Rare baby girl name

So I want a name that is very rare. It seems like a lot of the names I like I end up not liking the nicknames that go with it. I.E. I found the name Raelle, but dislike the nicknames Ellie and Rae. Ellie is too common and Rae is too masculine. I really like the name Tess but it is way too similar to my name. I also tend to like names that are very feminine and usually end in an a or are french vibes. Are there any names that come to mind? I am only 4 weeks away from baby day and I really don't like anything anymore.

Girl name with Marie as a nickname

We are almost positive that we want to use Raelle as the middle name for our little girl. We don't think Marie Raelle flow well together

Can you please spam me with beautiful names that can use Marie as a nickname and sound great when paired with the middle name Raelle?

Thanks!

Help us pick!!!

Due in September and we are starting to fall in love with 2 names. We just don't know which one we want for her first and which one for her middle.

Raelle Marie

Marie Raelle

The reasoning behind the names:

Raelle: my mom who passed was an author and the main character in one of her books is Raelle. Raelle has the Elle sound which I have always loved AND it is Hebrew for ewe, a Christian influence which we wanted to incorporate without being too on the nose. We can call her our little lamb.

Marie: also has a French vibe to it. I love picturing a little baby Marie. My sister's middle name is Marie so it would be nice to honor her.

We don't know anyone with either of these as first names, but the downside to Raelle Marie is that EVERYONE has the middle name Marie. So it doesn't feel that unique. But if we do it as the first name, I think it becomes instantly unique. But would it be unique enough as first name?

Initials: my husband's initials are RM. We feel like either way, we are connecting baby girl to my husband, whether we have her initials be RM or MR because at least they are the same letters. (We are also considering Rosemarie Raelle to make the first name more unique; however, then she wouldn't have daddy's initials).

Thank you so much for your input!

Please vote for your favorite!

I am in the Midwest USA and we are debating between two girl names right now.

Ismerie Rose

or

Rosemarie with an undecided middle name.

Either way, her primary nickname will be Marie.

Feel free to comment with any middle names. We kinda like Belle, Faith, Kyrie (pronounced the Greek way Keer-ee-ay), Olivier (pronounced the French way Oh-liv-ee-ay).

Thanks!

Thanks guys for all of your help! My husband and I had a very emotional sit down about names and ended up coming up with three. But we are also very flexible with coming up with more options and don't want to finalize until we see her.

However, I am very curious to see everyone's thoughts!

Belle is a learned Disney princess that we like, we have a library, Vye-oh-la is a purple flower and stringed instrument that would both honor my mom who passed away. She loved purple flowers and played the violin.

Olive branch represents peace, Rose honors my mom because Rose was part of her pen name.

Rose, same as above, Marie is my sister's middle name and part of my grandma's first name. Evangeline means good news and is a nod to our Christian beliefs) nn Marie. We are also considering no middle name or a one syllable name like Joy.

Our last name is 3 syllables and we are open to different middle names for the first names as well.

Thanks all!

Baby names

How does ANYONE do this? MY husband and I have names on our lists that are INCREDIBLY different. I'm actually at the point where I don't even like any names right now because this is so frustrating. Does anyone have advice about naming a baby? There are so many negative connotations with certain names that names get ruined for me, which honestly, I want them ruined before she is here. There was one name in particular that I was almost set with and then I heard the worst thing about that name, that if I didn't know that piece of information, I would have been insulting an entire community of people that I interact with daily.

Seriously looking for advice on how to name a baby when you fully and completely stuck and have very different tastes than your husband? Do you guys just settle with names? Right now any name on his list I'm like, "ok yup, that's a name."

Thanks everyone.

Viola

Hi Guys!!! I've been on here a lot lately, but there is a name that I had on my list a while ago that my husband said no to. Well I came across it again today and it took my breathe away and made me get choked up. It was Viola. I have not had this type of reaction to any name I've looked at so far. I know the reason is because I have been looking for a way to honor my mom who passed away a few years ago and was my best friend. Her favorite color was purple and would have purple flowers all over her garden and even went as far as wearing purple clothes and shoes. She was well known for her singing, tried out for Florentine Opera after high school (while she had a cold so they told her to come back a year later, but instead she chose to start a family), and played Violin. It just feels like the perfect honorific.

Since I had such a strong reaction to it, I feel like I have to at least make it a middle name. I asked my husband why he didn't like the name and if he would consider it for middle name at least. No response yet. In the meantime, I'm realizing that I would also like to consider it for a first name since 1) it gave me such a strong reaction and 2) my main problems with names have been the nicknames....this one I don't dislike any nicknames that would be associated with it.

Here is the only problem I can think of, which leads to my question. How would you pronounce this name? I find both pronunciations beautiful, but I prefer one over the other. The difficulty is that I am honoring my mom by both the flower and the instrument which have 2 different pronunciations. Or where you are from, do the instrument and the flower have the same pronunciation? Would it be bad to just pick one and go with it since the other pronunciation doesn't bother me in the slightest? Let daughter choose which pronunciation she prefers as she ages? Kinda like how nicknames develop as you go through life?

Thanks all!

Variations of Olive

Please vote on your favorite and comment any opinions

Updated to say, I didn't include Olivia because we wouldn't consider that option.

Olivine is a gemstone that peridot comes from (my birthstone) but the knick off olive oil comment has me dying so we probably won't consider that anymore.

Olivette is an opera in Paris from the early 1900s where the main character is a woman named Olivette. There are a few pretty cool historical figures with that name too.

Oliviette is the name of someone I came across on You Tube and I thought it sounded so pretty as she was introducing herself.

Genevieve Help!

Is Genevieve becoming too common? I don't know a single Genevieve in real life, but I am suddenly seeing it in lots of places. Can you comment if you are naming your baby Genevieve this year or if you know someone naming their baby Genevieve?

We like it because it is pretty and rare. We don't like the nickname Gen at all (we know a few Jen's that we don't like including someone who died from a drug addiction, so i think of that every time I hear Jen) but like Genna, so we will probably just encourage people not to call her Gen.....but now if it ends up being common too, then that kinda defeats the purpose of the name.

Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.

Opinions on Girl Names

We are STRUGGLING with baby girl names. Please tell me why you wouldn't choose names on the list because if you make fun of it and I don't care, that means I really like, or if you make fun of it and it ruins it, I would rather it be ruined now.

(Feel free to also comment any of the names you like too 😄)
