SafeWatch Pro 3000: Windows and Door Sensors

We recently had all of our windows replaced and the existing hardwired sensors will no longer work, so we’re looking to replace them. It looks like a wireless option would be the easiest, and since I don’t really want to drill holes in our new windows, something surface mount.

We called ADT and the gave us a quote for 10x 5818MNL which are recessed, so we’ll likely want to go with a 5800 series or the like. The quote was like $625 installed.

Is there a better option?

Federal Syntech | American Eagle .40 S&W 205gr TSJ

Has anybody had any luck with Federal American Eagle .40 S&W 205gr TSJ ammo?

I shot a box of this stuff when it first came out about 8 years ago and couldn’t get it to stabilize at 25 yards with my Glock 35 (5” barrel).

I recently picked some up again and decided to give it another try. This time I tested it out of a Glock 24C (6” barrel), but I’m still seeing the same problem. I shot 5-shot groups at 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards. It seems like stabilization starts to fall apart between 10 and 15 yards. Some shots still hit where I’m aiming (POA = POI), but I’m also getting big flyers high or low on the target, along with tumblers landing in the same areas.

As a control at the end I ran the same exercise with some Aguila .40 S&W 180gr FMJ and as you can see in the last photo all the shots stayed true.

Electric Motor Oil Change?

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZn_rppkbb_/?igsh=ZzNqc3NheWtweGp3

Is this a thing?

When I owned a manual BMW years ago, the transmission came filled with what BMW called “lifetime” oil. If you asked the dealer, they’d typically say a “lifetime” was around 60,000–100,000 miles. I decided to change it anyway. The old fluid was mostly red but had darkened and showed some black streaks. The car shifted noticeably better afterward.

I searched and saw a post from someone here who changed theirs at 100,000 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone Labs. The analysis showed the fluid still had decent lubricating properties, though it contained some metal shavings (not surprising after that mileage).

So, is there any established or formal change interval for this “lifetime” fluid?

Found: The Elusive Chicken Strips

I was on a roadtrip this past weekend and came across a Costco that was selling / serving the elusive chicken strips in the food court.

So, I’m not a huge Cainiac or anything so to me the sauce was close enough. You get five tenders for $7 and it’s like two meals they’re so big.
