Finally added Wireless Apple CarPlay to my B8 Audi

Installed a Wireless Apple CarPlay kit into my older Audi recently and honestly it makes the car feel 10 years newer 😭

Still keeps:

• OEM look

• factory controls

• steering wheel buttons

• original MMI system

No ugly tablet screens or cheap stick-on displays.

Probably one of the best mods I’ve done to the interior so far.

Mods

So I got myself a 2015 S3 8v saloon 6 weeks ago and it’s a bit quiet for my taste.
The cars completely stock other than a res delete. I’m thinking of a sport cat downpipe but I’ve got no idea what would sound the best.
If anyone else has experience with this and could let me know what sounds best that would be great 🙏🙏

(If I get a dp I’ll obviously tune it too and probably stage 1 it at the same time)

Should I buy 120k miles s3 launch edition for 10k

My friends dad is selling his s3 due to them moving across the country the car in the exterior is really clean and seems to be well taken care the mileage unfortunately is high but I do know the ea888 is a good motor with the proper care it has a mrbp exhaust and neuspeed intake already installed as well

Wheel Fitment. 18x8.5 ET38

Looking to replace my factory wheels as the previous owner painted them Matt black 😭

Car is a 3 door 8v. Looking at getting 18x8.5 ET38 with a 235/40 tyre.

Anyone gone for this size wheel and had any running issues as I want to go as wide as possible without rubbing.

2017 vs 2016

I’ve been looking to buy my first audi (first german car too) and I found 2 s3’s that seem in good condition and fair price. Both are 14k, no body or paint flaws, nice interiors. Both have had regular oil changes.

The 2016 has 66k miles, and the 2017 has 97k. The seller from the 2017 said it’s stage 2, which to me just sounds like it could end up being unreliable in the long run. I’m leaning more towards the 2016, but in research it looks like these tend to have more issues, specifically with the haldex.

So I’m wondering if the potential haldex issues are really as common/bad as some posts make it out to be, and if it outweighs the extra 34k miles and questionable care that went into the 2017?

Badging

Just got a 2024 Audi S3 and it’s all black with the black optics package. Unfortunately I’m a classic guy when it comes to badging and would rather the chrome badging all the way around over the black badges. Has anyone switched from black to chrome? If so, where are the cheapest badges to be purchased? Wanna find ones for cheap idc if they’re not OEM as long as they’re the same measurements. If not I’ll go OEM.

Added silver to my 8Y.5 S3 with black optic package.

Finally found the silver exhaust tips and now this car looks exactly how I hoped it would from factory. Just enough silver IMO.

New whip!

Been eyeing an S3 for 2 years now. Drove a 2022 GR86 before this. This is my first German/lux car and I love it, endless fun. It’s funny because I posted in the 86 forum that I’m leaving the 86 for an S3 and they said I downgraded… lol.

Rear brake change - help needed

2017 S3.

I opened the rears with VCDS, ended up striping one of the 14mm triple squares because it's pretty seized up. I need to take it to a garage. Piston wasn't in enough, tried resetting the change more and opening again, but the piston came all the way out. VCDS is giving me an error when trying to retract and even with taking the motor off the caliper, I can't figure out how to get this thing back in.

Any advice appreciated.

Hardwiring a battery pack on 8Y s3

Hi there! I have a 2023 s3 - the first brand new car I bought, and I absolutely love it.

I recently purchased a kit with a dashcam + parking surveillance module + battery pack. I need to hardwire the battery pack to the fuse box - and the rest connects to the battery.

The battery pack manual tells me I need to connect the VCC to an always-on 20 amp fuse/slot. But the car manual (nor internet) doesn't specify which slots are always-on and which are ignition-on. It also doesn't specify the amperage, other than the two 20amp fuses that I have there already - no 8 Sliding sunroof control unit and no 52 Cigarette 12v (which I think is ignition-on).

Anyway, can anyone suggest which best to use for a 20amp always-on slot?

Also, which bolt did you guys use for grounding 😅. All three bolts look the same to me, but only one is supposed to be grounded?
