Is Solveig a horrible name?

I'm mostly Swedish/Norwegian and I fell in love with the name Solveig (pronounced Soul-vay in Norway) but I read that many people thought it was ugly or would be mispronounced. I have family with that name going back to the 1500s and would really like to honor my roots. It means "daughter of the sun" and is old norse. I know it's going to have to be corrected in the US but I've always had to correct my name and it never bothered me.

Am I possibly saddling my baby with a name that would get her teased? Is it too out there? I liked having a unique name growing up, but I don't want her to resent her name.

Any help would be appreciated.

How important is Donor Age?

I (nb 31) recently found out I'm CMV negative and the only CMV negative donor at my chosen clinic the same race as me is 40. That seems to be on the higher end and I've heard that sperm degrades with age. Should I choose a different donor/sperm bank? Any help is appreciated. I had no idea the amount of options would be so low.

Questions to ask at first fertility appointment?

Hello all!

I have my first appointment with the fertility clinic today and I'm honestly so overwhelmed. I have terrible social anxiety and I'm afraid I'm going to just clam up during the whole appointment. Is there anything in particular I should be asking when I'm there?

It's just your average deal, ultrasound and testing and making a plan moving forward. This is just my first time going through any of this and I'm honestly drawing a blank when it comes to what I should know.

Any help would be appreciated!

Stellan for a boy in the US?

I'm mostly Swedish but living in the US. I would like to honor my roots by giving my child a Swedish/Norse name, but I don't want them teased or to have their name constantly mispronounced. I've landed on Stellan as it seems more intuitive than my previous favorites. I love the meaning, "calm" and even though in Sweden it's kind of an old man name, it doesn't have that connotation here in the states. Plus I've always been fond of old man/old woman names.

What's the consensus on Stellan? Good vibes? Is it too out there?

What Do you think of the name Stellan?

I'm mostly Swedish, with my dad's side of the family living near Varmland, and would love a Swedish/Norse name for my baby. The problem is that I'm currently living in the states and need a name that even the most brain dead could pronounce. I have already chosen a girl's name, but boy names are so much harder. I came across Stellan and thought it was much more intuitive than my other favorite name, Emil (pronounced Eh-mil in Sweden).

What is the general consensus on Stellan? Good vibes? Bad vibes? How will it fair in the United States?

What are some things you wish people would consider when choosing a donor?

Hello!

I'm getting ready to start my single parent by choice journey and I'm having trouble choosing a donor. It's such a big important choice and I feel overwhelmed. What matters most to you as a donor conceived person? What do you wish your parents had taken into consideration? What is a must and what can be overlooked? I feel like I'm being too picky but at the same time this is a human being I'm going to be creating.

Any insight is appreciated!

Thoughts on the name Emil?

I'm currently planning for a baby in the next year and have been looking at names since I love baby names. I'm mostly Swedish with my dad's side of the family still living there, and love Swedish names, however I currently live in the states so have to be mindful of that.

My favorite name for a boy is Emil (Eh-mill) as I grew up loving the books by Astrid Lindgren, however my sister and a family friend both made fun of the name saying he'd be called "E-mail". Is this a concern? Is the name really that bad? My second choice was Ennis since I have ties to Ireland, but I didn't want my kid to be called "Penis".

Help! Should I find a new name?
