Honest review/opinion

Just finished the whole series. Still hungover with the plot. Loved all the characters and the plot. Loved the fact that Felice and Sara are still friends with all the clarity. Feeling bad for August tho, hated him in the first two seasons but idk started to have sympathy for him in season 3. Well, Wilhelm leaving the throne still feels a little weird and unnecessary. Don't judge me but I feel Simon was a bit selfish and never tried to understand Wille's situation as a Crown prince. Overall I loved it, cried a lot but loved all the sub plots.

Should I watch season 2

Hey guys, I just finished season 1. What should I expect from other seasons. I mean, is it a good ending or should I watch with tissues on my hand. Please tell me i don't want a traumatizing climax.

More Kaggeholms Slott photos: can anyone place these rooms?

I'm trying to work out which Kaggelholms Slott spaces appeared in Young Royals. Do any of these look familiar? I'd love help identifying scenes/rooms.

The little Stones with the fish names were in the bus stop.

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t think the abdication arc is a real ending

This is gonna sound very pessimistic but I never saw it as a realistic or even definitive ending for the characters. Wilhelm is still a minor meaning there is no way he can officially abdicate at this point. Besides having the first openly queer prince abdicate this soon will be pretty bad PR for the royal family even if he insists it was entirely his decision.
Like Farima mentioned Wilhelm coming out was a great opportunity for them and having being overtaken by a random cousin would not be a great look. With the way the royal court interacted with August I thought it was clear they only saw him as a last resort.

Also the royal family in the show has barely any people since the closest after Wilhelm was his second cousin. So realistically they would still need a spare(which was initially Wilhelm’s role) to be there. I really do not see them just letting Wilhelm go. The show mentioned so many times how the royal court had crazy power to fuck people over I don’t see them letting go of Wilhelm. So in some way or the other Wilhelm will have to work as a royal probably under August if he manages to abdicate.

Plus Wilhelm’s relationship with Simon suffered mostly cause of the public scrutiny they were subject to which will only get worse if he were to abdicate. So mostly what I think is it was a nice fairytale ending with the school closing and Wilmon being freed from the monarchy but I don’t think it aligns well with the overall realistic and raw vibe of the show.

Fun fact but the real life Hillerska in Sweden was also allowed to operate soon after it was exposed for the type of stuff that we see in the show. This only furthers my belief that the ending was deliberately hopeful and showed a rosy version of what life could be for the characters instead of what is realistic. And I usually don’t have an issue with idealistic endings but I always loved YR for how things were shown to be realistic and the ending just didn’t have that.

Wrote my first fanfic. Please show some love!!(sorry for the self promotion)

https://archiveofourown.org/works/87375801/chapters/231457141

Summary-
Hillerska gets to reopen a few months after the s3e6 , giving Wilmon the chance to be together in peace. However, one evening with Marcus triggers past insecurities stirring up some angst for both Wille and Simon.
OR
Sara is at the risk of being kicked out of school and her help squad could not have been a worse combination of people.

Just noticed something cool

Just recently finished this show and I just noticed how in s1e5, when Wille sees Simon's room for the first time he immediately says 'cozy'. Then, in s3e1, Simon sees Wilhelm's room for the first time an says the exact same thing. Thought that was pretty cool.

Has anyone else noticed this or something similar? :)

YR/Heartstopper Similarities

Yes I made another parallel post recently, I also just wanted to mention this one: In the fish scene, Wilhelm puts his head on Simon's shoulder, which reminded me so much of the hotel scene in Heartstopper where Nick puts his head on Charlie's shoulder (cause he's 'recharging') and I thought it was really cute :)

(not to mention what happens in that scene both includes wilhelm/nick kissing the other's neck and the similar posing of their arms around simon/charlie's waist) are there any other YR/Heartstopper similarities I missed?

^(is putting these pictures copyright? it's fine under the fair use law right?)

Wille’s cross necklace

I noticed he wore a cross in season 1 but never after that. Pretty minor detail but I wonder if it’s meant to indicate a loss in faith. Or maybe just him discarding everything related to Simon since the necklace was visible in the video

i love this show so much :(

this is genuinely the best show ive ever watched
:( the actors, the storyline, the scenery, the everything!!! i love it so much and i cant even express my love enough for it in words!! the way it displays and conveys drama and the feelings people go through as a teenager is so real, it never feels forced. it feels so raw, so personal, like i actually know the characters. i loved seeing them grow and become the person they want to be. im so glad i checked out this show :) i hope more and more people discover it and love it as much as i do ♡ btw, this scene completely broke me (also one of my fav scenes hehe) if you’re curious its the scene where willie says “simon, i dont get it.” “how can we be broken up?”
