Flora Dawn

Love this as a first and middle name, only concern is did you immediately think of Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty?? Dawn and Fauna sound similar so just making sure 😬

Edit: I know its already and old movie and will be even older for my kids generation but 🤷‍♀️

Getting PCOS/PMOS under control while we wait

Hey all! So we are waiting about 5 years to try for many other reasons but I’d love to take this time to really get my PCOS under control to increase my fertility and decrease my miscarriage chances 🤍 Im newly diagnosed after taking birth control for ONE month and it screwing up my cycle for the last five months and think i have a pretty mild case of PCOS. I’m a healthy weight and have no indications of insulin resistance besides having PCOS. What diet changes did you make if you’re in a similar boat? So far I’m just taking a myo and d chiro inositol 40:1 powder with folic acid and vitamin d 2x a day, as thats all my doctor recommended.

Background if its helpful: I have the polycystic appearing ovaries and ovulate a little late around day 17, testosterone is on the higher side of normal, some hormonal acne but nothing crazy foe a 19 year old, and so far every other lab has been normal but i am getting a post ovulation progesterone checked next week along with a fasting insulin test.

I don’t struggle with excess body hair, weight issues, irregular bleeding besides a slightly longer cycle around 31 days because of the delayed ovulation, hair thinning, dark patches of skin, skin tags, or family history.

hEDS and strabismus

Hey! Ive had signs of hypermobile EDS retrospectively since childhood but was diagnosed a couple years ago as a teenager. Ive also had strabismus (lazy eye) in both eyes since i was a toddler, which was thankfully caught at the time and treated wonderfully and i dont have significant issues with it today. I just heard today from a doctor on instagram that strabismus can actually be caused by EDS because its the connective tissue in your eyes that is too “weak” and cannot hold alignment. I’m wondering how many of you also have strabismus?

New diagnosis after birth control

So I took a progesterone only birth control for one month in the beginning of this year and didn’t like it. Before that month I had 28 day cycles and ovulated on day 14 (confirmed with basal body temp). Immediately after birth control my cycles have been around 34 days and I’m ovulating around day 18. I also have polycystic appearing ovaries and high AMH but those were not tested prior to birth control. All my hormones, A1C, and other blood tests are normal. I’m also a healthy weight and have always been either slightly underweight or a healthy weight. No family history of pcos. No excess body hair.

I have seen a lot of talk about post pill pcos on this sub but all that ive seen are people who were on the pill for years and it’s assumed that they would have developed it either way but the pill just masked it. But in my situation it would be really precise timing if i just happened to take birth control the cycle before getting pcos.

Im wondering if its something that may resolve with time if it is caused by the pill? Or if it even makes sense for me to be diagnosed with true pcos?

Prism glasses

I have had extopia strabismus in both eyes since i was a toddler. Im now 19 and just aged out of my wonderful peds strabismus specialist. At my check up with my new doctor he said if I’m having double vision on a daily basis i should get prism glasses and now i have an appointment with the prism specialist on the 13th.

As a kid i did vision therapy that helped a ton and i can control it pretty well. I mostly experience double vision that is difficult to control when im tired (tbf i have a few chronic illnesses so im tired a lot lol) and when im trying to focus on something a little further away.

On this subreddit ive seen a lot of people talking about how they got dependent on the glasses and eventually had to get surgery because they maxed out their prescription. However, i see a lot of these people were newly diagnosed and put on these glasses before vision therapy or anything. Wondering if anyone is in a similar situation as me and how glasses worked out for them?

I also am wondering if its possible to just wear these glasses during the evening when I’m tired or when I’m driving and looking in the distance a lot? Or if its even worth getting glasses at all if i can control my wandering eye well like 70% of the time?

Prism lenses

I am getting prism lenses (and glasses in general) for the first time. I have seen on here that you shouldn’t order them online because they wont have accurate measurements. Is that the case even if I’m going to see a prism specialist who will take the measurements first?

If so, is it worth it to buy empty frames and get just the lenses done at my doctor? Im looking at warby parker and they sell non prescription lenses, is it easy enough to take those out as opposed to buying truly lense-free frames?

Baby bin

Recently saw a comment on here saying that trying to suppress their baby fever actually makes it more intense and sometimes giving into it a little helps to calm it down.

My husband and I have crazy baby fever despite having about 5 years of waiting ahead of us. We recently bought a 25 gallon bin to fill with baby stuff over the next 5 years. For example, we got a onesie on our 1 year anniversary trip and added that to the bin!

We don’t plan to spend much money on baby stuff before we start trying but just allowing ourselves to get a $2 baby item from goodwill every few months has been a nice way to acknowledge the baby fever and keep moving forward in hope 🤍

DIY electrolyte mix?

Has anyone made a good electrolyte powder/mix at home with enough sodium that doesn’t taste like straight ocean water? The pre made packets are just not in my budget tbh and because of GI symptoms like nausea I really struggle with eating heavily salted foods or having buffeted sodium capsules. Drinking my electrolytes seems to be the easiest on my stomach

Also how much sodium and water are we aiming for on the daily? Ive seen a lot of large ranges online

Laine: does it make you think of Lane Kim??

So we really love Lainey but since its so popular we thought we would name her Laine with the nickname of Lainey (plus Laine seems like it may age better?). But the im wondering if it will immediately make people think of Lane Kim from Gilmore Girls as she will be half Asian (Chinese instead of Korean tho). Am I thinking too hard about this or would you also think the same if you saw an Asian girl named Laine? Side note, I do love Gilmore Girls and the character of Lane but I dont have the intentions of naming my daughter after a TV character. Thanks!!

When to start trying for a baby?

My husband and I are both young, we’ve been married for 1 year and are wondering how you all decided when you were ready to start trying to conceive. We are stuck between being wise stewards of the time and resources God has/will entrust us with and following his divine plan and timing over our own.

We both have crazy baby fever 24/7 and can’t wait to start creating new life and raising them to know and love Jesus! But I still have another year of college and he is not quite where he wants to be in his career. We are doing natural family planning and there have been two months this last year when w REALLY felt the Lord giving us a million signs and urging us to become parents, but I didn’t become pregnant.

It’s hard to hold the two sides in tension of wanting to not be dumb with the life and opportunities we have been given and also trusting by faith and not by sight. I have also heard a lot of Christians online say that preventing pregnancy at all is against God’s Word because it shows a lack of trust and a level of control over our lives that we should surrender to Christ. BUT also I’ve seen the counter argument of people saying that yes the Bible says that a full quiver is a blessing and we should be fruitful and multiply, but God doesn’t explicitly say when to have kids (besides inside of marriage) or how many to have.

So anyway, for those waiting to try what is your thought process behind that? For all the parents, how did you know when to start your family? And for those who leave the timing completely up to God, why did you decide to do that? Thank you all!!

Edit: I also wanted to add that a big contributing factor for why were were planning to wait to try for a baby (we originally planned to try in about 5 years) is that we would love for me to be a stay at home mom/work super casually and we don’t see how we could do that financially right now. So thats a big part of balancing not leaning on our own understandings with being wise stewards.

ALSO also we did try to conceive this cycle after lots of prayer and studying His Word and I haven’t gotten my period yet (its not due for a couple of days) but I’m having period-like cramps this afternoon so I do think its coming in the next day or two.

Negative LH 13dpo

So I’m 13 dpo and trying to conceive, I’m too scared to take a pregnancy test because i don’t want to see a negative so I’m waiting to see if i get my period in the next few days, but for some reason i was ok taking an LH strip today (easy @ home brand)

⚠️I know that LH are not a reliable indicator of pregnancy either way⚠️

I just have heard that they can often read high during early pregnancy because the hormones have similar make ups. Mine was negative and i just wanted to know if any of you had stories of taking LH strips during early pregnancy and whether they were neg or pos

11 dpo, still negative right?

I posted at 8 and 9 dpo thinking i saw a shadow, but you guys told me it was negative then. 11 dpo now and just want to make sure we are still negative? My line eyes are the worst this cycle 🙈

8 dpo?

Easy@home from this evening and pregmate was from fmu this morning. I know its super early but i thought there was a shadow of a line especially on the pregmate. Not sure if i see it more because its fmu or because the brand is more known for indents.

u/Medical_Asparagus409 — 2 months ago

Too early to tell, but is it possible?

I use OPKs and BBT to track my cycle and thats the only form of birth control my husband and I use. However, this is my third cycle off of hormonal birth control and my once very regular cycle is all over the place. Ive had a couple positive LH tests on CD 10 and 16-18. I think CD 10 was for sure false since ive had BBTs above the cover line since CD 18. My BBT was declining CD 23,24 but shot back up to be the highest temp of the cycle today on CD 25.

I took a pregmate test with fmu today and saw a shadow line maybe? I know pregmate js known for indent lines but ive used like 2/3rds of this pack with all stark white negatives during other cycles. I will use easy@home for the next couple of super early tests because i have heard they are a little more accurate but still cheaper than a FRER.

The big thing is we only had unprotected intercourse on CD 9 and 21. I still think those are safe days except for if I ovulated on CD 20 a day after my LH surge negative, but i know thats very unlikely.

Even if I did ovulation on CD 20, I would only be 5dpo and the shadow on the test wouldn’t mean anything yet. Based on my first temp above coverline i am 8dpo, which is why I thought this test looked appropriate for that day but the timing with intercourse just doesnt add up.

Thoughts?
