Small update and Gratitude...

Just a small update and some gratitude for this group (as today is Canadian Thanksgiving) -

So, it's been almost a year since I had my HM with dor fundo and the things I noticed that bothered me the most was what I thought were Tylenol, and medications like anti-biotics. Some people suggested if I need it next time try liquid form.

Well 2 weeks ago woke up sick to a cold - bought the liquid Dayquil/Nyquil and it certainly helped.

Then I developed a secondary bacterial infection- got put on Amoxi - my doctor knowing my history prescribed me the liquid antibiotics as per my request (I got to get bubblegum flavour it's yummy).

I'm on day 6 today - so 5 days and I only had one gastro attack where it felt like the gas was building up and getting stuck. Took my Famatoudine, popped a Zofran on the tongue and I've been good to go. Just in case other people have the same problem.

(Took me and my remote nurse a good 2 to 3 weeks post op to figure out my continous heart burn issues was caused by the Tylenol)

Also grateful there will be a roasted chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes and carrots in my near future that will stay down with the help of Coke 0!!

(Also a tip from my Achalasia group)

Achalasia type 2 with normal IRP

I’ve been lurking here since my gastroenterologist suggested that achalasia might be the issue I’m facing. I’m curious to know if anyone has been informed about the condition mentioned in the title before. They requested that my gastroenterologist compare my barium swallow and manometry to determine if it’s type two achalasia, as it’s unusual to have a normal IRM. By the way, most of my pictures looked like this (this is my photo and I failed every swallow). I’m simply exhausted with the constant back-and-forth. This has been ongoing for years, and it’s disheartening.

A few questions prior to seeing the surgeon.

Hi, I have been lurking here after an Endo Flip & manometry led to this diagnosis. I haven’t been told anything about it. My gastroenterologist called with the results and just said I would be going to see a thoracic surgeon, tomorrow.

A lot of symptoms that I’ve read about on here I don’t really have. When you all mention that you have to throw up, is that like when you have a stomach bug, and you know you better run to the restroom? I do not throw up, unless food has been stuck in my esophagus, and isn’t going down or up on its own, and I make myself throw up to get it out. I’ve had my esophagus dilated multiple times over the last 20 years, and I have severe GERD, and regurgitation. But I do not have any of the spasms that I’ve been reading about here. Just terrible pain in my chest and my back if my food gets stuck. I have actually gained 20 pounds in the last few months because my diet has been mainly ice cream, jello, pudding and soup.

So before I see this surgeon, is it possible that I was misdiagnosed, or is that Endo Flip and manometry pretty accurate? Are there any questions that I should ask that I’m not thinking about?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you so much!

Esophageal spasm and heart attacks

Lately I've been kind of anxious about being able to recognize wether the pain I feel is a spasm or a heart attack. I worry that at some point when I'm older I'll shrug off a heart attack as a spasm, while needing medical attention.

People who have experienced both, is there a very clear difference, and when it happens will you know it's one or the other? Not every spasm feels the same either, there's light ones and last night I had one so bad it left me dizzy/nauseous and feeling like I'd faint.

Looking for anyone with MS, Achalasia, and urinary retention from neurogenic bladder 🧡

I’m looking for someone who has all 3 like me. I’m having a hard time with terrible spasms in my esophagus and stomach. They’re like events. I get shaky and then down for the count for 3 days. I am not supposed to take these meds and should have never been prescribed them as it makes my retention worse. I’m trying to find a solution to get ahead of these attacks but no doctors seem to know how to help me. Thanks for taking the time to read. You’re all warriors 🧡🧡

Acid reflux

For those who experienced acid reflux and chest pain after POEM surgery, was it temporary or Or did it remain the same intensity over time?
