Band pass filter

Created an airband bpf in kicad. Not finished. I knew next to nothing going into this. But with the help of some great books and weeks of research I will have revision 1 completed. Not expecting it to be perfect and I am fully aware that one can be purchased for a very low price. But I did this as a learning experience. I will post the results once the components are populated. All smd except for L1 and L2. Some of these photos are just me learning the nanovna and inductance meter. I also tried to prototype this design originally in Manhattan style but quickly learned that was near impossible at this frequency. Thanks for checking it out.

White cylindrical object on a pole Port Hueneme, CA

I have been re-directed here from whatisthisthing because they said its tech related and might be antenna related.
What is this white cylinder object on top of a pole. I have lived in this area almost my whole life. I just noticed it recently and i am certain it wasn't there in Nov 2022. It is also the only one in the whole neighborhood. Why is it so high in the air and by itself? I am unable to tell how high it is.
Thank you

What is the "egg beater" antenna on the tail? 160th SOAR Little Bird, the AH-6R

What is the "egg beater" antenna on the tail? 160th SOAR (Special operations) Little Bird, the AH-6R

It’s crowded up here!

17Ghz, 22Ghz backhaul microwave links, 700 and 800mhz Motorola P25 systems, all three cell carriers, and looks like 70 or so more antennas! Then there is my little but mighty Meshtastic Node, less than a watt repeating comms 45 miles in all directions.

When your dish is aimed the wrong way!

Apparently you can just pull the rack out of your oven and bounce the satellite signal off of that!

Microwave link vs Starlink

We’re on a rural block and I’ve been using Starlink for the last year. It’s decent most of the time, but the latency spikes and occasional outages during bad weather have been frustrating, especially for work calls. A mate suggested looking into a microwave link to a nearby site that has proper fibre.

Has anyone here tried both? How does a microwave link compare in terms of reliability, speed stability, and how it handles rain/storms?

I came across Wave1 while researching and they seem to do a lot of these setups in Australia. Would really appreciate any real-world experiences before I decide which way to go.

Thanks!

Any guesses why they couldn't just run the cable/coax straight down?

I don't think I've ever seen wires come off the side of a pole/tower like that in a professional setting. It's something your CB buddy or some hams would do.

What’s this used for ?

This is either a NOAA vehicle, USCG , or us fish and wildlife I believe as they are all in the same area. Looks like a radar on boats or something.

Sorry in advance for the poor picture. What’s the antenna used for any ideas ?

Not really Antenna Porn but…

Thought maybe y’all enjoy some pics of what it takes to get the antennas hung. I worked cell construction 16 years and these are a few I did over the years. These are Canada, New Mexico and Arizona.

Lee, IL

My favorite Illinois site. Many thanks to the owner of tower sites for hauling those historical antennas up there.

What is this antenna?

I don't know anything about antennas or towers but this is nearby my cousin's house. What is this and would I notice any interference from it with my SDR?

Need help identifying an antenna

A friend of mine sent me some pictures of an antenna he encountered while on a hike and asked what it might be used for.
Since I haven’t seen an antenna like this before, I am passing the question to you guys.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: the antenna is located in close proximity to a military training area.

Update:
Since my curiosity kicked real hard, I set out today to investigate this strange object myself. I believe, it is indeed not an antenna, but in fact some sort of decoration, maybe for Christmas or something.
The wire from the bottom tube leads to two power outlets on the main boom between the mesh sections.
Then there is a winch on the lower section of the mast and a pulley higher up, furthermore there is a hinge on the bottom.
So my conclusion is, that the mesh section of that thing can be laid flat to attach lights, decoration or something like that. The object is visible from the village below and also from the road leading up the mountain, so this makes perfectly sense to me.

I add more pictures in a comment, since I don’t know if and how I can add more pictures to the original post via the app.
