What are your thoughts of the name Nineveh for a girl?

Pronounced NIN-uh-vuh. I'm obsessed with unique names that sound good as a baby and as an adult, my 1st daughter is named Cambria and I want a name that will go good with hers.

Rare baby girl name

So I want a name that is very rare. It seems like a lot of the names I like I end up not liking the nicknames that go with it. I.E. I found the name Raelle, but dislike the nicknames Ellie and Rae. Ellie is too common and Rae is too masculine. I really like the name Tess but it is way too similar to my name. I also tend to like names that are very feminine and usually end in an a or are french vibes. Are there any names that come to mind? I am only 4 weeks away from baby day and I really don't like anything anymore.

Nyla or Laila ?

Still tossing up and baby is due next week 😵‍💫
We live in Melbourne, Australia.
And if you’re a teacher please tell me which name seems to be more common!?
Seems as though Layla/Laila is the more common name according to rankings but I have not met any little Laila’s in real life! but have met 2 or 3 Nyla’s!

Thoughts on the name Zoya? Is it a good Arabic/Islamic name?

Could I get some opinions on the name Zoya? I’m expecting a baby girl and would like to choose an Islamic name for her. I love the name Zoya the most. I’m also wanting to choose a middle name that flows with Zoya and also has a nice meaning with the name Zoya. So far I’m thinking Zoya Jannah (which with my thinking, could roughly translate to a life in paradise following a Google search). I’d love your thoughts on this too as I do not speak Arabic and wondered what it would translate to if I put them together. I’m also open to other suggestions of a middle name that would go with Zoya.

Baby brother name help!!

I just found out I'm having a boy!! My daughter is named Isley-Claire but we call her Claire more often.

I also have custody of my two younger brothers who act as Claire and the new baby's brothers in a way. Their names are Lincoln (12) & Ridger (8)

I have no idea what to name baby boy. I like some names (Ryder, Declan, Brooks, Arlo) but really I'm not in love with anything.

Edit to add: Baby boys middle name will be Jude. And if this baby were to be a girl, we had the names Cambria and Magnolia picked out.

Vintage English names?

I have very specific taste…
Doesn’t have to meet all of these obviously but this is my ‘criteria’ / taste:

Vintage, classic, and timeless style
Established rather than trendy
Not overly modern or recently invented
Not trendy, but still familiar
Easy to spell and pronounce
Works well at all ages, from childhood through adulthood
Not overly nickname-like as a full legal name
Prefer names that feel enduring rather than fashionable
Open to a range of origins, but generally drawn more to english names
Not looking for highly unusual or deliberately unique spellings

My name is already uncommon, as well as a weird spelling so don’t want to put that on my children as no one can pronounce it just by reading it😆

Examples of ones already on my list:
Boys:
Edmund
Frederick
Alistair
Roman

Girls:
Violet
Marigold
Beatrice
Rosalie (although Rose is too common)

Please give me more suggestions!! 😊

Turkish couple living in the UK — how do these baby names sound in English? 🇬🇧🇹🇷

We’re a Turkish couple living in the UK and trying to choose a boy’s name that works well in both Turkish and English.
The names we’re considering are:

Timur
Aybars (off the list)
Attila
Kaan

New editions:
Alp
Altay
Bora
Cem
Teoman
Ediz

I’d love to hear from English speakers / people living in the UK:
How would you naturally pronounce these names when you first see them? And how do they sound to an English ear?
Do any of them sound particularly difficult, unusual, or awkward in the UK? Or do you think they work well?
We’re also open to other suggestions ideally Turkish names that sound strong and natural in English too.
What would you pick? 😊

Grady, Chase, or Calvin

My husband’s name is Craig Joseph, and his late father was Craig Thomas. The three names we’re deciding between are:
**Grady Thomas**
**Chase Joseph**
**Calvin “Cal” Joseph**
We love Thomas as a middle name, and we also love the idea of our son having the initials CJW just like my husband, so either type of connection would be meaningful to us.
The first names themselves don’t have any family significance. I love one, my husband loves another, and we both really like the third, but I mixed up the order because I don’t want to influence anyone’s opinion :-)
We could also potentially use Craig as the middle name for Grady or Calvin/Cal, although I don’t love Craig with the one-syllable Chase.
At this point we genuinely can’t decide and would love to know which first name you like best just based on the name itself/sound.
Our last name is two syllables, starts with W, and ends in -house.
**Grady, Chase, or Calvin (Cal)?**

Help!!! Baby boy coming

My husband and I CANNOT agree on a name and I’m starting to feel flustered. Time is ticking

I like
- graham

- Jude
- Quincy
-Henry

He likes
- jacob

(Issue is 3/4 of these names are his brothers names 🤨 and I don’t get along with his fam. So no I’m not naming my son after them)

What are names that maybe meet in the middle ground?
Edit to add his middle name will be Paul

Need names for 2nd baby!

I'm expecting a baby girl late this year and i wanted some cute names that go with her sister Sarai (pronounced: suh-rye), I want the names to be uncommon and not Ava or Olivia type of names that a lot of other kids will have.

33 weeks and still haven't decided what to name our 3rd baby

Currently 33 weeks pregnant with our first bio daughter!
We have two adopted kids, my niece Yolanda (11) and my nephew Santana (8). This is my first time being pregnant and needing to choose a name for one of our children. I'd love to hear some external opinions!
My husband and I have different tastes in names. His list tends to be the more controversial names and I do worry that some of them feel Americanized and this worries me since we don't live there.
My husband's list:
Amity
Aspen
Aurielle
Bexley
Davina
Graycen
Hadley
Haven
Idalia
Kailea
Kalina
Kayce
Keeley/Keely/Keidy
Kinsley
Kora
Lyra
Marlow/Marlowe
Maven/Mavis
Merritt
Micah
Morrigan
Raven/Riven
Taya
Teagan
Vera
My list:
Avaline/Avalon
Chelsea
Corinne
Danika
Eleanora
Emmaline
Erika
Gemma
Genevieve
Graciela
Laila
Ty, not as a stan alone, e.g. Aleisha-Ann or Francesca-May
Violette
Vivienne
Winnie/Wynne
Xanthe/Xanthia
Yasmin/Yasmine, I've loved these names since I was a child but I'm unsure if Yolie’s name also starting with a Y should deter me…
Please help us out! And please be nice. I'm at the point where I'm crying over everything lol.

Middle name, yes or no?

My husband and I do not know the gender of baby yet, but we’ve decided on Maeve if it’s a baby girl. We love this name! We’ve been stuck on middle names though. I asked him if he had any family names he would like to try to incorporate if it would fit, and he said he’d like to use his late grandmothers name that had a huge part in raising him. Her name was Emma.. I really really want to honor this for him because I know how much she meant to him. However, the two names don’t flow as well as other options which isn’t a huge deal since she will only really go by her first name anyway.

So which one sounds better:

Maeve Emma Harris
Emma Maeve Harris (and go by Maeve)

I’ve never really wanted my child to go by there middle name because I feel it’s a bit confusing when it comes to filling out paperwork and school and stuff. But I’d be open to it in this situation.
