Baby Boy Final Names!

My husband and I are trying to decide between the following baby boy names:

Harrison - my husband’s favorite, but I am worried that everyone will call him “Harry” and I’m not a fan of that.

Micah - my favorite (I think?) but I like all three

Liam - we both like this name but I am concerned because it is the #1 boy name right now that everyone will be named Liam when he starts school.

We are between James and Aaron for middle names.

Any thoughts? Feedback? Help! TIA!

Céline or Sabine for a French baby in the US?

I know neither name is especially "fresh" in the francophone world, but for family reasons these are the last 2 names on the list. I like them both equally (especially the nickname Beanie for Sabine) but I wonder whether the latter will be "too French" for an American environment. Thanks!

Biracial baby named Malcolm?

My husband and I (Caucasian) are adopting a biracial boy at the end of this year. We love the name Malcolm. We have received some backlash about the name because they say “Malcolm X is not well remembered.” We don’t see a problem with using the name. We did not choose this name because of Malcolm X, we just like the name. We also feel like Malcolm X is not a horrible namesake, like some people might think.

Looking for opinions, especially from the black community. We don’t want to be “those” white parents raising a black child, if that makes sense.

editing to add
The backlash about Malcolm X is from family members, but it is more about his aggressive approach during the Civil Rights movement, as opposed to MLK’s peaceful approach. We agree that their stance on this is prejudiced.. we are working hard on setting firm boundaries with these family members and educating them on racism in all of it’s forms. We feel very prepared to handle this and stand with our son on these topics! :)

Thank you all for your answers!

Thoughts on the name Calvin for our son?

Help me like the name Calvin.

We had a short list of names picked out for our boy and were going to chose once babys here. We'll babys here and I realized that my husband has a very strong preference for the name Calvin. He has loved this name since grade school and always wanted to name his son this. Also my husband and his dad have the same initials, CDO. My husband wants to carry the tradition and do the same for his first son.

I dont hate the name, I like it but there were others I liked more and figured we'd chose. I liked Issac, Elias, Levi and Zachary more. I care about meanings of names and I do kinda hate that Calvin means bald, and also that it's not a very internationally friendly name - but my husband says baby can always go by his middle name David in another country, just like my husband does.

I want to say yes to the things that are important to my husband. He's not putting his foot down and saying we have to use Calvin but I know he'll be disappointed if we dont. Its basically either we go with a name that I dont really care for and hopefully get used to, or a name he doesnt really care for. So we might as well let this be special for him. We considered Caleb to keep the CDO initials but have a better meaning - but neither of us love the name so we might as well use Calvin. There's not another C name we love more.

Its a nice enough name right? Common enough to be familiar but not overly used. I want a strong classic name for our son. When we picked our first born daughters name we took forever to agree on a name, but if God blesses us with any more kids I'm naming the next one lol. Please give me your honest feedback on the name Calvin.

Have you ever chosen a name you weren't 100% in love with, and then came to love it as you got to know your baby?

How would you pronounce "Kaylia?"

My husband and have been through hell and back to try to conceive and after many prayers, I finally hit the 2nd trimester! We have a baby girl due and we both like this name but we want to run it by other people first, to see if it would be hard to pronounce or be mispronounced regularly.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Kay-LEE-uh is the pronunciation we are going for. We are open to new spellings of this name to try to achieve this pronunciation too!

Help pick a boy name?

We just found out that we can’t choose our number one boy name, George.

We have a long, German last name so we liked that the first name was one syllable/short.

Other names we like are:

Louis
Jesse
Wesley
Reed
Bruce
Patrick

Thoughts between these or other suggestions?

Help name my third ‘E’ baby

My husband’s name is Evan.
My daughter is Evangeline.
My son is Enzo.
Third baby is a girl, and I am having the hardest time finding another E name that I adore!

(My name starts with an S if anyone is wondering)

Note: close family member is Ella, so that name is off the table!

What's the deal with Elowen?

I really, really like the name Elowen, and have my entire pregnancy. It means "elm tree" and has the exact rhythm to it that I've been looking for. Many people in the what to expect community seem to think that it's really popular, though, even though the name hasn't even cracked the top 200, and I haven't met any Elowens. Also, if it matters, we weren't looking to choose the nickname Elle/Ellie, but prefer Winnie.

Because of all the stigma around it being "trendy", I'm hesitant to use it, but I just really like it a lot. I think it might be a name that is put on a lot of lists but isn't actually used as often as people think. I could be wrong, though. Should I use it or skip it?

People dislike the name Ausma

It’s Lithuanian and my family is Lithuanian American. I want to honor my ancestry without naming a child a “grandma” name.

But the reactions have been very negative.

So, is Ausma a good name for a baby girl? Should different spellings be considered?

Or should I find a different name?

Flora Dawn

Love this as a first and middle name, only concern is did you immediately think of Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty?? Dawn and Fauna sound similar so just making sure 😬

Edit: I know its already and old movie and will be even older for my kids generation but 🤷‍♀️

Name help for third baby girl!!

Currently at 30 weeks with my third and final baby! My husband and I are both pretty picky with girl names so I feel like we've already used everything we like and agree on. We also gave our older daughters 2 middle names and will do the same for our youngest. Here's some general info that might help with suggestions:

Last name is 2 syllables and starts with R

Older daughters are named Rhea Julene Calliope and Cecily Sloane Avra

Names I like: Cleo, Lilith, Arden, Gwyneth, Perrin

Names husband likes: Mackenzie (personally not a fan), Dakota, Skylar, Ellis, Kyrie

We would prefer a first name that doesn't start with R or C and doesn't end with "ah" or "lee"

Any ideas would be appreciated!! :)

Vintage Greaser Name Ideas

My first son has a very unique first name. His middle name is Dean. When I first named him, I knew using Dean for a middle name was risky because I knew I'd want to use it if I had another boy someday, and here I am a couple years later pregnant with another boy.

I need help picking a name for boy #2. I know the vibe I want, just need help thinking of names that fit it.

I love all things that feel like a black and white movie, vintage and a little edgy. I want my kid's name to have that feel, as if you were transported back in time to the 1950's and there's a guy leaning against the wall of your high school in a white tee and black leather jacket. Picture James Dean, John Travolta as Danny Zuko in Grease... that vibe.

Clyde is a cool name and I'm considering that. But beyond that, I can't think of names that give the feel I want. Any ideas? Do we like Clyde?

Is Solveig a horrible name?

I'm mostly Swedish/Norwegian and I fell in love with the name Solveig (pronounced Soul-vay in Norway) but I read that many people thought it was ugly or would be mispronounced. I have family with that name going back to the 1500s and would really like to honor my roots. It means "daughter of the sun" and is old norse. I know it's going to have to be corrected in the US but I've always had to correct my name and it never bothered me.

Am I possibly saddling my baby with a name that would get her teased? Is it too out there? I liked having a unique name growing up, but I don't want her to resent her name.

Any help would be appreciated.

Leo or Lio?

Lio (Lee-oh) would be more meaningful for my husband and his family. His paternal grandfather was Lionel, and maternal grandfather was Lee. So Lio would be an homage to both of them. I've just never seen Lio spelled with an 'i' in a traditional English spelling. (I speak Spanish so I have no qualms myself with that pronunciation!)

I guess my concern would be that he would go through his life with people saying (lie-oh) ...

Thoughts?

Middle name confusion..

Anna is the first name & I like Belle as a middle name but ppl, including my partner, have said it's one name (Annabelle) split in two making it sound awkward. He prefers Grace or Rose.

I'm not sure about it sounding "awkward", what are your thoughts? Honest answers are welcome & so are any suggestions. Thx in advance x

We are naming our son Forrest and need a middle name <3

We have decided on Forrest :)

We need a middle name. We’re in the uk btw so pls don’t mention the kkk associations as we are well and truly set on Forrest now :) nothing was enough to put us off.

We need a middle name! So far we have thought of Forrest John and Forrest Cole but nothing really hit the spot yet!

We are having a boy so preferably something masculine.

Alder Vaughn?

I like the balance of a nature name with a cool, edgy name. If this baby boy was going to be a girl the name choice was Maeve Arbor or Briar Sloan. Mom & dad both like Alder, but i (mom) am worried it's too weird? We live in the US. What do you think?
