What am I doing wrong? (ADT blu)

I can’t get the Google Home to talk with my ADT system. When I look at the connected apps, it shows it as connected, but in my home app I don’t see my ADT system showing up.

Plus I get the very vague and useless message that reads “something went wrong” after entering my credentials.

I just want to be able to program this system so that I can have it verbally announce which door is opened via the Nest Hub, my wife is extremely particular about that feature - otherwise I’m going to have to pack all this stuff up and send it right back. Just a tad bit frustrated.

AVOID

Just had service installed. Cut my other cameras forcing me to buy new ones, damaged my siding (cracks and chips/breaks), used 0 sealant, missed placing a sensor, misplaced a sensor that broke on day 1 already (wrong size), put the panel on without filling the old holes and put it on low and crooked with the open holes sitting unevenly above. Spent over 5 hours on the phone and got no where. Only got a reply once I left a review. Then the email chain was pretty terrible but at least led to someone coming out to document on the issues. They damaged and threw out my own property. And most importantly forged a signature. Absolutely terrible installation and absolutely terrible customer service.

Camera user access

I have a nosy mother-in-law that will not stop watching cameras and evesdropping on my husband and I through them. Is there anyway to pause access for a specific user or temporarily disable the cameras? I've already turned the microphone off on one but hasn't helped.

Where is the box???

For context, we just bought this house a month ago. We use Blink and want to get rid of the ever loving nightmare that is the random beeping ADT panel. I saw online that it’s plugged into a little box so I detached the panel and apparently the previous owners had smashed a hole in the wall to plug it in behind the wall but I don’t know where this chord goes!! I checked the attic and idk what to do anymore. Should I plug it back in??

Ghost Devices

In 2022 I had ADT installed on all doors and windows, including cameras and the smoke detectors. I used a wall panel and the ADT Control app. Everything was synced to my Google Home account. I was the only operator of the system and apps.

In 2025 I moved. I brought along what I could and had it reinstalled fine. These products are not any issue. I have a cylinder thing for ADT+ and all new window and door sensors, alongside cameras. I did not set up a new Google Home when I moved because I have so many products. Instead we kept the same wifi info and called it a day. Everything transferred fine.

However, the previous products didn't disappear when we unlinked ADT Control from Google Home. It says I don't have permission to disconnect the two systems. I can't access the ADT Control app anymore because the account is turned off through ADT. Like I cannot log in at all. So I can't even pretend and then unlink. As a result I have about 30 ghost devices on my current system that can't be deleted, unlinked, or moved to a ghost home.

Any ideas on how to remove them? It's not horribly inconvenient, just unsightly in my app and displays. Very cluttered.

ADT holding qolsys panel I have

Title: ADT won’t release prior Alarm.com account — Qolsys IQ Panel 2 basically held hostage. How do I move my Z-Wave devices to a new IQ Panel 4?

Hey everyone,

I recently moved into a house that has a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 installed from the prior homeowner. The panel appears to still be tied to the previous homeowner’s ADT / Alarm.com account, and ADT has been extremely difficult about deleting or releasing the old Alarm.com registration.

I have the 4-digit admin/master code, so I can get into some basic settings, but I do not have the installer or dealer code. Because of that, I can’t access the installer settings, and the installation button is not available in advanced settings. I’m assuming the panel is locked down because it’s still attached to the prior Alarm.com account.

The annoying part is that my Z-Wave devices are still connected to this old Qolsys panel, including:

  • Thermostats
  • Light switches
  • Garage door opener
  • Other smart home/Z-Wave devices

Since I don’t have installer/dealer access, I can’t put the IQ Panel 2 into Z-Wave exclusion mode to remove those devices properly.

At this point, I’m considering just buying an IQ Panel 4 from eBay and starting fresh, but I’m trying to understand how I would transfer or re-pair everything.

My questions:

  1. If I can’t put the old IQ Panel 2 into exclusion mode, can I use the new IQ Panel 4 to exclude/reset the Z-Wave devices?
  2. Do Z-Wave thermostats, switches, and garage openers need to be excluded from the old panel first, or can they be factory reset individually?
  3. Is there a risk that the new IQ Panel 4 from eBay could also be locked to someone else’s Alarm.com account?
  4. Has anyone successfully gotten ADT to release/delete a prior Alarm.com account from a panel they inherited with a house?

I’m not trying to get into anything I shouldn’t. I own the home, I have the admin code, and I just want to use the existing Z-Wave devices with my own alarm/home automation provider. Right now it feels like ADT is holding the hardware hostage.

Any advice from people who have dealt with Qolsys, ADT, Alarm.com, Surety, or Z-Wave exclusion would be appreciated. I'm close to just saying screw it and just go with ADT, theyre offering $40 a month, and this has all been such a headache.

New WiFi, Need help

I switched from AT&T WiFi to Verizon WiFi. Now my outdoor camera, doorbell and garage door will not work. I’ve reached out to ADT support but all they send are bullsh*t directions that don’t help. They also claim they can’t voice call me and can only chat in the app for support. I’m losing my mind! Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Google Nest Transformer

I snapped a prong off of the Google Best camera power transformer. Tech support said they can either sell me a new camera or they can send a tech out and I pay labor. Is there anywhere I can get a replacement power transformer instead? I’ve looked online, and I haven’t been able to find what I have.

What is your honest opinions on ADT customer support?

I've only had to call them once and that was for something simple. Knock-on-wood.
