultra. That means 440 km WLTP, a 44-litre frunk instead of 89 litres, and 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds—performance that many European buyers may value less than another 40–80 km of range.

The missing configuration seems obvious:

RWD Long Range Ultra + 18″ wheels

It would combine VLA 2.0 hardware and the complete Ultra interior with the more efficient drivetrain, higher-profile tyres and larger frunk. Its exact WLTP range is unknown, but it should presumably recover much of the gap toward 520 km.

Maybe XPeng assumes that the flagship specification must automatically mean AWD and the largest wheels. But how many European EV buyers would rather have 4.5-second acceleration than substantially more range, better ride comfort and cheaper tyres?

Which would you actually choose?

  1. 520-km RWD Long Range without the Turing/VLA 2.0 hardware
  2. 480-km RWD Long Range Ultra on 20″ wheels
  3. 440-km AWD Performance Ultra
  4. The unavailable RWD Long Range Ultra on 18″ wheels

Part 2 of my test FSD vs VLA2.0 Who is the winner??

Once again, I mainly looked at how FSD Supervised actually behaves on Dutch roads — including roads without a center line!

The Netherlands was the first country in Europe where Tesla received approval. I wanted to compare FSD with XPENG’s VLA, which I tested in China.

And there were a few interesting surprises — not all of them in the way I expected beforehand.

Curious to hear what you think!

Updated G6 Long Range

My company ordered a G6 Long Range for me, estimated delivery is end of September.
I just kinda clicked around in the configurator and to my surprise, the Long Range now has 20" wheels included, instead of a payed option.
Any insight on if it is possible to change the order or if it will come standard anyway, since the cars are pre-specced? Premium seats are standard as well, only option available and chosen by me is the tow hook.

1st year maintenance help needed! North of France

Hi peeps, anyone can recommend a good value and relable service centre in the north of france? My 2025 G6 1st year maintenance is coming up end of August, and I can't seem to find anyone around my vicinity that has good experience with EVs especially when it is not an European brand per say.

Thanks in advance!

Sharing my Xpeng G6 channel - Electric Carboy

Hi everyone! I started making some online content related to Xpeng.

I noticed there isn't a lot of info worldwide about Xpeng yet, especially for those who are looking for alternatives to more popular brands like Tesla.

I came from a Tesla Model 3 and my reviews and videos have a heavy focus in comparing Xpeng and Tesla according to my daily experience.

I also cover features and details you may not know about the car. I've already covered why I decided to go with Xpeng instead of Tesla and some of the car features like the newly added One pedal driving.

The next video will be about comparing the G6 trims, but intend to cover broader aspects about EVs in general as well.

If you're interested in following I do longer in depth videos on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@electriccarboypt

I also do shorter videos and photo reviews on Instagram and Tiktok:

Happy rides!

Xpeng GX in GCC

I am considering ordering Xpeng GX in GCC. The spec sheet says it has Turing chip, but does not confirm, does it have one or four chips. I would like to get a car that is VLA 2.0 compatible with OTA update.

I understand some Chinese models have 3-4 Turing chips while the European ones only have one Turing chips, i.e. they can be never achieve FSD. Does any body have any idea on this?

Winter wheels on G9 perf

Hello,

I own a Xpeng G9 Performance V1 (551 hp, AWD). It comes stock with 21-inch wheels (255/45 R21).
I’m looking to invest in a complete winter wheel set, and I came across a listing for genuine Xpeng G9 wheels in 19 inches fitted with Pirelli Scorpion tires (photo attached). My manufacturer’s tire placard (driver’s door) does approve 255/55 R19 for my vehicle, so the size seems compatible on paper.

Has anyone actually tried this 21” → 19” downgrade on a G9 Performance specifically? I’m mainly wondering about:
• Brake caliper clearance
• Any rubbing or abnormal play when turning
• Ride/handling behavior with this narrower setup

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

G6 Any problems without wifi?

We’re considering getting a G6 LR for a family car. But we live in an apartment with an underground car park that has absolutely zero cell reception and no wifi. Will there be any issues with unlocking the car, and the car logging into the right profile, and functioning with zero wifi during startup?

Lower anchor strap child seat on Xpeng g6

Hi,

Anyone knows if you can fasten a child seat with a lower anchor strap on the Xpeng g6? Is there an anchor point or can you fasten it in the car seat rails safely?

Downsizing from 20” to 18” ? EV (Xpeng)

I’m looking at the G6 Long Range which comes stock with 20” rims, but I’m considering downsizing to 18” for better ride comfort, range, and cheaper tire replacements.

If you’ve swapped to 18s on your G6:

  1. Did you notice a significant improvement in ride comfort over bumps?

  2. What real-world range boost did you get?

  3. Did you go with OEM 18s or aftermarket flow-formed rims? Any issue with brake/caliper clearance?

Thanks in advance for ur comment ! 🤝

Remarks: Xpeng in my country doesn’t offer selection, strictly 18 for standards range and 20 for LR
