Leben mit und an der Mauer im Jahr 1988. Ich bin 1984 nach Berlin gekommen und habe die Stadt zu Mauerzeiten als ziemlich entspannt erlebt, die Stadt war auch nicht so voll wie heute. Die Mauer war in den Alltag eingebaut und die Jüngeren waren mit diesem Zustand aufgewachsen, kannten es nicht anders. Das Foto hat Chris John Dewitt in Kreuzberg gemacht. / Life with and alongside the Wall in 1988. I arrived in Berlin in 1984 and found the city, back in the days of the Wall, to be quite laid-back; it wasn't as crowded as it is today, either. Wer sich für die Bauten in Berlin interessiert empfehle ich dieses Buch. Aufgelistet sind 1346 Gebäude die unter Denkmalschutz stehen, jeweils mit einer Beschreibung und einem kleinen Bild. Das Buch stammt aus 2004 ist aber noch erhältlich, zumindest gebraucht. Allerdings nur in deutscher Sprache. / I recommend this book to anyone interested in Berlin's architecture. It lists 1,346 listed buildings, each with a description and a small photograph. Although published in 2004, it is still available, at least second-hand. However, it is only available in German.

Am U-Bahnhof Stadtpark (heute Rathaus Schöneberg), U-Bahn-Linie 4, gab es nach dem Krieg auch einiges zu tun. Die Graustufen-Bilder zeigen den Zustand im Mai 1946, fotografiert von Fritz Eschen. Der Bahnhof ist komplett wieder aufgebaut worden und gehört für mich mit zu den schönsten in Berlin.
