Animekai replacement for Aniyomi/Animetail

Hello everyone,

I used Animekai as an extension on Animetail for downloading/watching anime offline on my phone. My setup was pretty simple: usually 360p to save storage, English dub when available, and soft subtitles.

Ever since Animekai stopped working, I haven’t really found a good replacement with the same level of usability and metadata quality. I already checked some recent posts here, but none of the suggestions fully matched what I’m looking for.

What I need in an extension are:

  1. 360p playback/download support

  2. English dub with soft subs

  3. Accurate episode timestamps

  4. High quality cover art + metadata like Animepahe (coverarts are optional since I can do it manually too)

  5. Clear labels for sub/dub/dubbed-with-subs next to the episodes (also kinda optional, but really useful)

If anyone knows an extension that comes close to this, I’d appreciate the help. Not just me but you'll also be helping others who have the same requests. If you can’t mention it publicly, feel free to DM me instead.

Thanks.

[Aniyomi] I can't download contents on the app

I've been having this problem the past few days where i can't download any content from the app, tried removing and adding extensions again, tried uninstalling and setting up again and still doesn't work, am i missing something?

There are a lot of sites out there, but I noticed that Animepahe is the only one with this quality of HD posters. 👀

I'm lost betwen all the manga app

I'm overwhelmed by all the manga-reading apps out there (Mihon, Aniyomi, Mangayomi...) with so many different works.

Can you help me figure out which app is the best to use?

I’m mainly interested in reading manga, but I wouldn’t mind if it also let me watch anime. And I’d like it to be compatible with as many French-language sources as possible.

Believe I found the best AnimeKai replacement so far

I watch anime on a 4k ultrawide monitor, with kai had to use extensions to force the aspect ratio. So I went searching for one with native support.

I've been using it for a couple months now, since Kai started having alot of issues a while ago. I feel I've used it enough at this point to suggest it to others(and hopefully grow the userbase so im not alone in the comments)

Somehow, it seems this site is very unknown. Atleast, the comment section is still relatively inactive compared to how Kai was. I want my comment-community back lol

I won't link it directly bc I don't want to get in trouble here but its just anime.nexus

FEATURES (from what I noted down)

  • comment section
  • bookmarking / profiles / lists / collections / usual account stuffs
  • anime release schedule (like kai had)
  • latest episodes' section
  • Discovery Section + Randomize option to find something at random
  • Absurd amount of in-player QoL features
    • 4k upscaler
    • screen fill / aspect ratio options (cover / fit / fill)
    • video filters
    • fullscreen modes
    • auto-fullscreen toggle
    • quality / speed
    • color depth options
    • audio language options
    • volume boost
    • subtitle options
    • episode list
    • MOST IMPORTANTLY : DOZENS OF SERVER OPTIONS FOR EACH SHOW AND EPISODE

so far no late episodes, no messed up subtitles or downed servers

Hope this is helpful to those thinking of posting asking for an alternative lol. (only 5000 of those per day right now)

[Aniyomi] Showing HTTP error 404!

(aniyomi) app is showing http error 404 whenever i try to download or watch anime. There was no problem yesterday. I'm currently downloading from animepahe source from yuzuno extension, the problem doesn't seem to be just in animepahe. I tried with some other sources like aniwatch, hianime, 9animetv. Everything shows the same. i can download and watch when i try to download using the source Torrentio but the file size for 1 episode is 4-5 gb. I tried removing the extension and adding it back, still nothing changed, i tried changing app dns to cloudflare, tried VPN and no change whatsoever.

[Mega Post] Subreddit Announcement, Please Read!

Thank You!

https://preview.redd.it/0j9rmyh3j82h1.jpg?width=734&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=763a15d6e2147774d354a7fcbab93866d26447f0

I want to start off saying THANK YOU, to everyone, in the past month this sub has grown massively, and we have just reached 300k weekly visitors, something I couldn't even imagine happening before. As the sub grows, we want to ensure that everything is going accordingly with the increased number of activity, I come today to announce a few things and changes that should be important to know, so bear with me.

Repetitive Posts

https://preview.redd.it/d1uwf816j82h1.png?width=809&format=png&auto=webp&s=f30d2dfd3dcda9e814e4e7e08b09de51f78beb62

A lot of people have been mindlessly posting and asking for sites and apps, but none of them ever bother searching the previous posts to see if their question has been answered before, and it is annoying some users here. From now on, next to the subreddit name, you will see a little icon, clicking it will show you some links that might prove helpful for your needs, so please, unless you have a specific situation or requirement for what you want, stop asking for sites or apps without even getting informed.

Spammers

https://preview.redd.it/g5bykyc8j82h1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b4272b1baaa6903150f3b9aa9faf28bd5f791f8

It has come to our attention that there has been a few spammers in the comments who are constantly attempting to promote their sites, some of these people have also been doing this on multiple other subreddits, which breaks rule 2 of Reddit's Content Policy, Spam.

From their official site: "Spammers compromise everyone's use of Reddit by artificially inflating exposure to unwanted or irrelevant content." With the one of the things that violates this policy being "Mass-posting repetitive content for the purpose of exposure or financial gain." Simply speaking, anyone caught spamming their sites will recieve a warning then a ban, I would also like to tell you that you're not invisible, Reddit knows when you're doing this and there will be consequences to your account.

To prevent these people as well as bots from spamming unsolicited sites, it's why from now on posts older than 6 months will be archived, because they're impossible to moderate.

STOP SHARING SITE LINKS!!

https://preview.redd.it/yfmmexkcj82h1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d040ac1d79204df6c53e41bd237e16f5bdd086d7

Like, seriously, this has been said enough times now, don't share links to anime sites in posts or comments, you were warned in the rules, you were warned in a pinned post and you were warned WHILE COMMENTING, this is not because of lack of awareness. We get multiple comments like these removed daily because no one actually follows this rule, most of them aren't even removed by us, it's Reddit itself! And I'm gonna tell you, that's asking to get in trouble, having your comments removed by the Reddit admins and accumulating those removals will put your account in a bad standing, you're the only one losing here. Oh and don't even bother trying to bypass that with putting (dot) or separating the link, Reddit will know.

https://preview.redd.it/odau5olpj82h1.png?width=1403&format=png&auto=webp&s=faad35c938ab41281990459390453bcc69db620c

Developers and Promotions

We have slightly revamped how promotions work on the sub, now developers can freely make posts in regards to development of their apps as long as it's not spammy with the dedicated "Developer Post" flair, anyone who's not a verified developer can not use this post flair (but you will be able to browse previous dev posts on the sub).

The process is still the same, you reach out to mod mail and talk about your app, send the link to it and a proof that it has no malware, once everything is checked out you will be assigned the Dev flair and be able to post it. If you want to post future major updates on your app, please talk with moderation again before doing that.

If you're the developer of a known app, or has posted an approved promotion here in the past, please contact the mod team through the mod mail to recieve this flair as well (you may or may not choose to specify in the flair what you're the developer of).

By the way, we're aware of people trying to promote their sites by pretending to not be the developer and only making a recommendation on it, like "Look guys I found this underrated site" which is a laughable attempt at best, and an easy way to get a ban if you try to fool us more than once.

This should be all for now, just like I previously said, we would notify you guys if there were any updates worth mentioning, and I will finish this post keeping up that same promise, cheers!

- A thank you from the r/animeapp mod team

Main things I care about:

Best app for anime in iOS?

I have explored mangayomi, anymex but theres bugs in mangayomi in migration to new extensions also kinda hard to find extension that works for long time. You dont get ep updates in anymex but u can use anilist client for that. It uses mangayomi extensions, i tried sora extensions but they dont seem to work for me.

Now we get to sora, u can use it to watch non anime stuff too. But it doesnt have anilist or mal sync. So we get to shirox(which i use) and there is another app called kazemi(which is on appstore🙏). Kazemi is in early dev stage, it goes episode updates and all but no feature to migrate. Shirox doesnt have ep updates so u use anilist client. But acc to me this is the best app i have found, only sora extensions work here. There is mal and anilist sync and the ui is good.

Tell me if i missed anything, also there are some other apps too but they are either taken down or no longer gets support like mojuru.

Where to reach dev of manga repos.

In [anymex] they don't help on extensions. In case dev of that extension repo can help on that.

Subtitle AI Generator for Japanese, Please Help!!

Hello, does someone maybe know how I can get generated subtitles from a Japanese dub (later I will translate to English)? I need them for anime that don't have English subtitles. Free and accurate. I try much transcription and subtitle edit, but it's not accurate and missing words so much... 😑😄
