Help getting the food mutation link

Hello, I’m having trouble to get the neurons associated to eating different food. I’ve skipped a couple generations and already evolved about 2 times. I’ve tried eating a ton of mushrooms and meat and used methods like drinking water to cure the side affects but no luck. Some of my clan members have gotten the food mutation but nothing has happened yet. Any recommendations on what to do or do get the neuron to be able to eat more than just khat and fruit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Problem with dodge and counterattack

Hey everyone recently I bought ancestors and started playing like 3 days ago and the game is juste perfect and i got used to the mechanics dodging /attacking and I've killed like 2 green mamba 1 african Boa and one sabers teeth tiger the only problem is when I'm traveling with my clan I've got attacked by a crocodile and i don’t understand why when he attacked me i didn't hear the usually sound cue that goes like "ting" to release the x button and this freaking crocodile killed tree of my clan member because of that and i didn't even kill him we ran away and every time that i travel with the clan it happens i don’t hear the sound + the crocodile keep grabbing me unsted of damaging me and get back a second so if anyone can help please.

Why does it end so soon? Disappointed.

Im about 7 million years into the game, and its become clear from the game progression that we arent actually going to evolve anywhere near to a human by the end of the game.

I was kind of hoping that the endgame would involve a significant upstep in tech, i.e being able to actually knapp proper, better stone hand axes and such, or being able to knapp points to fix to a stick to make an obsidian pointed spear, or being able to make bows or even throw spears, or even being able to make fire or build huts or grow plants by the end of the game and its become clear none of that will happen which has left me a bit disappointed. The fact that a sharp stick is the best weapon all the way through the game is kinda silly

I was under the impression the game would cover the transition from ape to hominin to human but it just goes from ape to hominin. This feels like a massive miss to me - the game is great, i love how it forces you to play to your strengths in the begining, use the trees etc and love how it makes you change your gameplay as you move into new areas and develop new skills. And i love how it almost feels like several different games in one as you move from jungle animal to savannah hunter.

But it just feels so cut short, im not even finished yet and i have no desire to go to 10mil because it seems i barely have anything left to unlock. I feel like there should be a final, tribal stage where you can finally have bigger groups (not being able to have more than 12 apes is a terrible decision. Reward me for succeding by allowing my tribe to grow pls) and can build huts and actually make a little village

Whats your guys opinion on this? Do you think the game feels complete? I have enjoyed the process very much but feel a bit like ive had the wind sucked out from under me by the endgame because none of the things i was looking forward to are apparently in the game.

Also whats the point of the throw command? It doesnt seem useful for anything at all. Throwing rocks doesnt even seem to scare animals let alone hurt them. And throwing spears is not a thing. Just seems like a pointless option

Also, what is the point in stick barriers other than aesthetics?

TIL - Meteorites

Today I learned that meteorite sites work even if you find them in a much later evolution when they are not smoking. I had also learned recently (I hadn't read the queues when I first discovered meteorites) that only babies without a genetic mutation will gain one at the meteorite site (but all babies would gain an extra reinforcement).

Last night my tribe was in the penultimate evolution and I was working very deliberately on specific neurons in the Savanna, and I stumbled on a meteorite site. I picked up all the kids without mutations (it would have worked fine withe the whole tribe) and, blammo--mutations! I did one more generation to mature the mutations, then evolved to Homo Egaster. So satisfying! I love this game! I do wish you could keep playing as Egaster though.

Now I started a new playthrough, solo, with minimal HUD. I randomly landed in the Savanna. It is terrifying! But thrilling! I am dying, a lot, and reloading my save.

Does anyone know the list of Jungle areas? I'm hoping to find all those areas before progressing to much further. Thanks in advance.
